  • Celestion artist Nick Jennison (Blitzkrieg, Saints of Arcadia) demonstrate the full tonal majesty of his favourite guitar speaker, the G12H-150 Redback.
Nick runs through a range of playing styles to showcase the tones you can get from the Redback, as well as comparing and contrasting with our old favourite, the Vintage 30.
Check out where to buy a G12H-150 Redback in your country: celestion.com/...
And you can find it at Thomann: www.thomann.de...

Little known fact, as Nick's shirt becomes more unbuttoned his playing gets even better. Great video for a great speaker!

I see a lot of comments about the vintage 30 being extra harsh, but in my experience that’s exactly how they sound. 🤘🏼✌🏼

I truly loved this demo. It was as informative as enjoyable and had a point of reference. Really considering one of this for my amp.

This in also my favourite speaker of all time. Makes any 1x12 combo sound massive like a 4x12 when cranked.
4x12’s aren’t very practical these days for the gigging musician. If your downsizing people, I highly recommend getting this G12H-150 speaker for a 1x12 or 2x12.
For the “single coil Strat Player” 🎸 this is a MUST HAVE speaker. You’ll never need to roll down the tone control on your bridge pickup again.

Man, what a great demo. Well done. I’m really impressed with the Redback. It’s got beautiful midrange growl with just the right amount of Celestion sizzle. It’s warm, but not dark. Killer speaker.

Hi If you would combine the redback with a V30 in a vertical 2x12. Where would you put the Redback? Up or bottem position?

wow, the V30 sounds like is has a torn cone during the heavy stuff.

I think that's because the amp was dialed in for the rolled off highs of the Redback.

Vintage30 has always been one of my least liked speakers as I am used to early 70s G12H's I gigged with for ages. The fizz of the V30's always annoyed me like heck. this video shows it clearly

I couldn't agree more. I know that speakers is on a ton of recordings I love but I've always hated playing through those speakers. I've got 2 V30 loaded 4x12's at my house that I'm stoaring for a friend and compared to my Fane loaded Hiwatt they sound like complete garbage IMO.

    • @jazznotes3802

Same. I’ve always used V30’s because my favourite players used them (Steve Vai and Satch,) but they always sounded fizzy in the top end in person. I don’t know how they make them sound good tbh.
I’m now using a “G12H-150 RedBack” in a Orange 1x12 combo and it sounds incredible, didn’t know what I was missing.
Massive low-end 🥊 and low mids, with very smooth highs, with no harshness at all. Sounds great with humbuckers, but sounds fantastic when playing Strat’s with high gain, even when using the single coil bridge pickup. Now I can actually use it 😂

I am curious if you get good cut with thr redback? My go to speakers are V30s, CL80s and K100z, but I'm trying the Redbacks lately. With the band I felt I couldn't be heard. Felt dark and small. My V30/CL80 sounded bigger in thr mix. I may try Redback/K100.

What would you think of pairing the redback with V30 in a 2x12 ? Was thinking about pairing the V30 with a Creamback but like the Redback

I'm sort of confused what's going on with that V30? I have a pair of V30s running in an extension cab (2x16 ohms parallel for 8 ohms) and a Redback 8ohm in my Blackstar Soloist. I know three 12"s is sort of strange but man it works!! They compliment each other amazing!! I think they are so great together because they are so different. But my V30's don't compare to my Redback like this at all. The scream of the V30 and growl of the Redback lend to big differences with EQ selections. Maybe this explains it?
But if I was forced to choose one, the V30s would stay. Obviously, this video would lead you to believe V30s are trash. Interesting results but I'm completely baffled. Cool video, thanks

@@AlienSexGod if you're using a solid state amp, most of the time you achieve max wattage at the lowest ohms. For example a lead 100 mosfet is 100 watts at 4 ohms, 80 watts at 8 ohms and 50 watts at 16 ohms.

"Mic'ed with a single SM57"? on what appears to be a single take of each section.... how TF did you move the single mic over? Magic? On cleans there wasn't much tonal difference then under amp distortion and compression there was a MASSIVE difference how TF could that happen? The V30 on OD sounded like shit! Usually cleans will show up tonal differences we are hearing the speaker as it is as compression on tube OD usually flattens frequency response out....
