So, it wasn't just the Yorkshire Television region that used to chop and change the schedules for PCBH at the drop of a hat, to make way for snooker, parliamentary debates, etc. From what I remember, it used to be shown once a week, (pending aforementioned changes/postponements), for a while, but eventually becoming a twice week event. I believe on YTV at least, it ran from approximately 1985 until 1996. A series that ran for 7 years stretched out to 11! Nice to see some of the cast as they were back in 1989.

Great documentary - thanks for posting! Things like this, news reports, features and the like all too easily disappear from view so it's great that this was preserved, not just for the coverage of the show but also as a time capsule of those times when it was being aired on British TV and cast members not long after it had completed its run in Australia..

I am certain that this was also shown on Central in a post-News at Ten slot, and before that night's episode of PCBH in that region - or indeed they did a similar programme with presenter and later MP Anna Soubry involved. It rings a bell. It was made in Derby where the cast met, and it also had Sheila Florance involved before she passed away.
Amazing how Glenda Linscott looks as Chrissie Latham - one would never imagine Rita Connors looking like that.

About 30 years ago I subscribed to A Prisoner Cell Block H fan magazine, called blockade. It was about 90p or so. It ran for a while then they said they were going to do a bumper edition & it was about £5 or so. I never received it, wasn't sure if it was a con or not? Be interesting to see if anyone actually received the bumper issue.

I remember this being shown on Tyne Tees too - on a Sunday night, though that wasn’t Prisoner night. I thought it was 1988 but evidently it was 1989. I expect most of the ITV regions showed this doco, but scheduled it at different times.
