    I always thought how ironic it was that Ferguson stole the cash so she'd escape the grueling and depressing life of being in a prison for so much of her life yet doing so meant she ended up back in jail and this time she was unable to leave.
    Also felt it was ironic that Ferguson wanted the money to get away from the prison job when she reveled in it and loved the power and authority. It was her life.

      Yes, you're right. However, ITV and it's regional variations did give a lot of viewers of Prisoner a poor deal when it was being shown as Val Lehman has said. She also pointed out the inconsistencies in the scheduling around the UK regions and the tampering of certain episodes. It may all be old hat now, and this is certainly not meant to be any stain on the nostalgia, but it is with thanks to years of campaigning that fans wishes finally paid off. I have to point out that some DVD releases still contain cut scenes from certain episodes which have been subject to tape deterioration and lawful cases of copyright. RUclips contains full versions of all 692 episodes thanks to PrisonerCellBlockH95 making the show an online treasure, but for how long is anyone's guess.

    • @Summer21.
      @Summer21. 3 года назад +2

      ELLA HORNBY Yes, there needs to be a new release of the whole series on DVD without edited scenes, due to tape deterioration, or copyright reasons, if they can find those better quality master tapes out there.
      Some episodes up to episode 165 have been blocked on RUclips, despite a few episodes before then slipping through the net.
      The Emily Perry poisoning case would be no problem in Australia now as she died some years back after Shock released a DVD of the Edna Pearson Story and with permission of Fremantle. 😃
      The only problem is with that release is that episode 470 is missing a scene, but apart from that all of the episodes in that DVD release are intact. 😃😊👍🏻

    Anyone noticed how 'Wentworth' (brilliantly, in its dying embers as it sadly heads towards its last 15 or so episodes) has several key character names in common with Prisoner's last episode? I know Wentworth was a 'reimagining', but you've got to see some Merle in Boomer (character-wise) and the way she hates Ferguson. And the fact we now have Ann Reynolds. And a doctor studying inmates. And two sniffing about cops. And Rita Connors escaping and Mr Jackson being sympathetic to inmates all over the place but struggling with his own being. A double dealing officer Mr Adams (maybe a few Smiles to be had here) and a certain Kath Maxwell enters the plot? If you're unfamiliar with Prisoner: Cell Block H, its very last episode is iconic. Rita Connors realises her cancer isn't terminal. The ultimate beater. Joan Ferguson ends up incarcerated and a certain....Kath Maxwell becomes top dog! Twists and turns, twists and turns!

      Yeah, you're right. I mean, all we ever get on Gold is just the same things day in day out, year in year out. I think the internet is perhaps where PCBH will stay, although many episodes do seem to have fallen victim to copyright grounds on RUclips UK. I believe this is a Fremantle International issue, and not RUclips intentionally blocking content on their own accord.

    • @31cify
      @31cify 3 года назад +3

      Another good point, although DVD and RUclips have been pretty good alternatives to catch up with the show again. There has been some campaigning for a few years to have the show come to Netflix, but nothing has happened there. As the uploader has said, you'd think one channel would have repeated it again, given it's popularity and number of channels we have. I'me not sure of your region, but PCBH seems to be slowly disappearing from RUclips UK now, which is clearly the action taken by Fremantle International to block infringing episodes on grounds of copyright.

    Accidentally started watching this at 13. Never did see the ending or
    Bea's demise. Watching the last
    Episode 40 something years later
    Only reminds me what a lucky escape I had from watching cell
    Block H from beginning to the End.
    You'd need to be a juvenile to watch it. It was honestly like watching a very cheap documentary of people with learning difficulties. Very painful to watch, kept my finger on fast forward only because I was curious about the ending 😂 won't
    Ever watch it again !! 🤮

      Rodney was there until the end. As for Delia ... that's one of Prisoner's great mysteries.

      @Cathrine Halfpenny Rodney must have been working inside of Wentworth when the Freak was given the walk of shame to the police car, by the police, in front of Ann, Meg, some of the other officers (Joyce and Marty included) and the inmates. 😃

    At what time did Scottish show the last episode? Meridian and Westcountry (the only other regions to show Prisoner on 19th November 1996) both started at 11:40pm

      Thanks again. Surprised to see Tyne Tees move an episode to a Monday on 03/08/1992 even with Thursday not available. I think they started using Mondays from October 1992 and dropped Sundays in November 1992. Who's Who has the start time for Border, Grampian, Tyne Tees and also Granada and TSW as 00.05 on 27/09/1992.

      Why did Border have to miss 71 episodes to catch up with Granada in November 1993? I don't think Border merged with Granada in the way Yorkshire and Tyne Tees merged.

    • @pak8606
      @pak8606 6 лет назад

      I believe Border made a booklet for Prisoner fans as they missed some significant moments. Do you have the dates for the remainder of 1992 for Border, Grampian, STV, Tyne Tees and YTV?

    The last year of this show was totally crap. Hence the low ratings , you could tell it becoming more comical , the bikie nonsense also the Freak would NEVER have fallen for that despite her hatred of the system . They should have ended it would Smith coming back to get revenge on the Freak for what they went through . They had a much more longer rivalry than Connors did with Ferguson. Also it was much darker and realistic as a prison back then.

    • @davidmills3332
      @davidmills3332 7 лет назад +1

      326 was aired in early 1994

    • @pak8606
      @pak8606 7 лет назад

      Would it be early 1993? I saw elsewhere that 372 was aired in July 1993, 400 in October 1993 and 416 in November 1993.

    • @davidmills3332
      @davidmills3332 7 лет назад

      your right, it would have been early 93, because bea was still in it, she left it in 94 at some point and it went downhill from then on

    • @pak8606
      @pak8606 7 лет назад

      My initial guess for 326 would have been around late 1992

    • @davidmills3332
      @davidmills3332 7 лет назад

      well lets try and work it out, they showed 2 a week, it ended in November 96, 692 - 326 = 366 then divide by 2 = 153 weeks, so 326 would have aired in 1993

      Rita's 'death' was a trick, a sting to get Ferguson. That's why Reynolds had a quiet chat with the detectives.

      That's what I thought, she didn't actually die did she? Because how did they know Joan was off to the finance company at that given time when they caught her with the bag, Rita must have told them when and where so they be waiting for her.
      Clever acting to the end, and so compelling, each episode was unique and kept you gripped, nothing like that on tele nowadays.
