This lens along with the new 24mm f1.7, made me wish I also have a Z Fc now in addition to my full frame Z6, even though logically it's not necessary lol
I really like the Viltrox lenses, aesthetically speaking, on a Z fc. And I think they provide good value form the money, especially looking at the image quality. I've had the trio in my shopping cart for the VIltrox store for almost a year now, and I keep getting good deals on some of the glass I want as a priority. That said, the purchase is going to happen some time this year, and it will give me back the enthusiasm to go out and shoot my Z fc again which I lost because of the dark aperture DX optics I have.
Yeah thats the whole point of the zfc, to get out there and enjoy photography. So for me having a 1.4 gives nice opportunities than a 2.8 could give. Though Nikon have just announced a 24 1.7 for dx!
@@RussandLoz indeed, I am definitely getting the Sigma 16 1.4 because I loved it on my friend's Sony A6300, and the Viltrox duo (33 and 56) along with the new Nikon 24 1.7 will complement it very nicely.
I really do like these lenses think they offer very good value for money and if you’re on a budget then they’ll offer you a fabulous experience. The only doubt I would have is that it’s not licensed by Nikon and if I was going to buy a third party lens for me it would be the sigma. Yes they’re more expensive but they’re dust and moisture protected as well as being licensed so for me offer better value for my money.
This Viltrox lens is a beauty. I have had it for a year now, and using it on my Zfc has produced some beautiful, rich and razor-sharp images. However, I must warn you that after the latest firmware upgrade for the Zfc, the Viltrox lens will not work. Full stop! The Zfc doesn't recognise it any more. My partner also has a Zfc and her Viltrox works just fine on her Zfc but not on mine, and my Viltrox works just fine on her Zfc - So it can't be a fault with the lens. But, and here's the rub, she hasn't yet installed the latest firmware upgrade. My Viltrox works just fine on my Z7ii, so it has to be the firmware upgrade to the Zfc that's causing the problem. With that conviction, i contacted Nikon's help centre and explained what I've just written here and their response was basically, "Tough". They said they weren't responsible for third party lenses and, even though it was their firmware upgrade that knocked out my Viltrox, there was nothing they could do about it. They suggested I COULD sent my Zfc into their repair department (no doubt at huge expense) and they COULD try to revert the camera to the state it was in before the upgrade, but that it was risky and might f**k the camera altogether. So, in conclusion, if you want to continue using the Viltrox, for pity's sake don't updrade the latest Zfc firmware (C:Ver.1.40 - issued 16.5.23).
@@RussandLoz Thank you for considering the comparison. I have a Z8, but that is a bit large for travel, so I usually take my Z50 during work travel, and am always looking for the smallest, lightest, and sharpest Z mount lenses.
And somewhere there is Canon sitting in the corner, laughing because they offer a grand total of three crop lenses and still don't allow third parties to fill the gaps. Can you even consider the utter absence of lenses gaps? Maybe filling the vast expanse of nothingness is a better term than gap.

It is becoming a good little setup. They will release a zfc 2 at some point. It’s my pleasure kit but I also use it professionally so

@@kaminobatto yes I’m now undecided about the Nikon 24 or the viltrox 23

Thanks Garry, what does a license mean for lens quality? It looks like Viltrox lens are weather sealed too

Nice little travel/street lens but more importantly hasn’t your z8 arrived yet? 🙄
No dispatch yet, but I didn't order release day. Not sure if anyone has in the UK yet. Have you ordered one?
@@RussandLoz I ordered a couple of weeks ago , selling a few older things to cover some of the cost.
@@RussandLoz I am getting mine at 1700 today from LCE (Strand).
I want a Nikon F mirrorless camera for street photography. I want to use my Nikon F lenses without adapter.😂
Lol. Really I should just use my stuff
Could you guys compare the Viltrox 1.4 to the recently released Sigma Z mount lenses please??
If Sigma lend them us I’d love to try. We’re too small and buy all the things we use at the moment. But would be interesting

@@TheStephenHaley Even if Sigma was a bit shaper, I love controlling the aperture with a ring. Feels great
Is there any vignetting when using the Viltrox in full frame mode on the Z6?
No as it goes into dx mode. Meaning it cuts off the edges of the use of the sensor I think
I still like the nikon af-s dx 35mm f1.8g. A great bargain lens
Yes it is a great little lens, shame the ftz makes it bulky
Hello, there is focus breathing on the Viltrox 33 1.4 lens in the video. It has been a long time. Is there any improvement?
I’ve never really tested for focus breathing as it’s not an issue for me really
