    Brilliant! I've heard this sonata thousands of times but, in a sense, your performance makes me feel that I am hearing for the first time.

    Beethoven neu und alt zugleich: schlichtweg faszinierend! Man traut seinen Ohren nicht: Beethovens Kreutzer-Sonate, die man zu kennen glaubte, wird zur Offenbarung. Beim ersten Anhören mag zunächst der Einsatz der Gestaltungselemente (Tempi, Dynamik, Agogik, freies Ornamentieren) so verblüffend sein und als "Aha-Erlebnis" im Vordergrund stehen, bis dann Beethoven und sein Werk auf neue Weise erlebbar werden. (Am vergangenen Wochende hörte ich die beiden großen Künstler live und verdanke ihnen eines der mitreißendsten Konzerterlebnisse meines langen Lebens, ja mehr noch: eine Sternstunde!). Danke, Shunske Sato und Shuann Chai und -natürlich Beethoven, dem immer wieder überraschenden Genie!

    stunning performance by two of the most imaginative musicians out there. I've always had a soft spot for Shunske's playing and he never fails to deliver. I'm so grateful

    not Arthur Grumiaux but I wasn't expecting that. I love the piano! and the very interesting lack of vibrato. The Dutch Bach Baroque Orchestra lost an excellent leader and our ears have gained some wonderful new sounds.

      @@TheCreate78 Hi, we had contact with our digital distributor.
      Unfortunately, Deezer has changed its way of accepting releases. They curate new releases and decide weither is of value to their users. Somehow they decide a lot of our release are not worth it, including this Beethoven album.
      At our website you can buy digital files as well, so you can listen to all of them. (We even have a combo deal with all sonatas on audio and the entire Kreutzer on video).

      Rubato on the macro and micro scale was a common and ubiquitous practice into the early 20th century - there is ample written documentation as well as historical recordings that show this. If you're interested you can have a listen to the examples below (I'd be happy to share more with you):
