LOL @ "What is this cheap box?!?" 🤣🤣🤣 Your commentary is absolutely hilarious, Uptick!! The Cubitus is scarier than the movie 'Seven'!!!..."What's in the box?!?...What's in the box???" HIDEOUS watch...
No matter how it looks, Petek simps will eat it up anyways. I for myself like the looks, but you're on point that it's too similar to the Nautilus. They should have at least thought up a novel bracelet
The green is over US $40,000. The platinum is over US $80,000. The “we need to make watches not just for millionaires” gag 😂😅. Like you said Cartier and GO are better for people who want a square watch.
Very good. Especially the name I’m not sure about. I know Cubitus means Elbow, but from my time working in a hospital I know Decubitus, so this is what first came to mind.
Wow, i love this new Cupitus. A dream comes true. Specially fantastic for larger wrists. Personally, i hope not to wait for years. Congratulation to Patek. At the beginning i thought Mr. Stern himself commented the video😂😂😂😂🎉🎉
The blow of this unsavory design would have landed like cashmere had Patek at least created a "new" in-house square movement for the watch (but not even that).
I agree. Design is very subjective. It's the laziness I am concerned about. I love patek. But if they did a new watch design with a shaped movement. No matter how "ugly" people will judge, it has more integrity and authenticity than this one.
Stern have created cubitus to try to steer away the Nautilus hype but indirectly increase the Nautilus hype.. The AD and grey dealer will forever be thankful to Stern
Everything you said. 40+ grands for a 45mm square watch in steel, with a completely unimaginative design, waterproof to 30m, sporting a 27mm round movement with no internal angle and a power reserve of 45 hours. If Stern the Little wasn't taking himself so very seriously, I'd be thinking he was having a laugh.
Hilarious commentary and bang on, this won’t making dollar at auctions 30 years from now…much like those 70’s monstrosities…and 85% of the watch world is sane…😂
@@mkyhou1160 if you say so. It’ll look nice evening flipped at 2/3 retail despite what you say I guess too. I think if they’d made it a few mil smaller it would be an absolute winner! I also think in 5 years it will be regarded as highly as the Aquanaut at least but who cares. Most of those hating have no owned a single watch at a level of Patek/ Lange/ VC etc.
Many Pateks are trading below list prices in the secondary market, for good reasons. I think the Crapitus is gonna break new low relative to the list price. I will take the JLC Squadra, anytime.
I found the information that Ben Clymer shared on Hodinkee about the conversation with the CEO shocking. Apparently, this was an attempt to distance the Nautilus from being the face of the brand, a way to attract new young customers to Patek, and very likely will help wind down the Aquanot. This doesn’t distance the brand from the Nautilus, introduces a Aquanot alternative that people don’t like, and moves the price point up another $15,000 for the entry level steel model in comparison to the Aquanot. (which is supposed to help attract a younger clientele). 😂 I can’t believe people actually want to buy this starting at $41,000 - it looks like a badly oversized and unrefined take on a Cartier Santos. I also love the honesty from Uptick. You build trust and credibility in drips and drops, and lose it in buckets with customers. This does put a blemish on the pedigree of the brand for me as well.
What can Ben, now literally a Patek salesman at Watches of Switzerland, say... I imagined he was holding his tongue so badly. And really, is Stern so out-of-touch that he would even believe in what he's selling here?
I genuinely thought this was a joke... Even after seeing the write-ups and website I still can't actually believe it. Or unsee it. Halloween comes early. The utter banality of the concept... AND THE SIZE!!! The thing's the size of a Fifty Fathoms, except it will wear bigger, 'cos it's square... Oh my days... shock... Patek's 'Code' moment. They need a 36/37mm classic Calatrava, fast... I can only imagine the look of horror on my Patek AD's face when she saw this...
Great vid, hilarious, but I like it, and I like it better than a Nautilus, this has a more manly stance imo, the Nautilus a bit effeminate for me, but you made some very valid & entertaining points, agree on the movement especially.... 🍻
55 year watch enthusiast... I saw three versions of the Cubitus last night at the local PP boutique. It looks better than I originally thought. In my view, it remains far too large for most people. The case is thick, and in the chronograph version the dial is hopelessly unbalanced and busy. Not good. Nice try, Mr. Stern, your comments regarding potential clients will not be forgotten. Sadly, his words remind me of a person who was born with a platinum spoon in their mouth in terms of arrogance and looking down on other people. People who are self made do not act like this.
Very funny narration. I'm curious about the one of the last lines you said in the video- do you think the Sterns are trying to sell the company to a conglomerate like Richemont?
The bond with LVMH seems strong at least. If the Arnaud kid doesn't turn LV into something that elevates a bit their fairly naff watch brand portfolio, why not?
Had me cracking up the whole way 😂 would we call this the epitome of boardroom design? They get such bad group-think that they don’t realize it’s ugly and looks like an Apple Watch!
The 45mm sizing is just wrong in my view. It s like Octo Bulgari! However I m sure when the hype starts kicking in, it d just be the next Nautalus mainly due to hype

A couple things are hurting their brand far more than this unfortunate design: 1) making watches for rappers and athletes and 2) the fact that they are simply not at the top of the watchmaking game.
