When I get a new classroom/grade, I either take pictures of the room, or sit in it. I imagine when I would put things and where and how the children will move around the space. I call it "dwelling." I can sit there for an hour doing that. Then I draw out a floor plan. The walls, doors, windows and boards are in pen because they're permanent. The desks, tables, and chairs are in pencil, so I can erase. There are websites that you can use to do the same. But I'm old school. I started teaching in the 1990s. 😉
I think it will be fun to be in a portable! You have your own little building!

I have always been in a portable, we had to eat lunch in our classroom and the carpet was gross... Its awesome that you have a sink in yours, mine was dry, so no plumbing, water, etc....Im finally moving in the building which is exciting, but I would make a no Gatorade or colorful drink rule... Its a mess. Good luck this year!

I’m going to need my boyfriend my dad and my brother girlfriend help me when i have my classroom i always wanted to be a teacher because January I’m going back and graduate college at end of the year i go to hcc community college what college did you go to I’m staying in college for 4 years I’m so excited to go back again next year ☺️
I’m going to go back to college this January I’m so excited to go back to get my education for teaching I’m learning how to drive and have my own car of the end of the year I’m so excited my boyfriend is going to be school police officer for the school I’m going to be a reading teacher with speacial needs students ☺️

You can put magnetic tape on to the back of whatever you want to put on your white board!

Putting that rug over the outlet with the cords is a fire hazard.
I quickly realized that and took it down! That would not be fun 😅

My table groups lasted 3 days 😭 I have rows now lol but I also have 27 students in each rotation so maybe it was destined to fail 😂
Also, I love that your dad helped you! My dad also helped me with many, many bulletin boards 😂 I'm not in a portable but I also didn't have any boards & had to make my own. I also don't have a sink :( I do have an amazing window with a view though 🥰 Good luck this year! 5th grade twins

This will also be my third year teaching. I have taught 5th grade in California these past two years! I have a 8 month old baby. Having 16 students would be a dream !!! I have had 30 the past couple years and it seems the numbers will be the same ! 5th grade in California is a big year ! They get test in not only math and ELA but science and physical education.

If you do a "start student" just once a month, that won't give all students an opportunity. How do you ensure all students are acknowledged and not feeling left out of that?

Hi!!! I am a first year teacher this fall!! I just got the key to my classroom yesterday and I have carpet and no bulletin boards as well! I just started my channel a month ago and am going to try and create a classroom setup video next week. We will see how it goes lol!

Hello I’m watching this a a little late but love how inspiring you are and how hard working u are
Can't wait to see what you end up doing for your bulletin boards! bought 8'x4' sheets of foam insulation from Home Depot and put them up as make shift bulletin boards. It's easy to cut to size just with a box cutter. I covered mine with fabric but you can easily staple bulletin board paper or whatever you want as well. It has worked really well and has lasted for several years.
