Were you told that? Or just an assumption? After all, that scene occurred further along the wall to the left of that shot at 3:40. And I don't recall anyone in the show who was standing directly on that corner, and was being shot at directly straight in front of the brick wall.
I was bit disappointed "Reception" wasn't inside that doorway. I was almost expecting to hear a voice scream at me "Stand on the White Line!" when the footage peeked inside the doorway. 😄
@@VictoriaBitter1976 Yeah I think back in the day, basically that studio is/was a warehouse, and technically you could've walked through areas where a "Reception Set" was built and once stood...That entire building would've probably had the wobbly walls making up the corridors. If anything, I reckon [as well as the exterior] the old brownish-floor would've been the only original feature left, as that would've made-up for the floor of the corridors....
@@SPIKE-0000 Even in those days, the buildings for tv stations still had separate studios with proper concrete walls in between each studio. Then there were the production, audio, editing rooms and so on above each studio. They weren't just one huge empty warehouse-like space and only had fake partitioned walls between each area/studio, etc.
Met the unit location manager Bob dillinger inthe pub next door he gave us a tour of set and watched naibours seeing filmed also met Joe mangle at the chuck van in the back lot 1990
Fantastic video. Thanks so much for sharing. I would’ve had to come out of the prisoner door with a pair of white undies on a stick in true honour of Lizzie Birdsworth
@@ashtonrichardson3825 when i seen the red building where prisoner was filmed and the door where the Wentworth Detention Centre logo was. That reminds me of when Meg Jackson(as she was then) played by Elspeth Ballentine inducted Karen Travers(Peta Toppano) and Lynn Warner(Kerry Armstrong)
Thanks for this great video - I just finished watching all 692 episodes of Prisoner and needed a fix - this did it! Favorite moment was the panning of the side door and especially the truck entrance, where many an escapee made their getaway via delivery van. Loved seeing the roadways and garden areas, particularly the bbq - I can just about hear Joan Ferguson shouting. Assuming this was filmed when posted, in 2022? If so, very glad to see the building and grounds looking so much the same. Some of the more sparsely-planted areas resemble "park" areas where escapees hid out, and parking lots that appeared in various episodes - wondering if that's so. Excellent share - thanks again!
The exterior set for Ramsay Street was a real residential street , Pin Oak Court. The TV producers paid the people who actually lived there to stay out of the way while they were filming.
Never understood why the "windows" were different sizes. I would understand if all the top ones were smaller to create an illusion but only half of them are.
The 3 upper right windows are smaller than the rest, because in ‘Prisoner’, those were the “block” cells- i.e. the solitary confinement cells, which had smaller windows to limit the amount of light coming through. Of course, in reality, that building was the studios and the windows, were fake to add to the illusion of it being an actual prison.
@@ashtonrichardson3825 I believe the red building used to be in the middle of nowhere until it got completely surrounded by development and real estate.
The houses used for the exteriors were real, but it was impractical to actually film inside them,. so the interior shots were filmed in the adjacent studios and it was all edited together afterwards to make it look continuous.
Not Ch.10 but *STATION ATV-MELBOURNE* backlot. The same building was also seen in "The Box", another show produced using the Station ATV-Melbourne backlot. Ch.10 was nothing more than 208-to-215 Mhz on VHF Band 3 in the analogue days. And it was *NEVER* "Prisoner Cell Block H" in Australia, the show's home market, it was simply "Prisoner".
All of those windows are fake and could be removed from that wall.. one of them was auctioned at the Prisoner 40th Anniversary and went to the UK .. Global Studios..If they still own the site.. could make a lot of money out of souvenirs both Prisoner and Neighbours although I doubt they will stoop to it..😮
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but what actually is the "Prisoner Cell Block H" building used for, or used to be used for? I know the one next door is used for writing because it says at the start of this video.
3:40 The holes in the wall here is from the Ruth Ballinger siege in "Prisoner", where the police were shooting at the terrorists
you mean they were actually trying to kill them?
Or was it the attempts to kill Tracey Morris?
Were you told that?
Or just an assumption?

No.
That siege happened further down to the left of the building.
How many miles is it, roughly, between where Neighbours and Prisoner were filmed? Question from the UK, (that's why I'm using miles).
2:03 Ahh...the doorway where many a prisoner and screw came to and froe....I'd NEVER seen beyond that door...until now:)....

Awesome video, thanks for sharing, big fan of prisoner and seeing the prison like it is now some 40 years later is amazing 👍

Thanks for sharing this video. I've been watching Neighbours since it first started, and I remember watching Prisoner when I was a kid.

Hahaha that scene came to mind when I filmed it!

Great video of where they filmed cell block h
Ive never watched neihgbours but it was great to see the wentworth detention centre!
I would love to go and visit it some time. I think it's in Nunawading. Joan Ferguson's house was number 27 Howard Street Box Hill, not too far away.
2:04 Suspense music while Bea Smith exits the Paddywagon to a shocked Franky 😊
Great video, such a shame they haven't placed a new 'Wentworth Detention Centre' sign there for old times sake

Very well captured, Ashton. 👏🎬
Mum's garden is completely overgrown lol

Good old Wentworth Detention center.
It's lovely. I'd love to see that. I've seen Pin oak court (Ramsey street) that's lovely too 🌺🌳🌸🌴
Loved prisoner cell block H and love neighbours. I’m so disappointed that I didn’t do the neighbours tour earlier 💔😢😢😢💔
Are they demolishing all the exteriors like Laseters etc ? I guess they will
Unfortunately yes, they are keeping the main red building, but the rest of the sets are being demolished for a housing estate
@@ashtonrichardson3825 omg all those beautiful plants etc that’s tragic really

Houses and flats ....same in the UK. no matter what history a place has. let's just flatten it for profit

Where can we get the tour for that?
I’d love a brick from the BBQ or even better the Prison 💯❤️🌹Prisoner: Cell Block H 👍

Leave them on the building so they remain there as part of history as opposed to in a random collectors house.

Pissing down rain cos Melbourne.
Yeah, if it was in Sydney, it'd be bucketing down more so.
I would like to see some stuff too,so thanks for nothing
@user-qb8gy2dn2w fuck you on about? You go and film there then. Oh that's right, YOU CAN'T!!
I hate neighbours I can’t stand the dumb show yuck
