You’re classroom looks amazing. Also, I’m going into my 26th year of teaching and I still get overwhelmed and anxious at the beginning of every school year. So don’t overthink it. You’ll do great. I can see the joy in your face while you were setting things up. When you start to feel overwhelmed or anxious just remember why you decided to become a teacher, it will remind you that it will all come together. Have a great beginning and can’t wait to see more content.
Well I'm an old teacher and I think your room is adorable! It's fine to put everything up, that way you dont forget to and you're ready to focus on teaching. ❤
I am a retired 1st grade teacher, and I would like to tell you that it's actually better NOT to have everything up on the first day of school. The kids will be overwhelmed also! Put up only the basics (calendar, library, headings on word wall, management routines you will need to teach Day One). Put up a few seasonal or decor items. Slowly add things as you teach them. Blends, minute intervals on clock, numbers to 120, words on word wall can come as kids need them. Blank areas of walls allow visual learners (majority of people) a place to rest their eyes. Be kind to yourself and your students,
Good advice! That's my philosophy this year. For the past five years I taught K-2 and this year I'm teaching sixth grade social studies! I had nothing middle school and I'm starting from scratch...new school new room. I just put the basics up and I will gradually add on.
Actually as a student an visual learner i find it quiet boring and lame and find it different and exciting walking into such and organized and decorated environment
as someone who is a student I think leaving the classroom empty doesn't make the room feel inviting for anyone, American schools already look like a prison cell as it is with little to no natural sun light, so a fully decorated room will help them to feel like it is an invitation to enter the room rather then making it feel like a jail
@@cattara1237 I wasn't recommending a blank room, just minimalist at the start. The bulletin boards done, alphabet, numbers to ten, color words. That may be enough for Day One.
@@karenbynum4445as a 2nd year preschool teacher I agree with you! It's overwhelming when you put everything up all at once. It leaves so much clutter. Especially when you consider holiday decor and other things like children's art work. It's just a lot that doesn't need to be up at first. Just start small and gradually build.
Hi Ms. Lopez, am Romen all the way from Jamaica and I just want to say, you are the best teacher! May this academic school year be your days filled with happiness and also a bright future filled with all the success and prosperity you deserve! Wishing the happiest of new years to the best teacher the world has ever known! May your days be filled with joy and peace! Remember to have fun while teaching.
Hint, use a clear pocket or clear paper sheet holder to put the voice level dots. Then the kids can change it for you by taking out the correct voice level.
You seem to be a very dedicated and enthusiastic teacher. You’re going to do very well. I am retired after 35 years of teaching 1st and 2nd grade but I also spent some years in 3rd and 5th and as a k-3 reading coach. Those trainings at the beginning of the year are overwhelming. Just let them be kind of on the back burner and focus on what you have to do with students for the first week. Everything will fall into place as you go.
I love the way your room turned out. The students will love it! I am starting my 28th year. I have taught both elementary and middle school. I moved to a new middle school across the district this year and have been a busy bee most of August, too. I can tell you are passionate and will be a wonderful, caring teacher! Best wishes for a great first day with first grade, Beki!
Thsi is crazy how u got all this done❤ I can’t believe this. When ur 1st grade kids look back at this there gonna be so happy of the amount of work you put in for them and the classroom!!!!❤❤❤
Hey I am your newest subscriber! I love your classroom. Your co-worker is so sweet! I love the book Same Same but Different. This is my 2nd year as a teacher. I started teaching 2nd grade this year!
Hi!!! First year teacher here as well!! I adore your classroom! It looks great! I saw this was your first video and subscribed and can’t wait to see more videos!! I just created my channel a month ish ago!!
I just loved this. I had a melt down because I begin working full time as a homeroom teacher in 2 weeks and I am just so overwhelmed. Like you, my room is sooo bare and I don't have many resources to set up my classroom. I love the way you decorated and organized things! It definitely seems like my style. Do you think you could share which TPT resources you used to print out? ie the hand gestures 1-5, alphabet and digraph posters, student number system...?
Hi there, I loved the work you put under the whiteboard with the 2 letter then a list of words. Was wondering where you got that from or if you made it yourself?
Hey Beki, where did you get your word blend posters under the whiteboard from? I like the idea of having that up in the classroom along with the alphabet. Thanks in advance.
Really madam.u r doing very well.even me I wanted to learn many things especially in kids Montessori school.bcoz even me in the near future wants to do.thanks for ur guide.
I have some jobs that you can add teacher’s helper: it means a student that can help people. Kindness captain: it could be two people students that look around and tell the teacher who’s kind and not kind except recess. i’m sorry, but I only have two jobs and I can figure out more for you.
My fifth grade teacher had these tiny circle light where all you had to do was press a button to turn it on. She put the lights next to text for voice levels. My third grade teacher used the same light but with different colors for bathroom breaks. One was pink so you just had to look at the light to see if it was on or not and then you can ask.
What did you use to make anything on the wall stick? Double sided tape? Velcro? Also do you recommend buying a laminator and paper cutter? I will be teaching third grade.
Girl I get you but trust me just stay in first grade because second grade is a big old handful. My name is Miss Hernandez and it’s very stressful. Tiring sometimes my class is pretty loud but we make a great team all together. I wish you good luck stay alive.😂
Omg! The same this happened to me one year when I was teaching…I lost a letter behind the whiteboard. I ended up putting caulk along the top of that board so it wouldn’t happen again!
I am a student, and I'm in 4th grade, I like to learn so much! But I totally get how stressful I can be to be doing this. I hope you have a wonderful year with you student, and stay happy. ❤❤ 2024
This is my junior year… and I am an inch away from quitting 😭😭😭😭 but running into your video you’ve motivated me… 🤍🤍🥹🥹 what’s really killing me is lesson internalization 😫😪 I’ve lost 40% of my hair, severe acne, horrible panic attacks… but I’m trying to take it one day at a time. 😮💨 full time student, full time worker, full time mom, softball coach, baseball coach, and a wife… every second counts 😭 great job Mrs.Lopez!!!!
