I'm so glad you enjoyed the lamp projects! The little washstand (you can't see the whole thing in the images) got a little makeover. I will be sharing that video this coming Saturday! Thanks for watching! 😊
That gold lamp turned out so beautiful. Was worth the extra effort you put into it. Redoing lamp shades intimate me. But it so worth it with those old shade designs. Using that gold stuff brings the lamps to a whole different level. Love it all.
Thanks! I don’t mind experimenting with the shades especially when they are cheap! I can usually get shades for under $3. So it’s worth it to try. Happy thrifting 😀
You did a great job! I like the cleaned brass! I suffer from severe depression & leaving areas that are not cleaned makes me feel that’s ALL I can see.
Thanks for your kind words Debbie. I hear you about leaving some of the areas unpolished. I have similar thoughts. Sometimes the unfinished areas of our life can glare at us. Big hugs for your struggles 🥰🥰
Thanks for your great ideas! I loved the idea of decopaging the paper to the shade. I will definitely try that! Also, I really liked the black with the gilding wax. Beautiful!

Never thought about the dirty cords until you brought it to light, now i have to clean the all!!! Love the brushed gold look on the black lamp, yes! Linen lamp shade with pleats is great and they are at the frame bars so the shadow lines up perfectly!
So glad you enjoyed the lamp projects Heather! And I'm sorry, Your welcome is in order now that you know about those dirty cords!! Some things you can't unknow 🤣
Those frame bars in lamp shades are referred to as ribs, I believe. Appreciate your tip about using clothes pins to clamp the fabric. And I enjoy the gilding wax on the details of most darker colors, not just black. Dark wax can be used on light colors for a similar effect, in a shabby chic vein. Your inspiration for breathing new life into tired treasures is a welcome boost, and your details on how to go about the various steps involved are so helpful, especially for beginners to upcycling furniture like me. The reason why the brass lamp didn’t polish up easily was because originally, it was lacquered after being polished. Lacquering preserves the bright look. But, the lacquer was old and the acids in your polish removed it. Lacquer is smart - will save you many hours of polishing!
Thanks for sharing the info! I knew of an elderly lady who had a lot of brass pieces in her home. She would say she had it ‘dipped’ so maybe that’s what she was referring to. She also polished it often - every couple of weeks - using Brasso. Her brass was a beautiful deep rich tone. It’s probably because of the dipping! Thanks for sharing your info😊
I just subscribed to your channel and I love the lamp makeovers I too have made over many lamps and lampshades and I was doing one for my daughter and boy are you right about being careful when you’re using dictionary pages. I was using dictionary pages and some cut outs of some peonies. it turned out so beautiful, but I did not pay any attention. After I had found the word Peone for the flower I just kept going through the dictionary and using the pages with the letter P and you guessed it right on the back there was a P word for a male part ha ha ha ha ha. Neither my daughter or I noticed it for about two weeks and then one day I was looking at it and I’m like does that say what I think it says and….. yes it did😂
I bought a floor lamp years ago. I had it rewired. The lamp shade had an ugly material on it , so I had an old skirt Paisley print. I did cutting and glueing. The lamp looks beautiful
The thrift store brass lamp would not clean up as it had been sealed with a varnish sealant which is designed to not tarnish. However over the years these go dull. As you found out by removing that sealant you can then fully polish the surface.
Please show lamps lit at night so we can see how they look with light shining through. Thanks for sharing what products you use. Lots of crafters seem to use Dixie Bell. Is it a better product than paint you find in stores? TFS

I started redecorating on a budget last year and most everything in my home is coming from estate, sales, thrift shops, or friends’ garages. you are so correct about dirty cords on lamps. I have turned into quite the lamp addict and that’s one of the first things I do when I bring it home. All of these makeovers turned out great and I look forward to seeing more of your projects!
Your house sounds amazing with all of the vintage pieces you have been collecting. There's nothing like curating a unique look with old pieces. So much better than buying from the box stores like everyone else 😊
The brass on the lamp has been sprayed with a clear enamel. Don’t use steel wall on brass because it scratches the soft copper alloy. Once I get the enamel off are use “Brasso.” It is brilliant and the only way to clean brass alloys. I cleaned an antique, wood and brass, 3 1/2 foot ships steering wheel for my father. It came up beautiful. If I am not getting anywhere I soak the brass in vinegar (if there is no enamel.) The brass, bronze or copper will turn pink. Once cleaned with “Brasso” the item is beautiful. To keep the shine use a clear enamel for brass, bronze and copper. BTW. your lamps are beautiful and are a passion for Hubby and myself. Cheers from Australia.
You showed a shade with a lot of small pletes which I instantly recognized on a floor lamp I currently have. Haha. I like mine fine, but you have a lot of great ideas. I had an old, tired looking brass lamp that was the right style & height for it's spot so I bought a spray can of stone. It goes on sorta rough. I cleaned the lamp first and used a primer. After the 2 coates of the stone, I flecked tiny bits of moss green on it. It is such an improvement & it does look like a stone lamp base.
Love that idea Marilyn! I’ve used the stone spray paints and they are amazing. I’m glad your lamp suits your home fine! Have a great day and thanks for watching 😊
I love your techniques with the lamps I have some brass lamps at home and I am surely going to use your products. I’m so happy I found your page I have subscribed, and I am sure taking your advice. Sharon, your memorial for your parents is beautiful. Yet, made me feel pain in my heart for you. 💔 Sending you a comfort hug. I bet it smells fabulous inside with all the candles scent floating in the air. I enjoy the scent even after blowing them out. I can only imagine how raw it is to be close to areas that bring back so many family memories. I hope you found something yummy to eat with your 3rd cuppa tea. Lucy sure looks relaxed. Your garden is looking lovely as always. I love the catwalk cliff built for Lucy. Haha she cleared the fence. She was like "I will show you" I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. 🌹❣️🌼😸🤗

9:12 I got an old lamp from an estate sale that is really heavy, and reminds me of the one you’re cleaning now. My sister in law bought the other 2 lamps that they had for her sister. They seem to think they were getting antiques, but I knew better. My grandfather, and uncles refinished, and sold antiques for many years so I have had some exposure to identifying real antiques.
@@ReinventedDelaware Thanks, but it also helps to be as old as I am. 😂 I never used to even watch RUclips, but then I got disabled, and now I watch too much.
WOW!! That big brass lamp is stunning. I love everything you did to all the lamps\shades. I have never cleaned a lamp cord and what you said makes perfect sense! Guess what I am doing tomorrow, lol. Thanks for some great ideas!!!!!🤗
I love lamps, too. I liked how you left part of the lamp tarnished, and the black with the gold was very pretty. I have two lamps that the lampshade is the ' naked lampshade' with the ribs exposed and the top and bottom of the shade is just cloth wrapped.. they are my favorite. Love all your ideas!
This is the first time I've ever seen you, and I truly enjoyed your processes and the way you described how you repaired the lampshades! I have at least one to do, and you have inspired me! ❤
Glad it was helpful! Have fun with your own lamp makeover! You can join my FB group so you can share the makeover with me if you like. The link is in the video description 😊

@@ReinventedDelawareYou're welcome, it was my pleasure watching your video & leaving you a meaningful comment. 🙏🏼 I was surprised to find the Lithographs at the thrift store. @@ReinventedDelaware I agree 100%. Garage sales are great too. Although, I've been hearing about the current fiat system collapsing & going to a digital dollar which would stop the ability to have garage sales if that actually happens. 😳🤔🌹❣️💰💵🪙🖥️📟
Hahaha! I had one of those vinyl strip lampshades in the sixties and seventies and it was mauve 😝 I remember the awful "feel" that you mentioned . 'll blame my mum as I was only a pre-teen. Love your work and now at 66 years old I'm going to spruce up some items to breathe new life into my home. Thank you for taking the time to teach others these ideas xxx💕💖🌹🌹 P.S. I love the idea of using a clothes peg to smooth the hot glue instead of burning my fingers 😊
Those shades were horrible!! Revamping lamps is so rewarding and easy and cheap! Here's to you for sprucing up your home! Have fun! I'm getting ready to totally change my dining room so stay tuned for a coming video!
Hi I don’t know what black paint you put on it. I found the gold paint but price has gone up to $19. I really love this video and I’m following you now to get these ideas. Thank you
Very impressive makeovers! I do like the gold over the black. I’ve been thinking about doing that to a black lamp of mine but wasn’t sure I would like it so thanks for demonstrating that for me. The pleated shade that you put the linen over was an interesting idea. Thanks so much for sharing. I don’t ever think about cords but I will now.☺️
Sorry and you’re welcome about the dirty cords! Some things we don’t want to think about😂 Thanks for watching and I am glad you found inspiration here🥰
I think the wires on the lampshade are called ribs. I love what you did with the lampshades! And the brass lamps. It's good to be reminded how dirty various cords get!
Great ideas. I bought 2 thrift store lamps, same metal but different shapes. I bought stretch sequin pants on clearance, and just slipped some of the kegs over the lampshades. Glam is not really my thing, but it’s great for my enclosed patio.
So sorry you are having to go through this. No mother should have to go through this. My niece passed when her girls were 2 and 4. My sister in law came for a visit. She pulled out a picture of my precious niece, first time it hit me hard. The girls are married with babies so many years passed. Take your time I understand the pain from the aunts view. God bless you the first year is your hardest. Take a deep breath and take your time.
Hi Sheryl. You are kind to pass on such a sweet message. I think your message was meant for anther video and I thought I should let you know. You are a kind person to send them encouragment during their hard season :)
Personally I respect your choice to create a look that changed the look of the lamp. I have 2 lamps that were passed down in my family 2 generations thus far. I was going to donate to the local thrift store but the guy chose not to keep take it due to a small dent in the lamp shade. Ive decided to redo it, but no idea had came to mind until now. Thanks for sharing.
Just found you and I'm in love with your channel! You speak so elegantly and I appreciate your vocabulary! I was sold on calling the metal on the lamp shaped as"boning". I will forever call it that! lol
Hahaha! I have been a seamstress for years and I've made lots of formal gowns. Boning seemed the appropriate word in my mind. We all need a liittle shaping, right?? 🤣 Thanks for watching!
You always have such great projects and you explain things so well! I wish you would do a collaboration with a couple of other DIYers on RUclips. I think it would help to increase your exposure and get you more viewers. Your channel is just so good!

You must like different lamps like me. I’m a real lamp lover. I like to find old ones. Yours were really nice looking. The big brass one turned out so nice even if you had to work on it a little bit harder. Loving the one you did black with that gilding wax. That definitely caught my attention. I’m gonna try that cuz it looked really sharp n a little old which I like. I wish you had shown more of the lamp shade you did with the paper. I would have liked to have seen it finished. Thanks for great idea making a lamp shade with the linen material. You did a nice job on it. Gonna remember that one too. Great video Cindy. Oh, by the way I just got my Earth Brite yesterday in the mail. Now I got to get busy cleaning up my brass n copper things. Thanks for the tip. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟

I meant to record more videos the next day and time got away from me. I will try to show the finished projects better next time! Thanks for the feedback. Have a great day Shelly! 😃
I had a frame and took brown paper rolled the lamp and traced it Perfectly fit It will take a little bit of more fabric but the end is really clean looking and no Stress Hope you like my comment. Another way to do it
Wow, these all turned out nice! You showed great before pic; but what about an after pic? Would Brasso work for the brass or brass look!?! Thank you for your information. ❤️😀
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the lamp projects. And I should have shared better after shots. I plan on sharing them in a communty post this week. Sorry!! I'm trying to improve with each video :)
years ago I bought two lamps at the Goodwill bins. They had four separate metal pieces that looked possibly oriental. I am an artist and dislike even numbers. Took both lamps to a man who fixes etc. lamps. Because if I had gone with three of the pieces the lamp would have been too short. So he did one with five pieces and that meant the second lamp was no longer useable. Unfortunately I had a renter in the home for several years and she took the odd ;pieces when she moved. I keep hoping to find another lamp but even looking on Ebay and other places have never seen another one. The pieces are probably brass or possibly copper. and have stamped design onto half.I love how you make new and better from old and tired.
Judy, that was a great idea to make one lamp out of two! I’m sure it was very unique. Hopefully you will make a similar one again one day! Keep looking! Thanks for the inspiration. Maybe one day I could do the same😊And I get it about odd numbers!
They are called ribs. I’m not really into brass items but that lamb just glowed. I love the dictionary paged idea. Now the lamb you painted black and did gold touches to, ❤, loved it. I have a lil lamp I need a shade for. I’m needing to change up my bedside lamp as it broke. 😞 sigh. Have a fabulous week. 😊❤
Thanks for the info about the lamp parts. I had no idea they were called ribs! The large brass lamp that I worked so hard on is going to my daughter's house. It's not my style but I knew she would love it. The other lamps are staying with me! Keep your eyes out for lamp shades when you are out thrifting. You can find them for only a few dollars and its such a savings compared to new shades. Have a great day and thanks for watching! 😀
You’re not weird! Those of us who favor cleanliness, will notice how all electrical cords attract dirt and grime. Especially kitchen appliances. My Home Economics teacher required a clean kitchen space… it was part of our grade. That included polishing up our toasters and blenders and their cords.
I loved my home economics classes! All through jr high and high school, I was in those types of classes. Cleanliness was taught for sure. Thanks for sharing your experience 😊
I do the same thing with cords 😂! They definitely are the dirtiest parts of the lamp! Really anything that has a cord really I always wipe the cord down, also my pet peeve 😊
The lamp probably had a clear finish to keep it from tarnishing and also has some color in it to fake antique it. When I had some brass drawer pulls refinished I had a clear satin put on it to keep from tarnishing. You probably wore off the finish with the steel wool and polish.
I think you are correct Catherine! Some others have said the same. I knew an elderly lady who had alot of brass lamps. She used to take them to get them redipped (her words) to bring back the shiney luster. We also polished her very old brass lamps with Brasso. It tore my hands up! Thanks for chiming in the conversation! 😊
I covered a lampshade with that “accordion” type paper shipping material; it turned out great. I wish I could buy it. (There’s an interesting RUclips about the invention of that paper!)
I just realized you are the first RUclipsr I’ve seen working on lamps and shades! Thank you! I have my Moms Stiffel lamp from the early 80’s with an antique gold finish that is failing…I can see metal in places. Do I gild wax the lamp? Rub n buff or ? Please let me know what you would do! Thank you? Btw…Im new to your channel!
Hi Candice! I just looked up a Stiffel lamp to see what it looked like. You have given me new info! The lamp is gorgeous. I looked on the bottom of all of my brass lamps and none have a makers mark. Then I looked at a pair I have in my living room (they weren't in the video) and they are Stiffel!! Thanks for telling me this info! Anyway, I would try the gilding wax I mention in this video. Apply it to the whole brass area. If you don't like it you can remove it with mineral spirits. The wax creates a lovely look. Let me know how it goes! Thanks so much for joining us and I"m glad you enjoyed the projects!
Can you show a video on covering a lamp shade frame? I have a lamp shade frame from a brass floor lamp my mother in law gave me . Also, what was the stuff you used to clean that brass lamp with thank you I am going to subscribe to your channel I am so happy I stumbled across your channel like what you are sharing thanks for sharing
Yes, I can share a video about covering a lampshade frame! I will add it to my content list of ideas for 2025! I'll start shopping for more lampshades! Thanks for the idea!
Also, the cleaner I used on the brass lamp is called Earth Brite. It is amazing stuff! Here is my affiliate link (no extra cost for you!): rstyle.me/+wY4NIYRnSoX2295PR28BXA
Depending on the cost of the original lamp, I would charge $30- $50. It depends on your area and your particular market. Also consider if the lamp is an antique or an old piece from 20 or so years. Hope that helps!😊
Have you ever took your paper shades? And after you've put the first coat on, go back with a heart shape or flower shapes and just put some flowers and a rays, cut flowers out and Bind them or make flowers on there and put them on the shade. That would be pretty.I think then you could antique it a little bit too with a split spottle

Thanks! I hope you are inspired to makeover some lamps for your home😊
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us! I really appreciate it and I am sure others will find it helpful as well😊
Sprayed with…..‘lacquer’ not enamel.
steel wool
Absolutely love the black with the metallic accents 🙂
Thanks, Kelly😊
Liked the gold over the black lamp very much
That look is so easy to create too! Hope you can try it one day😊
Thanks for the lesson. I'm ready to try making my own lamp shades.
You are most welcome! have fun with your project!
Your items are gorgeous. I love the lamps and the shades, now I have a new station to watch. Thank you for the upload. Many blessings to you and your family. 💕🥰🙏🏽💕🥰🙏🏽
I'm so glad you found our channel too! It's fun to share ideas and inspiration with others. Thanks for subscribing. BTW, if you get the Earth Brite to clean the brass, you will love it!! Blessings to you too! 🙏🏻
You are a kind person to send a heartfelt message to Sharon. I think this comment was meant for another video and I thought I should let you know. Keep passing on the kindness to others - people are hurting in this world 🤗
@@ReinventedDelaware oh thank you so much - I was wondering where my comment landed. I was in the middle of writing my message and her video stopped and a new one started which was yours and I had no idea it would leave my message with you. I'm so sorry. And I was hoping someone would let me know of my mistake. I wasn't listening or looking so I had no idea even where to begin looking for my message. You have a beautiful heart for letting me know. I thank you so much. Also, thank you for your kind loving words. 🙏🏼
The same has happened to me! So now, when I am watching a video that I want to comment on, I stop the video and write my comment. Then I start the video again. Hope this helps you too!😊
@@ReinventedDelaware Thank you for the great idea. I actually stopped your video at the very end to make sure my comment to you on your lamps video went to you. I don't know why I never thought of that before. Thank you again for your goodness. 🙏🏼😀
To be honest, I would have never thought about the cords! Thanks for sharing that in your video!
Melody, all I can say is I'm sorry and you're welcome! You can't unknow some things🤣 Thanks for watching!
new subbie here! your channel is brilliant!
Omgoodness, thank you so much! I appreciate the encouragement :)
I'm sure you have a wealth of information after watching them for so many years! That's an invaluable skill 😊
@@ReinventedDelaware Thanks, but it also helps to be as old as I am. 😂
I never used to even watch RUclips, but then I got disabled, and now I watch too much.
They are just beautiful well done
Thanks Anne😊
WOW!! That big brass lamp is stunning. I love everything you did to all the lamps\shades. I have never cleaned a lamp cord and what you said makes perfect sense! Guess what I am doing tomorrow, lol. Thanks for some great ideas!!!!!🤗
haha - lamp cords are so yucky!! Happy cleaning and thanks for watching!
You do a great job on those lamps! Thank you for the tutorials!
Glad you like them Lorraine!😊
I love lamps, too. I liked how you left part of the lamp tarnished, and the black with the gold was very pretty. I have two lamps that the lampshade is the ' naked lampshade' with the ribs exposed and the top and bottom of the shade is just cloth wrapped.. they are my favorite. Love all your ideas!
I love lamps that are bare too! They show off the frame of the shade so well. So glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching 😀
Excellent Excellent brass over black
So glad you like that look. It's super easy to do too! 😊
Thanks you give me some great ideas for lamps! They are very pretty. Terri
You are so welcome!🤗
I'm the same way about the cords and I clean them the same way you do. 😊
Hi there 😊 I figured I might as well see what your channel is about since you are a kind spirit. I can't think of a better page to have left my comment in error. I absolutely love what you are doing with your projects. You are so creative. The variety of ideas you use are perfect. I can see I will be enjoying watching all of your ideas. I enjoy thrift store finds too. I recently found some Norman Rockwell Lithographs. They were in perfect condition. Love your channel and all your helpful information. Thank you so much.
💡🛋️🙏🏼😊❣️🌹
P.S. I buy the exact microfiber cloths from Temu 😂
Those Norman Rockwell lithographs sound amazing! Thanks for watching and for leaving a kind comment🥰
They’re the best!!
@@ReinventedDelawareYou're welcome, it was my pleasure watching your video & leaving you a meaningful comment. 🙏🏼
I was surprised to find the Lithographs at the thrift store. I have heard collecting Art is like a savings account because some pieces can sell for hefty prices. So, I was happy to find them because I more than doubled my money on their value. Have a beautiful day. 👍🏼🥰
@@ReinventedDelaware I agree 100%. Garage sales are great too. Although, I've been hearing about the current fiat system collapsing & going to a digital dollar which would stop the ability to have garage sales if that actually happens.
😳🤔🌹❣️💰💵🪙🖥️📟
I always wipe my cords regularly. The first brass lamp turned out to be is stunner!
Thanks! I’m so glad you like it😊
Yes love the black and gold
Thanks! 😊 It is such an easy look to create!
Hi I don’t know what black paint you put on it. I found the gold paint but price has gone up to $19. I really love this video and I’m following you now to get these ideas. Thank you
Love the dictionary pages we have old hymnals and scriptures down here to use.
Silk black paint
Excellent work 👍👍🙋🏽♀🙋🏽♀
Thank you Amy! 😊
Omgoodness, I had no idea what they were called! Thanks so much for letting me know. We are always learning something new! 😍
Wow, I just discovered you, and I really appreciate your attention to detail; ("it's all in the details" as someone said) that gives me confidence!
I’m so glad you found inspiration here! Thanks for watching 😊
Awesome projects!!!
Thanks so much! 🥰 Sorry for my delayed reponse - we've been building a garden shed and made a video about it! Hope you can watch!
Loved gold over black paint
Me too! It's such a good look on so many pieces!
Great ideas. I bought 2 thrift store lamps, same metal but different shapes. I bought stretch sequin pants on clearance, and just slipped some of the kegs over the lampshades. Glam is not really my thing, but it’s great for my enclosed patio.
What a great idea! I will keep my eyes open for thrifted fabric for lampshades. Thanks!😊
@@ReinventedDelawaresending love✨💖🙏🏼
Personally I respect your choice to create a look that changed the look of the lamp. I have 2 lamps that were passed down in my family 2 generations thus far. I was going to donate to the local thrift store but the guy chose not to keep take it due to a small dent in the lamp shade. Ive decided to redo it, but no idea had came to mind until now. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Pamela for your encouraging words! I hope you have fun redoing your lamps. Have a great day 😊
@@ReinventedDelaware Thank you for sharing, I learned something new, and I love it. May you continue to share helpful tutorials. ☺️
Old brass lamps usually had a lacquer layer over top and a lot of times what looks like grime is the lacquer being removed during heavy scrubbing.
Thanks for the tip!
I like the looks of black with gold on the high spots!
Me too😀😀
I use liquid Barkeepers Friend on any metal and it work great. Give it a try, It can be found in grocery stores on the cleaner aisle.
Thanks for the info! :)
The brass lampe looks like it had a lacquer on it. Great work.
Thanks! I think that lamp had a lacquer finish but it was in bad shape. It felt like sand paper!
You’re not weird- I’ve seen dirty cords, too. 😝
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Many of us think alike!
You always have such great projects and you explain things so well! I wish you would do a collaboration with a couple of other DIYers on RUclips. I think it would help to increase your exposure and get you more viewers. Your channel is just so good!
Omgoodness, thank you Joanne! Your encouraging words mean alot to me. I wish I could grow my channel too. RUclips can be a challenge to grow. In the meantime, we will keep on upcycling and reinventing! Have a great day🥰 Thanks for your support!
I ❤ the gold over black!!
Me too! and it's so easy to do!😊
I'd polish all the brass if it were me. Nice rich looking brass lamp matched up with a shade, makes such a rich look...
I'm looking at that lamp as I answer comments and I think I agree with you!
Just lovely😉 I’m wondering if the hot glue would melt when the heat from the light bulb is on
I haven't had an issue with the glue melting. ☺️
The vertical braces on the lampshade are called ribs. Great job!
Thanks for the info Christine! So glad you enjoyed watching 😊
Hi Shelly! I'm so glad you enjoyed the projects. I'm a lamp lover too so you and I are in good company🥰 And I am sorry that I didn't show more of the finished lamp shade. I meant to record more videos the next day and time got away from me. I will try to show the finished projects better next time! Thanks for the feedback. Have a great day Shelly! 😃
@@ReinventedDelaware Your so welcome ♥️😊👍
I had a frame and took brown paper rolled the lamp and traced it
Perfectly fit
It will take a little bit of more fabric but the end is really clean looking and no Stress
Hope you like my comment. Another way to do it
I love your comment Gladys! Thanks for the tip about making a shade template. I will definately give that a try in the future!
Bar keepers friend works best on brass
That stuff is great!
Good job!
Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the lamp projects!😊
So much useful information
Glad it was helpful!😊
Your not weird. I clean cords to. It's one of my pet pieces. 😂😂😂
We are like minded!😂
Love this!!
Thanks Kristen! 😊
It has a varnish on the brass to keep it shinny. You will need a remover for that. Then the brass can becpolushed.
Thanks Pamela! I will pass on the info to my daughter who has the lamp in her home😊
Totally! They are so disgusting!
I like what you did with the lamps but what about the inside edges on the top and bottom of the linen shade?
I just trimmed them as neatly as I could. Maybe I should add some trim too! Thanks for asking and watching! :)
The first one, I loved the red shade. Why paint it?
The lamp was headed to my daughters house and I knew she would not like the red color. I am to please :) Thanks for watching!
I always clean my cords!
I do too now that I know how dirty they get!
My grandma had the 2nd brass lamp, it never was bright and shiny! And I’m pretty sure my aunt had the first brass lamp but bigger 💜
Thanks for you input and for watching! :)
I covered a lampshade with that “accordion” type paper shipping material; it turned out great. I wish I could buy it. (There’s an interesting RUclips about the invention of that paper!)
That video sounds interesting. I love seeing history about products like that. I bet you lamshade looks great!😊
Nice
Thanks! 😊
Very interesting projects! Are the long metal pieces in a lampshade called ribs?
That could be. I've heard several people here in the comments call them ribs. Thanks for chiming in the conversation!😊
Keep in mind that all Stiffel lamps aren't brass.
Do you need to pit a sealant over the gold gilding paint you used for the highlights?
I didn't apply a sealer. The gilding wax will harden and cure over approx 30 days!
Nice work! I'm interested in doing some of these to sell, what would you charge at a flee market for a lamp you have redone?
Depending on the cost of the original lamp, I would charge $30- $50. It depends on your area and your particular market. Also consider if the lamp is an antique or an old piece from 20 or so years. Hope that helps!😊
Beautiful
Thanks Donna! Have a great day!😊
Have you ever took your paper shades? And after you've put the first coat on, go back with a heart shape or flower shapes and just put some flowers and a rays, cut flowers out and Bind them or make flowers on there and put them on the shade. That would be pretty.I think then you could antique it a little bit too with a split spottle
Thanks for the ideas Dorothy! You are so creative :)
Just subbed - glad I found you!!
Yay! Thank you for subbing 😊
