I had a 1966, about the same condition as Ed's. I can't count how many times I was peeled off the bike because the bush got too tight. The Rokon would just keep going, the only limit I found was my ability to stay on it. Best thing to do is think of it as a trials bike, put the bars higher and stand up more often. You guys did a good job bringing this one back.

Hi guys. I've been watching the rebuild of the nugget and the "Baby Nugget ". Back in the mud to late eighties, I work on a Game Ranch in Hluhluwe, in South Africa. There were two Robin's laying under some old tarps gathering dust. Apparently left after a movie being made about Game capture, and the Rokons were used in the movie. They hadn't run for years, but after a bit 8 managed to get one running. I took it for a ride around the ranch. Fun to ride. The only draw back was that mud would get stuck between the wheels and frame, locking up. But it was good fun. Thanks for bring back memories.

You really should start off in 1st and shift through the gears, the Albion trans. in that bike is made to shift on the fly and that clutch will thank you for it. Another thing on these old beasts, the transmission cover is a weak link when kick starting and is very hard to find. It would be a good idea to use the rope start and save the kick for backup.

Awesome work guys! Based on the tank, the gold on Ed's little tugger will be awesome, I'd be worried about scratching it up - not sure how many log piles Ed will be climbing with it. Love the new one you have too, they are cool bikes. God bless.

You always hear people saying they don’t make them as good as they use to. And most of the time they’re wrong. But this one might be the case. Cool watching the comparison!

My dad use to paint transmission towers in the early 60s and they had a rokon to haul their paint and stuff up mountains where no regular vehicle could go

Each to their own, but I find it irritating when people say "drive a bike" or "driving a bike" etc...
You ride a bike, not drive it...
But don't get me wrong! I'm absolutely loving this build !!!

Basically if you sit *on* something you ride it, if you sit *in* something you drive it (unless it's a boat, then you pilot it).

How about adding a drill starter option to Ed's Rokon? A little cordless drill could start that little two-stroke, I bet.
