Noeline Burke: the face that sunk 1,000 ships.
Bahahaha
I skipped school to watched the reruns
She definitely has a face that’d make a freight train take a dirt road
Still, dunno why I like her. She's a hoot. Great acting.
I think she adds a lot to the show. Reminds me of Sean Penn... sister or even brother lol
looking back it was a real shame lehman quit the role as she was really born to play it, she had it nailed perfectly and could inject humour, compassion, sarcasm, pain and anger all into it so well. I can't imagine anybody else nailing the role of bea the way she did-an excellent character and lehman played the hell out of her.
Her character got annoying though initially she was a bit softer in character
As much as we love the actors they get sick to death of doing the show and I'm sure a lot thought because their famous they could get work elsewhere which wasn't always the case
Bea is the definition of tough skin with an elastic heart. ruclips.net/video/DweJe0b2jEo/видео.html
Shane Folan. What a marvellous comment. I’m in the process of rewatching episodes. Your comment encapsulates what val lehman did with the role of Bea smith. She personalised it and made the part her own. Again, great comment. Sums up the actors work x 😊
No one did the top dog, Bea Smith role as well. She played the Bea Smith character the best.
Val played Auntie May much later on. After Lizzie and The Freak, Nolene is my fav, pity she wasn't on the show for longer.
I like Nolene's hatchet face!!
Val never played Auntie May later on it was the lady who played her mate that played Auntie May
@@veronicabrewer7376 I'm talking about the character Val not Val Lehman.
@@veronicabrewer7376 I'm talking about the character Val, who went on the play Auntie May, not Val Lehman.
I can't stand noeline, she's so miserable and annoying
I like how Bea's looking out for the young girl, probably doing for her what she couldn't do for her daughter, sweet.
She is actually her daughter
Yes Yvonne the neighbour is Val Lehman's real life daughter
The girl who portrays Debbie is also her daughter too
I can't get the image of "a whole nest of inbred Burkes living in the valley" out of my head now.
Nolene's brother Col (Brian Granrott) also played Ron Patterson ep 336, Mr. Dunstan ep 386, Bruce Harvey ep 445 and Mr. Fuller ep 472.
Funny comment from Val to Bea regarding Yvonne: what do you care about her she's not yours! well actually she is.
She must have been the ugly sister, the other one didn’t look so bad.
The Burkes are kind of Aussie chavs...they would go down a treat on Jeremy Kyle
+Kaluthrica If you visit Chatham in Kent you will see dozens, nay hundreds, of Burke look-a-likes. It is awe-inspiring the number of single mums, aged about 17, already pregnant for a second time, you see wobbling about. The whole town ought to be nuked, to be honest. And, if you think I'm being unfair, then set foot in it and you'll soon change your mind.
+derby1884 I have never been there, but I understand what you mean. It seems there are places like this everywhere. When I first started watching JK, I could not believe the mentality of some of his guests, & would think "Where the heck does he find these people?". Many badly-dressed, with no pride in their appearance, loud-mouthed & yelling, while wildly pointing their finger at each other, arguing over who is sleeping with this, that or whoever, & seemingly intent on breeding as many kids as possible. Either that, or they have no idea about contraception
Well, over here, the more kids you spawn, the more benefits you get. So, in their tiny minds, it makes sense to breed indiscriminately. A "career move". Though that may be about to change if proposed legislation goes through.
+derby1884 You should see what it's like up here in Washington.
We have them where I live but Chatham was a real eye-opener to me. I've never seen swarms of them in such a small area before. Is that Washington, Northumberland or Washington, USA?
I think the guy playing Colin Burke is one of the best actors I've ever seen on the show. He has got "gormless" down to a fine art!
Col's a couple of stages beyond gormless!
@@stevenmcghee6649 I cannot tell how much I hate the gunman, 🤦 (the actor is great of course,) he lost his hostages, and then turns the gun on his own sister. He's mentally inept but has negative one percent integrity to boot.
He reminds menofbthatbtotally gormless idiot from the movie Ruthless people who lived in a caravan.
He comes back later, playing the same type of character.
I doubt you can get that hammered on booze that's only been brewing for a few hours.
Love how its a seige and the police are in the street, no cordoned off, no bullet proof protective wear... like when kids play cops and robbers! Fabulous!
Carols Family & Friends Yes 😃
It's probably a realistic portrayal of how the Aussie police would have handled it at that time.
If only they had a time machine they could have gone back exactly 100yrs and borrowed good Ol' Ned kelly's bullet proof vest 😂🤣
"You're worse than useless Colin". Bit of an understatement there I think, for I think Col Burke maybe gives fresh meaning to the term "gormless!"
Wel, what an acting tour de force this episode was. My particular favourite was Mr Woods. That live interview he gave to the news crew (while the policemen stood there, casually chewing toothpicks) was gripping. The tension was truly palpable. And what about that spontaneous birthday party with all the cordon bleu courses - truly a searing indictment of the brutal conditions women prisoners face. If this episode was passed up for an academy award, there's no bloody justice.
To know that the little brat next door is Beas real daughter LOL! Their interaction was hilarious.
I like Vera she is a hard ass but she does some heroic stuff in these early episodes,
Vera. " if i set a light cushion on his shoudler can you run fer it?"
LOL!! I came here for this comment! That bit killed me.
Vera knocking him on the head with the couch cushion...Oh my...😏
It served no purpose either, other than making him aware of what was going on.
Quality moment.
The girl that plays Yvonne - Joanne Lehman is actually Val Lehman's daughter in real life🙂😉.
She looks a lot like her mum Val.
Worse actor, though.
Yes she,s the image of her mam Val . When she rings the cops she dials 999 ,thought it was 911 over there?
@@rosiew1952I believe it is 000

Nolene looks like a woman I used to work with, she had the same attitude too. Her initials were JG. Tbh Prisoner is a iconic show, never get tired of watching it.
Yes, the fashions and attitudes of the time make it fascinating. The show actually covers the first 8 years of my life so I'm sort of interested in it from a personal point of view if you know what I mean, (although I'm British not Australian).
She’s a nasty little lady nolene I wish Bea was back to sort her out
Mr.Woods cracks me up with his Aussie/Welsh/ Posh freaky accent 😂😂. " A whole nest of them !!" Lmao 😂
The welsh are fab people
Tupperware is really big in Australia apparently!!!!😁
The whole thing with Noeline’s brother is annoying and stupid. Wish they would just focus on the women in the prison
I agree, and Noelines brother are just boring to watch.
drunk Doreen is precious❤
I like Vera in this one, too. It reminds me of another episode where the Freak actually does something heroic in a similar situation. The world isn't always black and white.
Vera's got guts.
Gotta love Vera x
27:38 Lyn talking about Monica when she's 2 seats down, real smart. Cole reminds me of Cleetus from the Simpsons lol. The Burkes make the Adams family look like the Crawley's from Downtown Abbey.
I have been drinking for the last 25 years, I have never encountered people who act the way the people act whist drunk like the people on Prisoner.
I love the fact that in the last episode, they said Noeleen was 'the smart one of the family...' I actually think they might be right.... But only just!!! :-)
Sad, isn't it?
Why did costume put Noeline Burke in the same coat as Erica Davidson?
nice toothpick detective, and the bloodstains on mr woods jacket from being shot r sooo fake, he is giving an interview and wearing a sling right after being shot, detective still with toothpick lol, and I didn't know grog could ferment so fast !
"They'll accuse us of police brutality." "Yeah you know where we can get breakfast around here?" 😂
Anyone else spot Deborrah Lee Furness aka Mrs Hugh Jackman in this episode? The scene when Clara is showing Mrs Davidson around the kitchen.
"Bloody cops... they never leave a bloke alone!"
Bloody people who write down what we've just seen.
Why is Lizzie always yelling? 😅 Jeez
Lmao I know shes so noisy 😂😂😂😂
Loud obnoxious, drunken Lizzie we all love
Oh gee. Buggar having Vera handling me when I'm that crook :O
Why do some episodes end with a sung theme and some don't. Nolene is hot!
It rotates between the two versions. Good idea: it would get irritating otherwise.
Vera hitting col on the head with a cushion 😂
Mr Woods….. Prisoner seems to take extra care when casting the women, the men…. Mr Woods, is it wrong of me to want Col to put him out of my misery? 😜
I agree: Nolene's family is fun to watch, and I actually feel sorry for them.
they're hilariously stupid
In-breeding producers strange results
Ew! I nearly gagged when Noleen put her hands in the grog to stir it and then drinking it off her fingers. I’d never be able to drink it afterwards although I’m sure it kills germs! 😂
I guess Nolene is the smart one of the bunch!
aowens9192 scary thought lol
Noeline's bro looks like he needs to give his hair a good wash. Monica thinks she's Al Capone with her grog and protection rackets, and generally lording it over the others lol.
I always assumed Lorna and Tina were more of a constant presence, but I don't think I've seen them for about 20 episodes now! Was expecting to see them at the birthday dinner
lol, how much ammunition did this Cole bring to what was supposed to be a simple robbery? By the way he fires, it seems he has deep pockets full of it.
3:30 - Mrs Hugh Jackman. I just can’t believe it. There’s no justice in the world.
The two cops are positively embarrassing. They hear gunshots, and the one calls out through his hands, "Alright now, what's going on!" LOL.
That nolene's brother is the worst actor so far in this and that's really saying something.
"Some sort of inbred filth" :D
Try going to Canberra Australia's capital at least half of the women look like their sisters .a lot of places were very isolated in Australia therefore people didn't travel outside their own little town so when it came to breeding the genetic diversity wasn't that great
@@jamesbooth5595 Don't worry over here in the states genetic diversity isn't great either. In particular West Virginia and trailer parks all over the U.S. White trash galore.
The closed captioning is hysterical. If all you did was read it, this would the funniest show ever.
The menu Donnie Darko made darling!
That Col was an animated corpse! As the cop asked where he could get breakfast and they camera was on Col's dead body under the cover, you could see him breathing!
The blonde girl Connie is married to Wolverine. The acting while anyone's drunk is terrible.
Since wen could Vera drive im watching PCBH for the 3rd time n never notice that she drove to the seige n I can't recall her driving in any other episode
Charlene Abbey Vera drives a certain Screw to her wedding
Katelyn in a very recycled black, cheap, plastic tacky hat! 😂👍🏻👌🏻
Mr woods, couldn't act to save his bloody life💩💩💩💤💤
Note to self: Australian gun men are easily stopped with seat cushions.
42:21, one of the rare moments that the word 'shit' is mentioned on this show.
John P Walters It has been mentioned a few other times, but seems to appear less and less in later episodes.
The lady that plays as LYNN WARNER in real life is she related to OLYVIA NEWTON JOHN?
Cole sounds like Jasper Carrott doing a daft voice.
Tupperware is really big in Australia apparently!!!!😁
it must be difficult for an actor to play a simpleton
True.
Wheres cat face Jean gone, was she sacked because she seemed to leave rather abruptly. Lets hope she doesnt rush back.
Back in Whoville.😢
This is considered the worst episode of the whole show, and rightly so. I'm surprised it wasn't axed after this fiasco.
Johan Gustafsson thankfully it gets better from here, love Prisoner.
Really? I thought it was quite an interesting episode, to take most of the action outside the prison for a change. I agree that if every episode was like this one it would be a bit rubbish, but it's an unusual episode.
Bloody liz and doreen singing hammered on home brew 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's amazing how they manage to make home brew strong enough to get them drunk in under a day.
I was thinking that too! I used to work at a brewery. It takes days to ferment
im ashamed to say i was kinda pleased when the husband got shot
I liked the echo when he was shot.
Me too, i hate posh snobs like him
Poor Noleen’s life is plagued with tragedy just look what happens in a future episode.
Why the hell did Bea totally stop wearing her wig. Couldn't she at least have put on the wig before seeing the teens???????
There are many TD that come and go but Bea was my favorite, because she didn't rip the women off, like Monica and other TD's...The birthday party for Clara, was just a joke!...She has not grasped the fact, that regardless of her up bringing, she is still a thief and in Prison because of the crime she did!...Lizzie's home brew must be out of this World, because everyone gets plastered...HILARIOUS!...Noelene is hilarious and as annoying as she can get, she grows on one!...The women of this era, are either posh stuck up and entitled, where the Men are pompous and arrogant!...I'm pleased I wasn't born into that era or too young to understand, but it explains a lot as to why my Mother was so unhappy, as we grew!
Yup😅
True mate. To me the show goes downhill after Bea, Lizzie, Doreen leave, they were Prisoner. Shame it came to an end. The new remake is a load of crap it'll never take the place of this show never.
The hubby in the holdup looks a bit like Harry Enfield lol.
4th time around and still love it xx
God! The overacting by Mr Woods is beyond belief.
Have another drink nole! Don't mind if I do haha
😂😂😂😂😂
Love Beas one liner you’d make a terrific target in those tight jeans they’ll be calling you squeaky
3:28 What's with the 'Give me.. give me' wt??!! LOL
How many bullets in that rifle? more than 2 clearly...
the husband was hilarious
Sounds like he belongs in a comedy sketch show.
@@andrewmorrice9139 exactly!!😅
Was that the tip of the boom mike we see at 45:20? : )
lol comic relief.. she really kicked his as with that pillow.. 43:08 lol that shit was so weak.. and then Col, "eh wait.. you can't! " also, he had no clue they were even running away, and only turned around when she threw a pillow at him.. lol
+EmmA Pestilencia also, someone better check that corpse, i think he is still alive under that blanket, lol.
Love the fact that Noeline puked in one of their vases
thats bea's real life daughter
Sigh, the dreaded Col Burke episode...
Lmao, Nolene’s head banged on the table, I’m dying 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So on Aussie TV you could say "shit"??? Wow!
@41:40 crime has his back to the window. Nowadays cops would have already blasted him
col burke was once in the buzzcocks
Has anyone noticed that when Erica and noleen arrive at the house they duck down on the WRONG SIDE of the car? They put themselves between the car and the house instead of BEHIND the car!!!
I take it back. The pregnant womans husband is worse.
whats with everyone in this show constanly smoking everywhere? and pouring whiskeys from the glass decanters? like constant? everyone in the 70s alcoholics!
Although in reality people probably drink a lot more today because everyone drinks huge quantities of wine and gin these days which they weren't back then.
Australia. But yes everyone remotely cool in the 1970s and 1980s smoked from the time they were 11. Luckily for me I wasn't cool at all so I'm still alive in my 40s and my beloved husband who started at 11 is not. 😴
The music from the police stand off sounds like the soundtrack to Charles Bronson's movie THE MECHANIC! Good choice, if true!
You're destroying police property Burke lol
i thought yvonne looked familiar so checked n shes val lehmans other daughter joanne. her other daughter who played debbie was cassandra lehman xxx
Really weird how many of the crims on ere dont take accountability for their own actions.
Like with Doreen and Frankie. Frank gets shot, and all they do is blame the cop.
Every shootout theyve had...lol. OMG.
LOL Noeleen has a HANGOVER, shes not got spinal difficulties, the way theyre dragging her around!!! Wish I had someone dragging me to the breakfast shop when I had a hangover. Do love Noeleen lecturing him when shes in agony hehehe - vera throwing a cushion at col.. lol
The lady with the pigtails drinking from the bottle in the laundry is a young Debora Lee Furness wife of Hugh Jackman.
Wolverine is he Australian
Col - a special kind of stupid. Bravo on Vera for the redemption. Those cops on the scene kinda sucked; really no parameter around the house??? Maybe sneaking in through the back??? The one smart thing was not arming Vera; I was thinking they could slide a piece in Vera's coat pocket, but even in her hungover state I'm sure Noeline would have seen that. I sort of like the way Clara is cheerfully gaming the system.
This show always made Australian law enforcement look like flaming idiots😭
dingles in emerdale similar to the Burks.
🙂🤗The Dingles had more Class👌🏼 & a lot more intelligence, Than the Burk family.,in all honesty 🤗.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They make the Dingles looks like the Crawleys from Downtown Abbey lol.
Classic bogan talk "Why don't you's all go away" Cringe. You's isn't a word.
18:29 Deborra-Lee Furness , Hugh would have been 11 when this came out.
Noeline's such a classic
That inspector is useless why is he on the police force
Wish my home made grog would ferment in just a few hours!
I missed those characters, but I also like others that came along later. Guess I shouldn't mention them--I don't want to give stuff away for people watching this for the first time.
That's me. Thanks.
They need to be warned about some of them.
