Matt asking how somebody could be out of gas is priceless.
Love this channel but why won't you bring extra gas ? It would make life a lot easier.
Yeah Matt has a history of running his tank dry!
@@josephobrien942 i
@Joseph O'Brien where you gonna store it? Can't be inside and it's just more weight and stuff that's rarely needed
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣agreed
One thing I learned as a Tourist in your area, is never leave town except on a full tank. Its too easy to drive several hundred miles a day.
Full tank of gas, water, blankets and a tow rope
That's a good idea for any p lace a ok ersonvisits during thier vaction
And Matt has yet to learn that lesson himself 😂
@@slngblde Bullseye!
Just look at how many times Matt has ran of gas
4:26 i like how Peanut knows how to stay off the road. Than the truck passes and she is happily skipping along knowing the job is done. Awesome content
Working dogs are smart 🤓.
FYI, airbags can still deploy for a short while after the battery has been disconnected. You must wait for a full discharge of the capacitors. I'd recommend teaming up with your local fire department for an extrication day to learn about the dangers of vehicles with water/crash damage. Stay safe out there team!
Disconnect the battery and then hold the horn for 15-30 seconds. Best way to discharge the capacitors.
@@covrtdesign5279 i usually cycle the ignition a few times but really anything should work
@@timothylages6586 Just as long as you remove that built up charge in the capacitors, you'll be just fine.
@@covrtdesign5279 person "hold the horn to discharge" also person not knowing majority of vehicles have an airbag in the horn button on the wheel 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣 don't listen to this man.
@@ThatBritishGuy An airbag will not just randomly go off. You will be more than fine.
Disconnect power. Remove the air bag fuses. Restore power. Crank it and drive. The body control module is soaked. It's under the driver seat. A mechanic will want to rep,ace the harness as well. If you pull it clean and dry it and the harness you should be fine. The ghosts in the machine will keep going. New cars can't handle the water intrusion.
Not to mention the need to flush the differentials and transmission fluid, check all seals, and dry out the whole cabin. It'll be okay.
@@cgunugc yes remove and replace all fluids including coolant. If you are "off roading" a vehicle. Rely on rolt cage and 5 point restraints not electronic inflatables. The air bag should have required weight in the seat, suspension compression, 15mph or more, and a impact on the bumper. System failure. The airbag if deployed will scare ya. Maybe a black eye. It should not break a nose. I would have disconnected the air bags and drove it home. Then again. I have never owned a car with airbags. Unless you count my mother and mother-in-law in the same car.
@@cgunugc transmission will probably never be the same
Jefe is awesome! It's fun to see his confidence in front of the camera grow over the years.
Yep, hes also one of Matt's top employees. I think he said Director of Operations. You know, that behind the scenes guy that does all the hard work.

4:20 or so....I love how Peanut steps off the road when the Morrvair came screaming up the hill towing the rescued truck. She's a smart pooch...(and adorable). She needs her own RUclips channel.
That airbag sounded like a gunshot. The insurance will probably total that truck. It astounds me where people drive their vehicles. Glad everyone was OK. All of the MORR team rock. Stay safe and GOD bless
The weasel fk insurance company will try to refuse coverage for this, I guarantee it
Congrats to Lizzy on her recent marriage. Mrs. Ballard, I hope you will continue with Matt as you are a joy to watch on the recoveries, builds, etc.
when did Lizzie get married?
What???
I'm truly sorry guys but Lizzy is married to Clancy Ballard. So now he is officially Lizzy’s husband. He lives in Dickson, Tennessee. Fans, followers, relatives, and well-wishers are really happy to see them together. They got married on 30 September 2022 in Cedar city temple.
She got hitched young lol she's like 21
@@leadnsteel1428 21 is on the older side for the LDS community. When I toured the main temple in Salt Lake City, they reported around 30 wedding per day on a busy day. Most of the folks getting married looked about 1 day past 18.
As a tow truck driver I have had an airbag deploy after a front end crash. I foolishly tried to maneuver into position and it went off. Broke my glasses and two black eyes! Learned my lesson
I am always impressed with Jefe's skill in recoveries!

Another reason to ride in a 95 and older Toyota Pickup. no electrical gremlins when you dunk it in a river. Great episode guys!
Had an 89 that flooded the computer behind the kick panel or under the seat, I can’t remember exactly. Water/mud can screw up just about anything, given the chance, but yes, the older the less likely to fail.

It sounds like MORR could do with a standard list of questions for customers that call!
-Is the vehicle driveable?
-Do you have fuel?
-Can you provide an accurate pin?
Things like that. I answer customer calls all the time, having a list is hugely beneficial.
Great idea Theoden! 😀
He already asks all those things. Sadly not all customers have the brains they were born with 🙂
Is the vehicle stolen?
Are there drugs in the vehicle?
Are there weapons in the vehicle?
Is the vehicle registered and insured?
Amount a dozen other things that they should do.
Add to that a link to a site that explains how to pin something correctly
"Challenge accepted!" They definitely need to make more like Lizzy!! Matt, you have a great team! Kudos to you!
Have only been watching Matt's videos for a short time and love them! Matt shows respect to everyone and has a great group of friends. Robbie, Trail Mater, Fab Rats, and Mischief Maker. What a great group of friends to surround your self with. Keep up what your doing! Great crew you have, wish I wasn't stuck in Massachusetts 🙂, would love to see your part of the country!
Actually, it would be good if you gave a brief tutorial on how to drop a pin. If I were stranded somewhere, I would not know how. I think there are probably a lot of people like me who are a bit challenged when it comes to things our phones will do. Keep up the great content. I love your videos and I think you have a great crew.
Open maps, touch your location, up pops send pin. Click that and send as text to mobile phone. At least on I phone that’s how it works.
@@duramaxdad In my experience sending a pin as described works 95% of the time. On occasion the pin I selected was correct, however the person who received the pin had a different location received. The safest way we have found to send a pin (especially to far out trails and dirt roads) is to directly copy and paste the exact gps coordinates and let the receiver route to it.
@@desertpointadventures Interesting. Good read.
These guys just made your point by talking about a lot of stuff that not all of us understand!
Would gps coordinates work better?
19:25 water got to modules under the seat and under the dash. Probably corroded a bunch of connectors too. Water inside the cab of modern vehicles destroys them. Airbags going off means the airbag module is likely shorted, wipers and windows are usually the Body Control module. Probably looking at a couple thousand in modules and wiring harness repairs.
Gotta love modern cars.
What you do for the people in your area that are stranded for whatever reasons is commendable, the need for what you do is a must. Recoveries are not always easy but you get the job done and I thank you for that. Matt's Roadside Recovery are rockstars...

Definately do a video on dropping pins!
When that airbag went off it sounded like a rifle shot, although I thought the blue truck had broken something coming up the bank out of the river. Modern cars are so reliant on the electronics, and virtually none of it can be fixed on the road, doubly so on a dark dirt road. Good work by the other team, Matt'd be proud!
Im surprised you guys have gone this long without radios. You will greatly appreciate having them.
I think eartechs are better than radios since they are vox, but they are very pricey. However I've not tested them in a noisy environment. Mainly used them for Productions.
It really is surprising isn’t it!?!

On the 3rd rescue @ 12:00 +...Rett is very photogenic...Plus being a good salesman....Thanks folks, enjoyed the vid as usual...
i don't know how other trucks do it, but in the fusebox of my JK, there's a bright yellow fuse holder which disables/de-energizes the entire airbag system, so that one can safely work on or around the sensors. It might just be a mopar thing, but maybe look for one the next time you need to tow a waterlogged truck without risking an airbag to the face.
I’m always amazed how powerful the Morrvair is and what it can do.
The Morrvair was built for the job based on their experience with the Banana, so imagine how good the Heavy Wrecker is going to be? It's not even that heavy for what it is, so it's going to be exciting to drive with that big engine. 340HP and 450lb ft of torque! Imagine being out dragged at the lights by a BIG wrecker truck.
You could do with a drone, to spot customers or for finding easier routs out ?? Job for Lizzy 🖖
I like watching and listening to the gripes about the weather. Ya'll need to come to South Florida and see what REAL rain is. 12" in two hours isn't too uncommon around here. Keep getting 'em out!

I put in a new battery on my Honda Fit, and bought a 12v tire inflator because of this channel. Just watching MORR solve problems creatively and as painless as they can inspired me to take car of basic problems. Honda Fit feels like one step lateral to a Go-Cart.
Good to see Ed (albeit with a walking stick).
Two-way radios will be terrific - you won't know yourselves.
Love the sound of the Morrvair.
That was unexpected about the Tacoma with electrical issues. Didn't seem as though he was that deep in the water, of course, we don't know what he went through prior to getting stuck. Can't wait until the first electric vehicle jumps off into the river - that might be worth the price of admission....
The BCU (the body control computer) is in the footwell behind the passenger kick panel, it will be flooded. The ECU is up higher which is why it still ran OK.
Grind hard plumbing co. Built an off road Tesla and drove it into deep water… you might like to check it out on RUclips.
One of the best things about your channel is how you give back to the community great job I appreciate it
Having radios when driving in a group, nevertheless flat towing another vehicle, is such a game changer. I’ve done like a dozen road rallies and having radios in even a handful of the cars makes everything so much safer and much more enjoyable.

Such a great bunch of people, well done guys.
Great video and great job with the recovering and not first time I have seen air bags go off in a drowning vehicle my daughters did the same thing God bless from GA and stay safe
Check your owner's manual, but the best way to flat tow a 4×4 with an automatic trans over a long distance (I've heard 40 miles, but I'd stay less if the vehicle has been sitting) is to put the transmission in park and the transfer case in neutral. If there's no transfer case neutral (I'm looking at you 1996/97 GMT400 trucks) then you have to disconnect the driveline(s). Be sure to retain the u-joint cups or you'll have a needle bearing yard sale and you'll probably end up replacing the u-joint.
The fluid pump on an auto trans is connected to the torque converter and is only powered by the engine. If the output shaft (or half shafts in the case of a transaxle) are turning without fluid getting pumped the bearings, bushings, planetaries, and clutch packs won't get lubrication or cooling. It's a recipe for disaster.
There *are* a few autos whose pump is run from the tailshaft - the Ford A4LD (used in 90's explorers, small f150's, etc). These can be flat-towed safely. But yeah, most can't.
A note for people that HATE high repair bills; " your fuel keeps the pump cool! below a quarter of a tank of fuel your pump starts burning itself out because of heat!!"
Thank You to Matt and the whole MORR crew and family for all the good will you do.
You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
Also. Fill ur tank til it's full and the pump shuts off. Don't "top it off" manually yourself. Not only can you overfill and spill it, but it'll cause other issues to the charcoal canister, evap system, etc. Especially on older models.
My wife drove under. “When fuel light comes on fill up” in tank fuel pumps every 4 years. I hounded on it. “At half tank watch for cheap gas/fill at 1/4 tank fill even if $$$”. No more fuel pump replacement. It’s that easy. When I visited mom. I would bring 5 gallons of gas, or take her car to town for gas. If it got below 1/4 call me. (She drove 30 miles a week)
@@andrewk8636 it's as easy to fill the top half as the bottom. Go ahead and press your luck but electronic fuel pumps go out after you've filled the tank. As a wrench, I keep fuel I have to drain when working on any model and year of vehicle. Thanks for the gas!
I'm glad the engineers that designed fuel systems that require that much fuel to keep the pump cool, haven't designed fuel systems for the vehicles I've owned. In all my years of owning vehicles and usually waiting until the tank is well below a quarter tank to refuel, I've never had a fuel pump problem. Although gas does help cool the fuel pump, it doesn't require a quarter tank or more to do so. As long as you have enough gas flowing through the pump, it's providing proper cooling.
@@Jim-bw8jo it’s just the limits I have set. Higher in winter. I am no longer involved with stuff. But in my life needing the ability to go hard 60+ miles without delay of fueling up has been known. It costs no more, often less to keep a few gallons instead of quarts in the tank. I have been blocked by closed roads in sub zero temps. A half full tank, winter clothing, blanket, chow…. Made it restful. (In half to 45 minute naps). Then start car, run heat 10 minutes…
the candy cane in eds mouth is a all time moment

MORR should partner with onX off road maps and Garmin GPS/Satellite trackers so people can go off-road safely and be able to send accurate locations if they're stranded.
There's no need. Google Maps can provide GPS coordinates really easily. If people cant' figure out google maps then there's no way they'll figure out onx or a dedicated gps device.

Hey Ed, try using a staff. Way more stable than a cane and what I use. The correct height staff that works best for me comes to mid shoulder. It's an old rake handle with a rubber cane tip. Be surprised how versatile a staff is. Standard size cane would cause me to fall.
