  • Many people want to switch from the old android to something more decent, but there is not always a budget. There are many options what to choose, but most often people start looking at which of the iPhones is the cheapest, but to still work properly and get updates. The first generation iPhone SE just fits the right criteria in 2022. However, the model is controversial and will not suit everyone. Just so you can decide on the choice, I have been with SE for a long time and now I'm ready to tell you about all the nuances.

    The SE/5/5S model will always be the best iPhone design for me. I didn’t get to use them as my first iPhone (I started with SE2), but it was definitely my dream phone. I was even considering to buy the phone… just because. Lol. Great video!!

    I'm still using a 1st gen SE as my daily driver and it is honestly astounding how capable this phone is. It was released in 2016 but it is using 2015 hardware from the 6s, however is still supported by Apple and is running the latest builds of iOS 15 perfectly. Aside from the casual social media, web browsing and messaging apps, I often shoot and edit videos and RAW photos directly on this phone which is very taxing on the hardware, and it never disappoints. The small footprint and consequent small battery capacity can be a nuissance, but on the other hand it can also be quite refreshing to have a smaller phone, especially when you know how capable it can be.
    Best wishes from Portugal.

      worth to buy still ?

    • @mikerelvas
      @mikerelvas 2 года назад

      @@hassanjamal4212 that’s subjective. If the small footprint and outdated specs don’t bother you, then sure. It is the cheapest entry into the iPhone ecosystem that is still supported by Apple until the end of this year.

    • @mikerelvas
      @mikerelvas 2 года назад +1

      @@hassanjamal4212 performance and stability wise the 1st gen SE will likely smoke most entry level Android phones. An entry level Android’s longevity is not something to brag too much about, given that it’ll probably get 2 years of OS updates and by then the hardware can’t keep up at all.

    I actually went back to my SE from 2016 from iPhone X.
    I do not have any incentive to carry a bigger phone. When I do need a larger screen I have my iPad or Laptop.
    SE is still decently fast. Feels not slower in day to day use than my X felt. Some apps do open slower, but that's it in my use case.
    Battery is an issue though. But I carried a battery case when travelling. I mean you save a lot of weight with the phone anyway. So the occasional extra lift for a battery pack isn't really an issue.

    I only use my SE as an iPod touch but it’s unlocked. This is what I did to save battery life…
    - Keep storage at 70% filled or less. Mine is 33% filled.
    - Use Brave Browser over Safari.
    - Don’t use widgets even in the Today View.
    - Keep at low power mode at all times (see battery yellow).
    - If you update the software, do a fresh restore.
    - Location services off at all times.
    My battery life has gotten better doing all those but it’s still not great. But it doesn’t drain chunks at a time. Instead of 4%, more like 2%. Standby time went back to normal after a fresh restore.
    My SE’s battery health went from 99% to 92% after 17 months but iOS15 really killed it. I only use it for RUclips, light browsing, and screen recording nude scenes.
    Good phone. I like mixing and matching it with my foldable flip phones and Pixel 3 which I turned into my Dreamcast/PSP.

      All browsers on iOS use the same engine. You aren’t saving any battery using a different browser. The only difference is the skin.

    the last model steve jobs made was iphone 5. he refused to let apple make bigger phones and thought it should always fit in ur pocket and hand. because iphone 5 becamse 5s became SE gen1, its tecnically the last and most advanced model phone steve jobs had a hand in.

    I have been using my older SE (2016) for almost a year, since August 2021, since I provided my 12 mini to my son. I am very interested in the 13 mini, but too expensive for me at the moment. so I am looking for the 11 or just stay with the SE (2016) I do have an 8 Plus, but too big for pocket carry in my opinion. So far, so good, I will use it until my service provider tells otherwise. I do use a OnePlus 8 for stream, not carried in pocket.

    • @Bendaak
      @Bendaak 2 года назад +4

      It’s not really unusable. I have one and I have all my media apps, IM apps and everything else installed whilst on iOS 15.5 with no issues. I have 2.5gb spare too. The problem is you cannot download your music, podcasts or take too many videos on this device. Gaming is difficult too with such a small drive. It’s fine if your stream everything on 4G/WiFi.

      I got 128 gb, great battery health & works great on iOS 15. I got tons of songs saved and a couple movies. Love it. And it’s unlocked so can travel with it.
      Also, Apple just gave it a security date back in October of this year. So, iPhone SE works great.

      @maxcalifornia94 Cool. I still have mine as a secondary device. It got 15.8, not a long time ago. Upgraded to the same newer version, which is the SE 3. Best phone I ever had. The biggest upgrade was battery life and the ability to be on the latest version of iOS. But I still can't get used to the lack of headphone jack lol

    I have had my SE for 5 years. It is my everyday phone 📱 for communication and (everyday useable) photos.
    It fits in your pocket.
    Since then my phone company has given me two extremely powerful Samsung 6 inch upgrades with Amoleod screens and powerful processors and multiple lenses.
    Problem? Too big. I keep them at home for Netflix and Amazon, also Instagram ,RUclips. Excellent
    Iphone SE is a good communication device to keep in your pocket.
    So many people put their Iphone 13 pro and Galaxy s22 in the coffee shop and lose them. TOO BIG.

I bought the new se3 yesterday .. its also small but big enough for todays time.. and is has 5g.. ok yes its much more expensive though.. but you can get the se 2020 and still be good for another 5 years..

    Excellent review. My SE was recently going haywire. I replaced the battery ($50Au) and it is llike a brand new phone. I mostly use an iPad Pro and see the phone as a backup Communication and photography device and for playing podcasts. I'll probably upgrade to an iPhone 15 pro max when hopefully they finally ditch the lightning port but I know I miss the small form factor. ☕️🦘
