My Grandpa told me something years ago that i think applies to this video, and to the difference between Matt and alot of the people he rescues. A lot of people give up and say they are stuck when they can't go the direction they want to. In reality you are not stuck until you cant go anywhere. If you work with where you can go, you may find a different way to get to what you want to go.
I think that applies to just about anything in life. If you work with your abilities and opportunities, you’ll find a way to accomplish what needs to be done or learn what you need to learn or change what you need to change or….. well, you get the idea.
@@MamaJLW took the words right out of my mouth!
My Dad always told me " Nothing is impossible, some things just take a little longer!"
You're not stuck until you're stuck 🙏🤟
@@MamaJLW I love this perspective !
Im always surprised they don't have onboard air on their vehicles. I know it adds weight, but it seems like it would come in handy quite often
Just what I was going to say. Also, why all the messing turning the trailer around. The was enough people to do it by manpower and then hook up again.
@@frogmaster83 you have no idea how steep it is there and how easy it is to lose control of a trailer once it starts rolling.
@@rodneymartin6154 True that. They could have winched it around, though.
Seriously, no onboard air and at least a power tank. Seems a no brainer to me.
@@brucek.345 There are some really good small battery powered compressors that would do the job., or those that plug into the lighter. One in each vehicle should be a must.
The Internet:
“Hey Matt, since you’re always airing your tires up and down why don’t you carry a small 12v compressor (jacks, tools, ramps, gas etc…) with you?”
Matt:
“Any extra weight on my custom made, specially designed recovery vehicle would vastly diminish it’s off-road capabilities!”
Also Matt:
“So we got a call… Hey Ed, Lizzy, Trevor, Skeeter, Jaymie, Rudy, Tom Tom, Max, Lady, Turbo load up! Someone grab the cameras, microphones, lights and drones. And we’re stopping at the Maverick’s on the way to stock up on sodas and snacks like 12 year olds who just won the lotto!”
Like that’s a bad thing.
@@josephdbishop6576 not bad at all just funny!
Hahahah!!!
When the going gets sketchy, usually they bail on Matt and weight goes to normal. But original post is correct and funny. I just roll with MORR escapades.
now, a word abt safety 🤓 lol hey lovin ur vids👍🏾 i see ya’ll buckle up sometimes, i kno when ur in n out of the rig it’s a pain, but i would highly encourage whilst loadin n unloadin on trailers, ya’ll buckle up!! ask me how i kno 🤦🏻♂️😝🫣

I had to laugh out loud when I saw Tucker with the winch rope over his shoulder walking ahead of the Banana. The man is a "BEAST"!
That cow looked at you like “y’all are udderly weird. I’m outta here!” 🐮 🐄
After watching other off-road channels I come back to yours, and yours are more watchable. The music and volume are perfect and appropriate, the crew interaction sincere, and the camera work excellent. I never get tired of it. Don't change a thing!
High production budget.
And usually no swearing.

Rory, trail mater is my favorite for more difficult recoveries. Matt would be second place. Matt, Rory and Fab Rats are my favs. Matt does not bring tools. No air compressor in todays video
Ive said it a million times.... Gas can, tools and air are a must for all of your rigs..... Nice work and driving!
I'm surprised that Matt doesn't have an electric air pump or air storage tank in all of his pull vehicles.😎
@@549BR Just stubborn I guess. I cannot really think of any other reason. Just assemble two sets, and leave them in the vehicles. He seems to have plenty of room for the dogs!
@@MikeJohnson-ld9rn He's said before that he needs his rigs to be as light as possible for floatation. Most of his recoveries are in the sand where weight is crucial. Plus he has a crew of people one call away in case he needs anything
@@nate7917 Seriuosly, you think waiting in 100 plus degree heat while help arrives is a good idea? Also, remembering to bring basic recovery items is more about forgetting than lightness. But more than this, simply removing gas cans, jacks , tools, small battery powered inflare,( if the situation requieres more lightness)would not be worth it for the few instances that might require unloading four things? Also, he brings three dogs along sometimes that take up room, but can also just hop out during a rescue!
@@MikeJohnson-ld9rn chill dude just enjoy the vid lol
Lizzy’s capacity to snooze is legendary!
This video has is all: Great scenery, Lizzy sleeping under impossible conditions, Trevor falling while filming, Tucker proving he's the strongest guy on the crew, yummy junk food, a happy dog, Jefe providing valuable backup, and Matt simply being chill, regardless of how dire the situation might have seemed. 👍 And as usual, kudos to the camera swingers and the editors. Great work by all involved!
The only thing that was missing from this video was running out of gas. Is Matt finally learning? Lol
What about Ed? Can't be complete without Ed.
Lizzie comment 😂🎯,how🤯
lol that Lizzy can sleep anywhere
Also some wedgie-picking as well...see if you can find it, towards the end!
Surprised Blue Steel doesn’t have a winch yet.
“I was born amongst Jeeps and winches” 😎🤣 MORR should slap that on some merch and give you a cut
tucker and trevor together are hilarious every time
"You haven't heard of Cheertoes?"
Not to overstate the obvious, but perhaps a portable air compressor would be a good addition to your recovery vehicles based upon the number of times you're required to deflate your tires. Well done to the entire crew.
How about a trailer that you can pull from either end? Then instead of having to turn around with the trailer, you just unhitch, turn the tow rig around, and hitch back up to the other end.
Lizzy remains a star! Fearless, smart, and welds with the best of them!
Best lady on the web, PERIOD. She is IMHO the reason many of us frequent this channel. Great video, makes me appreciate my years in Hurricane, a long time ago. At my age, it is great to look back. I am 78, have lost some limbs along the way, please, keep the great videos coming !!! Lizzie, thanks for the lovely smiles ...
11:32 Tucker is a one man tow truck! Thumbs UP to Tucker the Great !! 😁👍
He was raised by winches!😁
Matt’s insistence to use a winch only as a last resort, as in the turn around, certainly makes these videos exciting at times.
Never used your last resort first.
i prefer my 'last' resort, to be my 1st resort
He has been using the winch a lot more recently. In fact, the previous video, he was talking about how the kinetic ropes where the wrong tool for a truck stuck in mud, and that you always should winch to break the suction.
@@nunya3163 I think a recent recovery fatality of an Arizona man has had a few of the recovery channels being more cognizant how safe the techniques they're demonstrating are
@@BluCappy419 Saw the August 5th TV news story out of Kingman, AZ. The news reporter did not explain exactly what happened, but it appeared that the tow-hitch ball/fragment that struck (and killed) the driver, Ryan Woods, was attached to a standard tow strap.
I’ve done a lot of this stuff(not professionally) but my rule was always “if you're spinning and digging in,Stop”. Matt consistently breaks that rule and it works. I love it.
MORR wheel speed is the answer to most traction questions 😅
Blows me away how tough the Banana is with the low gear pulling. Crazy to see a small jeep pull everything it sees.
One would think that experienced recovery experts, such as Matt and crew, would carry a standard kit of items such as; 12V compressor, tie-down straps, water for cooling systems, extra fuel, etc. After all, they are operating in extreme conditions and usually far from resources or additional assistance. Planning is a primary concern for any endeavor! Nice video!!
and Dollar General sells a cheap 12v tire compressor for 10 bucks.. I have one in every Vehicle.. "just in case", and i'm not in that business
I carry more tools & parts than these guys to go to the dentist office, but my cars are also trash.
Tools=weight and space
His vast experience generally outweighs the need for most tools
@@scottcochran384 Those compressors would probably break before they even got to the job.. but a good cheap compressor is only $50-100
They likely do have good ones, just floating around in other vehicles or the shop
Take turns on a big barrel bicycle pump? (Yes. Not the skinny tire high pressure pump. Old school)
Won’t work for high pressure, but better VOLUME/stroke…
Light weight, not large.
4 “power sources” on this trip. 😂😅😊
It's fun to see Tucker helping out more with recoveries instead of sitting behind the scenes all the time.
I mean, he literally pulled that jeep out over his shoulder! lol
Tucker is always great value, and he has a dry sense of humour.
No, no! That cow wasnt worthless, that cow remembered what momma cow told her: "Dont let strangers in a car talk to you, Daisy!" 😅
And I love the perspective from the Banana's belly! Very informative! 😊
Great video: Trevor falling, Matt's stubbornness (refusal to carry an air compressor this time), Strongman Tucker, Wet Lizzie, this episode has it all.
Watching the banana scramble, pull, and struggle in that steep boulder wash (especially good angle from the underside) just had me tensing. What a work horse!

Small tyre inflation compressors are a thing; maybe you should consider putting one or two in each vehicle in case you need them?
Also, when you got the Banana basically stuck, I got halfway through saying 'If they don't find some grip there, they're going to need recovery' when I realised you have a winch and can just go full spintires with it.
Also also, thank you for including Peanut in the video at the end. I needed some cuteness; it's been a hard week.
Yep, I was going to say the same thing about the air compressor. Even a cheapie walmart one would have saved a trip.
@@jamescole6846 I have a nice cordless one I got off Amazon. Chassis of an electric drill, rechargable battery that charges off a micro-USB port, and a little display on the back to set pressure.
If you can't humble yourself, you're not much of a person, Matt's ability to do just that is what draws me to this channel,😉👍 , awesome video guys, and thanks for sharing.

Love the fact of showing the undercarriage of your Jeep. Makes it interesting and shows more of how rough the terrain is and how the Jeep works hard by seeing it twist and flex
Why don't you keep a small air compressor in each vehicle? They're tiny, I keep one in all of my trucks.
Nowadays you can even get ones that run off of your favorite tools battery packs
To quote Matt's own words about himself, " he's fat, dumb and lazy" I lived in the same town as him many years ago and ran into him here and there. Another thing he's Mormon, their mindset is "pray to Jesus" rather than being prepared. If you've lived around LDS people like I have, you'll know what I'm talking about.
I’m so glad that Tucker has become one of your family so fast! Him and Trevor are such a good pair 😂
Matt's expertise on building off road vehicles sure shows through in this rescue.
I see the Banana is a three wheel drive. You need a locker in that rear dif! Great job! You know Trevor is dedicated when he hangs out the window to get the shot regardless of the mud in the face!
An portable air compressor would be handy to have on board.
Y’all should put some air compressors on both the Banana and MORRvair love the work y’all are doing, stay kind! ❤
I would have thought that was a GIVEN ?
I love the cow puns and am grateful you’re all about hydration! 🤣
When you have Tucker with you, you don't need a winch, jack or a trailer... Just get Tucker to dead lift it 🤣
14:30 The Milwaukee 12V inflator has been a game changer for me. No need for compressors and tanks for tire pressure changes. EDIT: 15:38 Nevermind! You've got one you just didn't bring it.
I am astounded that the Banana made it up that steep, loose, rocky trail! Phenomenal driving, Matt.
The built up inline 6 says it all.

Why are Matt’s videos so captivating. It’s just recovery almost every video, but I love it and can’t stop watching. Please don’t stop 👍
It's because every rescue is like going on a fun 4-wheeling adventure with a few friends, where you don't know exactly what you're gonna be getting yourself into, but you know it's gonna be an adventure, bringing great scenery and a few challenges that make the trip exciting. Every one of these videos is like that.
@@JoeJ-8282 yup 👍
Cause recovering vehicles is fun as heck and always has a touch of adventure!
I think it's two fold, great personalities plus adventures most of us will never remotley ever have in our boring mundane everyday existence, better than anything network tv has to offer these days full of phony non reality reality shows which are scripted at least to some extent. Another thing is editing which can make or break even the best content.
Wow, impressive! That really looked like the chances of pulling that one back up there with the banana were very slim, but you did it! Also great to see Jefe pull up not only with the air compressor but also bring brownies for the crew after such a long journey!
That rear driveline was really working hard going up the hill, and so little weight on the front. I can't believe they got out of that
And best of all Peanut!
"There's your problem!" That was funny. I laughed literally right out loud. This is one of the funniest of your videos that I have watched.....and I have watched a lot.
Never say, "It can't be worse" because it usually gets worse. Matt has nerves of steel! The drama and suspense in Matt's recovery videos is on par with any Alfred Hitchcock movie.
Zizzy is the ultimate trooper! She never says no. Gotta love it.
Lizzy.😳
She may have to be Zizzy now! Was she asleep at 2:58? Mad napping skills.🤣🤣
a nurse once told me cartoons used the ZzzzzzZZZZzzzz because back in the day their machines that read electric activity in the brain when people were sleeping would register on the Z axis of the brain, in wavelengths hence the upper case and lower case Z's. Interesting eh.
That was super gnarly. Almost looked like those videos from Windrock this year.
Also, I have a portable Ryobi air compressor that I recommend since you (and also, I) don't have onboard air. Pretty compact, and on my JL, it airs up four 35s from 15 PSI to 30 PSI in about 15 minutes. One extended battery (4 Ah) will do all 4 tires (tho I always bring two, just in case). I will always throw it in the back any time I think I might want to go off road since having one and not needing it is better than needing it and not having it.
Lizzy's face when the old guy's were singing... Classic!! 🥴
I love that you notice the land around you “look at this pretty meadow!” And it is like you found a magical secret place, thanks for sharing it with us
You guys always get it out… but I can’t even imagine how exhausting that is for all of you.
It good for ya.
Well the Morrvairs gone , the bananas gone , the tangerines gone, I guess we're going to do rescues in the Golden Nugget today
Simple upgrade to fix this.
Trailworthy fab hero 6x6 case. It has two rear output shafts.
Use the second output shaft to add a pto on the back of the tow vehicle with a pillow block bearing or similar kind of like a tractor.
Add drive axles to the trailer and add a driveshaft that ends in a pillow block near the hitch, leave enough space for your tractor pto shaft which you will use to connect the trailer driveshaft to the output shaft now mounted on the rear of your vehicle. The twf transfer case has both rear outputs on the same stick. You will have twin stick controls but as long as your trailer has the pto shaft connected the wheels will drive. Make sure you use a pto slip clutch on the shaft, it is standard tractor hardware, the shaft and slip clutch can be purchased off the shelf. You just need to swap the transfer case on the tow rig and add the axles and driveshaft to the trailer.
There are also ways to add steering, if you choose to do that I recommend Ram 5500 axles, the fronts are 7k.
Additionally, in order to use tandem axles you will need to add a 1:1 drop box to the trailer, for tridem you’ll need two.
I would just use a pair of rear axles gears wheels and tires to match the tow rig for optimal performance, but you can use different axles with the same gear ratio and tires, or you can change the ratio and use different size tires. There is a math equation for that, but you’ll have to ask a tractor bro because I don’t know it.
"I was born amongst Jeeps and Winches" --Tucker. This had me laughing out loud. Great shot and line. 😂
That was a gnarly trail. As soon as tucker got out of the banana, it climbed up the hill easily!
I love how it's a 20 year old Jeep Cherokee that is capable of all this. Granted its far from stock, I always imagine being in the shoes of a customer thinking "This is what they brought to get my 1 ton truck with a trailer out of the sand?" And yet everytime, they get'em out!
I always think that even more when they use the Moorvair. When the customer is asked "so how did you get out?", "Well your not going to believe this but it was a corvair, loaded with happy people, a couple dogs and cameras. They even gave me a shirt before they left".
Wish I could be a part of this crew...seems like great friendships, family, team and comradery! Love what you all do.
That turn went really well. It once took three of us to pull a dead 4x4 out of one offroad site :o) The old boys said 45 degrees takes the same rope force as lifting the vehicle :o
Matt you and your crew's "Can Do" attitude is inspirational. You have done a great job assembling a great bunch of people.
Thanks for sharing y'all's adventures!!!
More like “Does do” attitude. It’s like each and every one of them could be lead on a rescue. We’ve seen Tucker and Lizzy do it, I don’t recall if I’ve seen Jayme do one as lead, but she’s done almost every aspect I believe.

"look at this pretty meadow." The best Matt quote ever hands down. This needs to be a shirt.
Though for a shirt, it should be the Banana climbing over a huge rock. The quote is still perfect.
8:00 Good thing Tucker's a beast that looks like he could deadlift the whole car.
I just noticed that I haven't seen this video, nice to see Trevor, Tucker & Lizzy again 🙌
With everything you have on your rigs, I'm surprised onboard air is not one of them. Very useful in situations.
That was a very sketchy recovery! Had my doubts but you made it through. Matt talking to the cow, that was hilarious! You all are amazing! Looks like it was a very long, stressful and exhausting day. I hate that we get to enjoy your misery, LOL!
He was right about that cow being udderly worthless though!🤣🤣🤣

Lizzy "The Trooper". She has certainly earned that title! Good stuff guys...keep em coming. Oh remember a couple years back I said "Make a higher hitch"..yeah..lol (Basically flip a HD drop down hitch)
It's nice that Matt let Trevor out to run during the recovery.
He will probably be reported for cruelty.
I love this channel. I really admire this whole crew.
I need a winch behind your tow hook!
In the old days, skidders for scarifing and the scarifier it selves was a werry heavy tow behind style whit is own engine. So to get up hill they needed tobl winch the scarfier up. So the hook was detachable and connected to the big winch. This meant that the operator didn't need to leave the driver's seat and reconnect any wires or so. He just put som tension on the winch so that he could release the catch for the hook. And then he just drove up the hill free spoiling the winch. To stop on the top to winch the scarfier up.
It's probably a good solution for your trailer as well. All you need is a self centering tip on the hook a winch and som metal glue and your dune!👌😄
We already knew Tucker was awesome but good gravy! Tucker's a one man towing machine! 😆 I'm telling you, Matt, Paul, Robbie and Rory have the best crews around. They are the best thing about watching these videos. That job was real sketchy. Well done pulling that off as usual. 🤠🧑🦰🌲🌲🌲 🎼
Matt, you and your team are amazing and obviously know what you are doing. But I am constantly amazed that you guys out with so little in the way of "recovery gear". Especially not having an air compressor!
I was thinking the same thing. A jug of fuel and a spare trailer tire don't take up that much room ether
Curious on the reasoning here too. Could be built into the vehicles or even just a portable unit.

For all the different conditions you guys run into on a recovery, I would think you would always carry a 12 volt air compressor as part of the normal equipment you always keep in the truck.

Some of the places you guys go to recover are scenic for sure. Good to see you put everything into the videos. That was a tight one hanging off the cliff like that.
Very surprised the Banana does not have some sort of on board air setup? Even a simple electric pump. Got to get one on that rig asap.
A really good high pressure 12v compressor is about $200. Yes, they run hot. Yes, they don't generally last very long. But when you need them, you can't beat them. Just put one scratch that two on every rescue vehicle you have. Replace the ones the die.

I am so glad folks are enjoying this instead of the weirdos on other channels I wish you folks are safe in all your endeavors been watching for a long time now and love how everyone works together and there is no yelling or complaining (Trevor falls more than i do and i only have one leg) also happy to see you got your Banana dirty (if im ever lost and broke down ill be sure to send you a picture of the lug nuts and steering wheel and maybe a headlight)
That first debacle I kept saying "just winch it!", so I'm glad you finally did 🙂 Then during the second area of trouble I kept saying "what are you doing! Get your passenger wheels further right so at least passenger is not in the rut!".
Anywho, glad you guys got out but man, that was certainly a long trip and a lot of work for the Banana! Proves how well you built it that it could take that abuse and keep going without any issues!

Milwaukee makes a 12 volt aircompresser and 3/8 impact kit that is perfect for your vehicles. I got one as a gift. What a great tool! From soccer ball to pick up and trailer tires. Fast and simple. Try one.
Could have used a rear selectable locker on this one. I know that the banana is built for sand and the limited slip does a better job there. Still got out without too much trouble, especially with your boy born among jeeps and winches!! Great video!!
Limited slip is not better than a selectable locker for anything but pavement in my experience.
@@v12alpine just going by what Matt has said in his videos. I think that originally there was a cost equation that was taken into account for what it was built for. Maybe that is all out the window now, but in the past, Matt has opted for simple solutions.

Trevor back in business, Lizzie sent out into water by boss (again!) and the Banana is now only 3 wheel drive (?). Great episode 👍🏻
He doesn't run a locker in the rear. I think he runs a Torsen style diff and this is the only time I've seen it be an issue.
He likes to use limited slip differentials. Both the Banana and Morrvair always has had some kind of limited slip.
Never seen it struggle with locking up on this channel. Interesting.
@@philb5593 This is the exact scenario a LSD of any sort falls short - one tire "in the air" or unweighted and the other pinned. The rear tire that was spinning had very little weight and the other tire with the weight had all the traction. If it is a Torsen style, hitting the brake could have helped to offset the differential difference. A clutch style LSD would just slip the clutches no matter what as far as I know.

You guys rock on your recovery’s! I would like to make a suggestion for your winch set up on your trailer that I have done on my truck. I made my own winch mount to where I can put it in my rear receiver! But that’s not the suggestion I want to share. I ran a .4 ought cable from my battery to front and rear with a quick connection.
