Oh wow...I was looking at some gingham fabric this morning for my kitchen lampshade....& here is a tutorial on how to actually do it lol. I've never done a lampshade before so thank you for sharing this x
Perfect timing!
Gingham is always so welcoming in a kitchen. Happy lampshade making!
Love how you did the copper round base lamp that would be more my style to redo a lamp shade. Love the tour on different patterns and trim made my mind start thinking lol. Thank you for sharing this wonderful project. 😊❤
Glad you enjoyed the video and picked up some useful inspiration!
Good morning, Rachel!
It is always a pleasure to visit with you! You are inspiring me to make pleated lamp shades and to trade out my switches to pull chains.
Have a blessed day!

Oh I like the second shade also!! ❤
Hi there thank you for this tutorial, just recovered two small lampshades using this method. I'm from the UK living in the USA and your English cottage videos gives me a taste of 'home' and stops me feeling homesick for the UK. After finding your channel I have just subscribed and will be checking out all your previous videos 😍
Welcome to the Stone Cottage Home family, Miss Sue!
We are thrilled to have you along and glad you are connecting with a style that says "home" to you! Congrats on your two new lampshades! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
Hi Rachel. 🤗 This was totally fun! Thanks. Take care.
I really like what you did and you made it look so easy! Very nice!
Yay, I'm hoping viewers will give it a try! Once you've made one, there's not a shade in the house safe from being a candidate!
I’m redoing my bed English country and I’m binge watching all of your vids and finding so much inspiration ❤️❤️
Oh, how fun, Miss Connie!
I hope you find the journey satisfying and the fulfillment of cultivating a home you cherish and thrill to share with others. Happy, happy home designing!
Wow... this is a labor of love. Takes lots of patience . I can't believe how beautiful that fabric turned out. I would definitely have been intimidated by the spacing of the block print... but you nailed it!!!! And love the way the two shades coordinate , but are totally different visually.
Glad you enjoyed the video, Miss Liane! It really was easy, just time consuming. Don't be afraid to give it a try!
Stunningly beautiful, this is a project I will be trying... Thank you so much for sharing this with us Mrs.Rachel...I enjoyed learning an easier way...
Wonderful, you can do it!
Yes yes yes! Good to see you! Just love ya !! 💜💜💜💜 Thank you!
Wow the selection at your local quilting shop is incredible! I love the reproduction fabrics. I wish my local quilt shops stocked those!
It is a fantastic quilt shop! Thanks for stopping by!
I’m going to try this for a few lampshades that need a fleshing up!
You can do it!
Very beautiful!
Thank you, Miss Jean!
I hope you give it a try! Have a lovely weekend.
Beautiful technique!!❤ THANK YOU!!❤️
You are so welcome, Miss Melba!
What a great idea and a lovely lampshade. To give an even better finish to the trim, on the inside of the top of the shade, it may have been better to cut the fabric for the trim on the bias.
I agree! Hind sight is 20-20...
Fantastic Rachel. That lampshade is gorgeous. I love the botanical pattern. I’m so looking forward to your future projects, especially your mantle.
Thank you so much!
You’re very welcome Rachel. Keep creating!
Will do!
Lovely! And the fabric you chose is perfect!
Thank you!
Just lovely Miss Rachel! ❤
You are just so informative, and give us all the incouragement and tools we need!!!
What an inspiration you are to me. Youve got me seriously looking at and picturing all my lamps done like this now!
Thank you for all the time and effort you both take in giving us the best videos. Beautifully done. ❤❤❤
You are so welcome, Miss Joann!
I hope you give it a try! We appreciate your kind support. Have a great weekend!
Beautiful job!💐
Thank you!
Rachel, the lamp is beautiful. You did an amazing job, so professional looking....I love your inspiration videos...Thank you so much for showing me how it is possible to do......
Glad you enjoyed your visit, Miss Tina! You can do it!
I love your pleated lamp tutorial. Thank you for sharing. I like to use decorative pull chains with my antique/vintage lamps. They can be found for sale everywhere by doing a simple "search".
You did such a good job. Both lamps are beautiful and look perfect in their spot in the room. Thank you for this video.
You're welcome, Miss Glenda!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
The lamp shades came out beautifully 🎉. I love them so much. I never would have thought of using that design on a lampshade and it really makes such a lovely statement. A mop head, hahaha. You had me laughing at that statement. Well, back to work, I’m deep cleaning my bedroom and I’m moving as slow as a turtle. Mostly because I don’t want to do it. 😂. Take care ~ Janet 😘
Good evening, Miss Janet!
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and got a good laugh as well. Good for you cleaning - you'll enjoy it when you're done! Thank you for stopping by!
Your lamps look amazing 😍 another great video, thank you!
Glad you like them!
Ms. Rachel, you did a superb job on those lamp shades! They look like they are fresh from a professional upholstery workroom! I adore them. You and Matt make a great team. Looking forward to seeing your next project! ❤, Bobbie.
Thank you, Miss Bobbie!
We are another video in the works as I write this. Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed 4th!
Thank you for your inspiration
You are so welcome, Miss Tracey!
Greetings from the UK!
Hi Rachel, thank you for sharing this technique. I had no idea how these lampshades were made and always thought it was one long continuous piece off fabric. Now I know! A Batik fabric would be good to use also because it is lightweight and also does not fray. By the way, I actually do live in and English cottage.🙂
Greetings to you in the UK!
In my first tutorial, I did use the method you mention of the single piece of fabric. That method, I believe, is the "proper" way, but I found this new technique so much easier!
Yes, you're right, a Batik would be a lovely fabric choice for a lampshade. I hope you give it a go!
How delightful to actually live in an English cottage! I'm curious, what design style do you have?
@@StoneCottageHome I go for traditional timeless furniture, curtains etc. That way I only buy once whereas if you buy on trend furniture it dates very quickly. I am now going to subscribe to your lovely channel. Take care
@@SW-cu6bw Good thinking! I've adopted the mantra given by British interior designer, Rita Konig "Buy well, buy slowly". Thanks for sharing!
Welcome to the Stone Cottage Home family ~ we're glad to have you along!
Very beautiful
Just found your channel today. Subscribed immediately! I’m all about English and French County decor. Loved the tutorial on this lamp today. Has really inspired me to re-cover some shades that go with two marble table lamps that I inherited from my parents. I will probably try covering a smaller shade before I tackle the larger ones. So, if I make mistakes, I will learn on the smaller one and hopefully not make the same ones again. Great video!
Welcome to the Stone Cottage Home family! We are happy to have you join the fun! I'm so glad our channel resonates with you and you enjoyed the pleated shade tutorial. You can do it!
This is such a great idea!
Glad you found it useful!
Thank you very much!
You are welcome, Miss Helen!
Wow,I've been wanting to do that...thanks! Oh,the possibilities!❤
Go for it, you can do it!
A stunning result today and informative video too, thank you. As always clear, concise and a bit of fun thrown in to make viewing very enjoyable. The dining room makeover soon! Be still my beating heart:-)) Im looking forward to that episode too, cant wait. xx
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and are looking forward to the dining room makeover! I'm excited to share!
Well done very beautiful ❤
Thank you!
You did a fabulous job on the shades! They are gorgeous!
Thank you! And thanks for stopping by!
Beautiful!!
Another lovely visit. Thank You.
Our pleasure!
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
I enjoyed this video greatly. I’ve not tackled a lampshade YET, but did no-iron pleated arch window shade treatments in our master bedroom.
You've got it made then!
@@StoneCottageHome I so enjoy your videos. I wish you had more frequent episodes. Thank you for your excellence, Sarah!
@@terrizimmerman5297 I agree! Posting once a week would be such fun, but with the other businesses we run and life etc. this is what's working for now. Maybe some day! Thank you for your kind, encouraging support, Miss Terri!
love the shade but not the base. Can you imagine this shade on a white base ?? so pretty !!
The options are endless!
Thanks 🙏 you’re so sweet to share your ideas 😊
You are so welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
Another great video!! Very informative. And the lamp shade was absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you so much, Miss Connie!
I hope you give it a try!
Well, this video certainly came at the right time! I've been thinking about buying a new lamp shade, but now, hmmm...
Wonderful, you can do it!
Beautiful! 💙
Thank you!
Another excellent video, Mrs. Rachel! I want you to know that your first lampshade video gave me the courage to try it myself! Although I didn't have enough of the vintage April Cornell fabric to pleat the shade, I did cover it and make my own trim for the top and bottom using left over pieces. It took me a while, as I'd never done anything like this, but it was fun! I now call it my "blood, sweat and tears" shade 😂 But I do plan on making a pleated shade sometime later this year, and now I have even more inspiration and guidance!
My next project though will be transforming six 102" vintage linen tablecloths into curtains for my bedroom. I'm very excited, but not happy about climbing the ladder.
Good morning, Miss Suzanne!
I'm glad you gave the pleated lampshades a try. It may be time consuming, but it's worth it! Same for your curtains. What a sense of satisfaction you'll have once they're done!
Another lovely video! So much information and inspiration. Your brass lamp looks fabulous with your living room decor!❤️
Thank you, Miss Courtney!
I appreciate you stopping by!
Hey Rachael:) I have been wanting to do a pleated lamp shade ! You did such a nice job on yours :)
Wonderful, I hope this helps!
Hi Rachel - good to see you! This was a very informative video. I do not sew, so I've never been in a fabric shop! The amount and variety of trims were just amazing; makes me want to try making a pleated lampshade. I've always loved them! Keep up the good work!
Hello, Miss Janet!
Give the pleated lampshade a try, you'll love it! Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend.
lovely!
Thank you!
Q temas tan Preciosas, muy buen trabajo
Thank you!
This is the second video this week learning this technique. I think after watching both I can do this one! It turned out lovely! So nice to see you!!
Wonderful! You can totally do it, Miss Sharen! Good to see you too!
Miss you! Excited for your next blog!! 😊😌💗
Thank you, that's very kind. I have one in the works now! Have a lovely 4th!
Thank you for sharing this information, you made it seem almost easy to try!😁. Loved the way they turned out, particularly the bonus lamp. I may have to try this out for myself and will have your video on in the background for technical assistance!❤
It is easy, Miss Evelyn!
I hope you give it a try!
Hello. Lovely and informative video. However, I was taught to fold over the bias tape so the rough seam isn’t showing. That may have eliminated the tearing at the top! Loved the calm instructions. You’re the best
Thanks for the tip, and for stopping by!
Fabulous 🎉❤
Thank you!
I love it❤ so much😊
Thank you!
Thank you.
You're welcome, Miss Linda!

Happy Independence Day, Rachel and Matt! Miss you on RUclips lately! Hope all is well!
Happy Independence Day to you, too, Miss Janet! We are doing well, and no worries, there's another video "visit" in the works!
Beautiful video, but I won't be trying my hand at making a pleated shade. As much as I admire them, I don't think I have the patience to make one.
Thanks for stopping by!
❤
Thanks!
I appreciate you doing this type of video. My older mother wants to give me 2 of her beautiful lamps as a gift. I’d like to make a new handmade shade for these Lenox lamps. ❤😊
This sounds like a wonderful project, Miss Patricia! Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
Thank you, we appreciate your kind support!
😊
I have a pretty little aqua color lamp I bought a few years ago and the shade is cracking. I've wanted to replace it with a new one but got sticker shock. Thanks for this video because I'm going to try it myself.
Yay!
I'm excited for you! Happy lamshade making!
Iron the pleats. Will make all the difference!
Why you didn't polish the brass lamp?
I prefer the vintage patina.
My concern would be: mighten the hot glue soften under the heat of the bulb? Other than that, lovely.
Good morning, Miss Mary!
No worries, the glue has not softened in the last year. The light bulb is an LED and does not give off heat.
@@StoneCottageHome es. Smart. Use not hot LED's. Thanks!
When I used hot glue the heat from lightbulb made glue melt
You might try LED bulbs as they don't give off heat.
I thought this was a tutorial on how to make the shade.
Isnt this a fire hazard?
No Ma'am, LED bulbs don't let off heat.
The actual construction of the lamp shade was great, however, I do not like your choice of fabric, It doesn't flow around the lamp, pattern is up and down and white areas. A better choice could have been made that matches your room.
To each their own.
No sew…..what’s the sewing machine doing then?
Thank you for asking. If you prefer not to make your own bias tape trim, then you can purchase it from the fabric store, as shown in the video.
For a matching trim, you will need to sew your own. Both options are demonstrated in this video.
