The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,800 a month, and a couple on Social Security averages over $2,800 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a great standard of living in many countries such as Turkey, Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Italy, Philippines, Thailand, Ecuador, and many others when compared to the living costs in the US. If you dreamed of traveling as a nomad in retirement this video is for you.
The Schengen Agreement has ruined the dream for millions around the world to slow travel through Europe. Gone are the days of crossing from Spain to France and resetting your clock in a neighboring country. If your country of citizenship is not a member of Schengen you have to look at these 29 countries as one, an American can only spend 90 days out of 180 days between all 29 countries. Montenegro and a handful of European countries including the UK are options to live in to reset your Schengen clock. If you’re an American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander, or from South Africa a Non-Schengen country like Montenegro should be in consideration for your investment budget. Even if you’re not choosing residency in Montenegro, it’s a great place to live 90 out of 180 days if you need to leave the Schengen. There are some residency options available through a few Schengen countries, but most of these require €500,000-€1,000,000 invested in or paid to the country. Italy has some options that are vaguely written and subjective to local decisions that can be inconsistent. To us Montenegro is the easiest and possibly most cost effective options available if Europe residency is desired.

Great info. I spent 8-days in Tivat in July and loved it. This year I arrive in Dubrovnik, Croatia April 2 and will be in Montenegro starting April 26th for 3-months then on to Albania for 2-months then Europe until Oct 24th (getting on the slow cruise ship home to US). Looking forward to it.

We have to stay in Montenegro for 11 months per year , then we get the temporary permit for second year and like that we have to live for 5 years and then we get PR.. if we dont live for 11 months , we wont get the second TP .. no one say this ..
We do mention there is no longer a path to PR through home residency. We also mention if you do corporate residency you must be there without leaving for more than 10 months in 5 years to be eligible for PR.
This is the one part of the MNE residency that is the most difficult.

So, you can come into Montenegro and stay longer than 3 months if you have a corporation or purchase property?For property ownership you must stay in Montenegro 11 months of every year and you renew this visa yearly, correct? Also, healthcare there is good for smaller issues not major heath problems/surgeries? Where is the closest country to have major surgeries accomplished?

What are the income requirements for a retirement visa? My wife & I are both on the middle-to-lower end of the monthly Social Security scale; but we live very well on what we receive. Thanks.

@@ElamCreekFarms If money is a concern, perhaps Serbia is a better choice for you. Montenegro seems to be a little expensive in turns of food and rent prices. Serbia or Romania are much bigger than Montenegro in land area and population. So things are cheaper there. I suggest you do research on this matter.

This one was helpful. It sounded like this option as a corporate resident route might work as traveling is required for your RUclips channel business so Immigration might accept it.

Thanks forbthe great info session. I am a bit concerned about permanent residency through property ownership. From what Nino said, it is not possible to obtain permanent residency after 5 continuous years of temporary residency, as with owning a business? Is this the case?
Yes that is the current case unfortunately.
Unfortunately those of us over 65 can't often easily any health insurance....
If the plan is to seek residency in Montenegro, health insurance there is very reasonable per month.
It is included in the taxes that you pay if you are forming a corporation for residency as well.
For residency under home ownership, insurance is an additional fee.

I believe the report is valid for six months. We will need to verify this however.

When forming a corporation and registering as a director, do I need to stay in Montenegro or it is "paper" residency? If still must to stay in Montenegro, then what is the minimum days required?
If you want to become a permanent resident there, you cannot be out of the country more than 10 months in 5 years.

Residency through home ownership is very restrictive.
Residency through corporation is not restrictive.

If you would like to retire in Montenegro, you will have a choice to either buy a home or form of corporation. Or you can choose to shuffle between two countries 90 days in and 90 days out. These are the primary ways that people retire into Montenegro. By forming the corporation, you get access to the countries medical system. I do recommend you actually watch the whole video, and if you have questions, email me so we can put you in contact with Nino.
What airline do you guys like the most for dogs?
We have flown Delta, Jet blue and Air Serbia with ours. All of them were excellent
Our friends love KLM and Lufthansa for their pet facilities etc.

There is not a minimum, it has to be habitable and paid for.

@@cath4life42 you can’t use a ruin until it’s habitable. You need a place suitable to actually live in. You should be living in the home you use for residency, you can short term rent it out if you are away.

Do you need a criminal history report for each year's temporary residency renewal?
I do not think you have to have this unless you let it lapse or stay out of the country longer than you are supposed to.

That was the value for citizenship by investment. That program is not available any longer. There is no minimum requirement for real estate. It must be habitable and not land.

Does the company need to make money or can you go as a pensionaire, set up a company for the sole purpose to get residency and just pay the 150 euros each month to stay in the country and after 5 years you get the permanent residency and delete the company? Asking for a friend.
It does not need to make money. I am not sure about the deletion part. That would be a question for our attorney.
