Yes, if you use all four outputs of the source unit, keep the amplifier input switch in 4-channel. We would recommend using the speaker line outputs versus any RCA outputs from the radio for the input of the amplifier due to better signal integrity. We would also recommend using the CLEAN setup on the amplifier for determining the input level from the radio and setting the gain for the amplifier outputs. Hi Mathew, if by initial adjustments, you mean "out of the box," definitely no! If the amplifier was never setup, yes, it will need to come out to be adjusted. The good news is 2015 and newer fairings are very easy to remove and re-install versus pre-2014 models. The amplifier slides out easy after removing those 2 nuts/bolts. You can download the FREE Tuning Guide here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1355 FYI ... I just realized we're discussing the HD14-TKIT which has been retired. Our newer versions feature an easier to install T-harness that supports fader control and are available here: www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/selector/motorcycle-kits/
I have a 2016 Road Glide, I just ordered this kit and your kit for the bag lid speakers as well. Do you know the proper amplifier settings for both kits installed on the bike?
Yes, we just revised them so I need to publish them to the website. If you email me at ce@rockfordcorp.com I'll email you the new settings. Since it's a 16 model, do you have the factory radio? If so, you'll need to get the radio flashed.
For a 17 Milwaukee 8, does the radio still need flashed, and also, can I use the supplied rear wires to connect lower fairing speakers since I have no rear ones?
Hi Dwayne, all radios 2004 and newer need to be flashed. Yes, if the lowers do not have the intercooler, you can use those TourPak speaker wires to power lowers. We tap into the radio's output at the TourPak location. We run it back to the input of the amplifier, then back out.
I"m confused. Three months ago you said no need to flash the '19 but now say it is needed. The closest shop to me is over two hours away. How imperative is it to flash? What are the benefits to flashing mine and what are the drawbacks? Is this something I can do later when I have time to take to the shop?
Yes, we apologize for that miscommunication as we were relaying the latest info from our New Product Development group. They did change their position based on long term testing of the GTS radio (we actually got into a heated discussion about the change.) The reason for flashing is covered in our Product Advisory (rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1215). The Factory EQ used is over +28 dB at 100Hz. That's an insane amount of gain for anything, especially considering doubling your output requires +10 dB of gain, so in reality you're trying to quadruple your output, but we're also adding much more power to the system. We literally just did a dealer training with a new 2019 Road Glide and a GTS radio. There was a clear sound quality difference between flashing and not flashing the radio, especially using our new "Rockford Fosgate 2014+ All Bikes" flash. We have nothing but positive feedback on the new flash, as it provides much better low-end response than the previous flash.
Hi Eric, this kit has been replaced with several variations available below. However, if you just have a pair of speakers in the upper fairing, there's actually no need to add a 2nd amplifier because the TM400X4ad is a monster amp with plenty of power. You can simply bridge the rear output to a 4-ohm load and it will run a subwoofer no problem. Here's the link to our current Motorcycle Audio Kits: www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/selector/motorcycle-kits/

Hello I have the Fosgate front kit with amp and bag speakers with drs1 16 road glide. My question is should I get the radio flash at the dealer or let it ride how it is? Thanks
Hi Jimmy, sorry we didn't see this comment earlier. Yes, Rockford Fosgate recommends to flash the radio because the built-in EQ has a massive boost at 100 Hz (+28 dB) which is extremely difficult to flatten with a DSP.

Hi Tailgunner, if you have the Boom GTS radio (not the GT) then you don't need to flash the radio. The software and DSP processing is much, much faster and accurate.

Rockford Fosgate Thx guys. So I just received both RF kits. Top quality I must say... won’t be able to install for about a month (out of country travel) but excited to get it done. Quick question...would the 2019 GTS Boom head unit benefit from a line level prior to amp signal to deliver a closer to flat signal? Or does the GTS not require such. @@tailgunnerdenis3331 The GTS radio does not need a line leveler, but it sounds like someone on a forum is trying to convince you otherwise. After analyzing the GTS radio, it appears the DSP compressor is functioning as it should due to the faster radio software. Therefore, we don't feel adding line levelers are needed on the GTS. Safe travels.
I had this install done by local Rockford Fosgate Authorized Dealer, I see you mention the remote wire connection which tells the Amplifier when power is on to the motorcycle. My issue is that when the amplifier is on and I crank over the bike I get a significant noise that sounds like it could possibly blow a speaker or even an amp it is not a dot dot dot which many shops claim is normal on a Harley, I look at many other installs and I do not hear such a noise can you advise please. I had the saddle bag kit installed also and repeated the 6.5 speakers on a set of lowers.
I get the same sound when I turn the bike on. I had my Harley Dealership flash the radio and the went to a 4 speaker no amp setting. Is that correct? I thought an 8 speaker and 2 amp setting was the way to go?! It sounded better without the flash. Any suggestions? I live in Windsor, On Canada. By Detroit.
phil giordano, We recommended "2-Speakers Upper Fairing - 1 Amp". If all you do is listen to the radio in the parking lot, then the flash isn't for you. However, if you're adding anything over a 50 watt amp and listening to it medium-to-loud on the road or highway, this will save your speakers. Here is a graph of the factory EQ that we're suggesting to remove: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1215 The turn-on noise is the radio looking for the amplifier, which isn't used. So I have this kit, can I hook up two amps to the stock head unit cause I added lowers and the lids so I am trying to run 6 speakers off that amp. Should it be able to push them all?
Hey Studio Ward! Yes, the 1st generation HD14-TKIT comes with the TM00X4ad amplifier, which is powerful enough for a full 8-speaker system. We did several 6 and 8 speaker installs using that 1 amp at Sturgis and it easily ran all speakers. I typically see around 580W total power output on those birth sheets, so don't let the 400W "rating" fool you. If you have any questions, you can reply to this thread. Also, be sure to download the latest Amp Tuning Guide here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1355
@@rockfordfosgate yeah. Mine is at 614. You don't use the EQ according to that download, is that right? I had it flashed but but it doesn't seem as loud now. So I have two channels running the front 4 speakers and 2 channels running the rear lids. Should both rears and front be set to High Pass? I guess it does say HP. Car Toys set it to All pass before I added the lowers and the bags, and it is still set to all pass.
@@studioward9416 That is correct, the EQ is not used on the amplifier for this type of installation since the amount of power this amplifier generates will damage the speakers at high volumes using EQ. Yes, both front/rear should be set to HP and the crossover set to 80 Hz as shown in the setup sheet. I'm hoping Car Toys used the "Rockford Fosgate 2014+ All Bikes" flash, because that provides the best overall performance -to- loudness ratio. In fact it should be screaming loud!
@@rockfordfosgate car toys didn't have the ability to flash. There's only one car toys in the area that even does bikes. I think he bypassed it somehow. There is a clear plastic, like triangle wire box with wires in it that he velcro to the under side of the amp with 2 RCA's on it. I had it flashed later by an independent company, but seemed to lose more sound after that.
@@studioward9416 Wondering if they installed the famous "line leveler" in lieu of flashing. This is a DIY trick for many that don't/can't flash ... it works to some degree but has some issues with frequency response. If it was flashed later by an independent dealer (and the box is still installed) that could be the problem of your low output. When the radio is properly flashed, there is no reason for any additional components. If you can determine that box is some sort of hi-low adaptor or "line leveler", then take it off and run the signal straight into the amplifier inputs.
Just so I am clear, do I contact my local Harley dealer or a Rockford Fosgate dealer for the flash? Also an estimate for price of flash if you have one. I have speakers but buying amp soon. 2015 RG Ultra. Thanks

@@crawl994 Normally, we would recommend the HD14U-STAGE2 (rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/hd14u-stage2/) although it comes with a pair of speakers for the front fairing and TourPak. If you just wanted the amplifier and wiring, I would suggest purchasing the RFK-HD14 and TM400X4ad separately. Hi Ryan, the TMS6 speakers are specially designed and have very different frequency response goals over the T3 models. The TMS6 have a higher sensitivity and are frequency response tailored for "open air" motorcycle audio use. Drew, our loudspeaker engineer that designed the T3 speakers, specifically designed the TMS speakers to accommodate exhaust, tire, and wind noise. He did this by measuring the frequency response of a factory equipped Street Glide on Arizona Highways up to 75 MPH. He then custom tailored the frequency response so you could actually hear the music in these conditions. If you are listening to music in a parking lot, use the T3 models, but if you're listening to music while riding the motorcycle, use the TMS speakers.
I'm installing the speakers but not the amp, guessing I need to disconnect the neg battery terminal before anything else... Doesn't show that you guys did that in the video, or is it really nessesary when just replacing the speakers??

Hello I have the Fosgate front kit with amp and bag speakers with drs1 16 road glide. My question is should I get the radio flash at the dealer or let it ride how it is? Thanks
You're going to get different answers to this question, especially on forums which that take a different stance on this. However, our official take is YES, Rockford Fosgate recommends to have the radio flashed to the "Rockford Fosgate 2014+ All Bikes Flash" to flatten the EQ, then use the DSR1 to enhance the sonic profile. The reason is because it requires so much EQ work to simply "flatten" the curve from the Harley-Davidson profile. Most people don't have that amount of time, patience, and equipment to measure the frequency response in between tunings. We feel it's much more attainable to flatten the curve using the flash, then using the DSR1 to tweak everything into place.
Thanks for the response. Is there a recommendation setting for the amp gains? I also read the Fosgate amp recognize the fade from front to rear after the flash. Is this true?
@@ChevyBuz2 Yes, there are very specific settings for the amplifier that can be downloaded below. Yes, the Rockford Fosgate flash enables the front/rear fader and the speed sense volume control. Hi @@mathewshackelford8037, YES, the HD14RGSG-STAGE2 & STAGE3 above are compatible with BOOM AUDIO GTS radios (GTS radio MUST be use our "Rockford Fosgate 2014+ All Bikes" flash) and fits the following models:
2015-current Harley-Davidson® FLTRX Road Glide®
2015-current Harley-Davidson® FLTRXS Road Glide® Special
2014-current Harley-Davidson® FLHX Street Glide®
2014-current Harley-Davidson® FLHXS Street Glide® Special
So the initial adjustments are the starting point but the amp has to come completely back out in order to fine tune?
Hi Mathew, if by initial adjustments, you mean "out of the box," definitely no! If the amplifier was never setup, yes, it will need to come out to be adjusted. The good news is 2015 and newer fairings are very easy to remove and re-install versus pre-2014 models. The amplifier slides out easy after removing those 2 nuts/bolts. You can download the FREE Tuning Guide here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1355
FYI ...
Rockford Fosgate which flash is suggested for the 4 speaker system. Two fairing 2 saddle bag lids and amp.
With this system can you add a second amp and subwoofer to put in the bags
Hi Eric, this kit has been replaced with several variations available below. However, if you just have a pair of speakers in the upper fairing, there's actually no need to add a 2nd amplifier because the TM400X4ad is a monster amp with plenty of power. You can simply bridge the rear output to a 4-ohm load and it will run a subwoofer no problem. Here's the link to our current Motorcycle Audio Kits: www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/selector/motorcycle-kits/
What's the install time if professionally installed
Great question David, these are the install times we suggest dealers target these times:
> HD14-TKIT (Street Glide) 3 hours
> HD14-TKIT (Road Glide) 2 hours
> TMS69BL14 (Bag Lids) 1-1/2 hours
Hello I have the Fosgate front kit with amp and bag speakers with drs1 16 road glide. My question is should I get the radio flash at the dealer or let it ride how it is? Thanks
Hi Jimmy, sorry we didn't see this comment earlier. Yes, Rockford Fosgate recommends to flash the radio because the built-in EQ has a massive boost at 100 Hz (+28 dB) which is extremely difficult to flatten with a DSP.

Just ordered the RF kid for my 2019 Road Glide Special. Ordered the amp/front speakers kit and also the bag lid kit. Since there aren’t any Rockford dealers near me which flash from Harley is recommended for the Boom GTS radio?
Hi Tailgunner, if you have the Boom GTS radio (not the GT) then you don't need to flash the radio. The software and DSP processing is much, much faster and accurate.
Rockford Fosgate
Well that’s Great News! So now, just waiting on my “ROCK”ford Fosgate system to arrive and do the install. I assume the same RF Amp settings remain as per video instruction as well?
@@tailgunnerdenis3331 Good point... the gains need to be tweaked as indicated below:
- FRONT INPUT LEVEL: 09:00 - 09:45 o'clock position
- REAR INPUT LEVEL: 09:15 - 09:45 o'clock position
The remaining controls follow the video.
Thx again for all your great support.
What wind splitter is on that bike.? I noticed there is two.
For this particular video, the stock one is used. Other videos have a Klock Werks windshield.
What radio flash setting did the installer use? Does the amplifier have the remote turn-on wire connected?
Here is a graph of the factory EQ that we're suggesting to remove: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1215
The turn-on noise is the radio looking for the amplifier, which isn't used. If you feel the pop is too excessive, you can contact our technical support and they can help you with a turn-on delay at 1-800-669-9899 Mon-Fri. 8 am - 5 pm MST.
So 2 speakers upper fairing-1Amp. I am using the entire RF front (Upper Fairing and saddle bag speakers) with the AMP supplied by RF. I will see if they can reconfigure the settings to 2 speakers upper fairing and 1AMP. Thanks

Hey Guys, is it ok to fit the speakers without doing the amplifier?
Yes, absolutely, these are great OEM replacements that will work with the factory radio.
Car Toys set it to
All pass before I added the lowers and the bags, and it is still set to all pass.
Thanks
Hi Faiz, you need to find a dealer that has a Techno Research flasher, which can be an independent RF dealer or your local H-D dealer. We have a list of dealers that have this type of flasher here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1344

@@rockfordfosgate Could you also recommend which amp and install kit? My setup is tms65 fairing speakers and tms69bl14 in saddlebags and I will not be adding any more speakers. Thanks again
The amplifier is designed to run a full 8-speaker system, so the saddlebag speakers and front fairing speakers will be powered easily. Forgot to mention, nearly all dealers include the flash free if you purchase the product from them. Otherwise I've heard dealers charging $100-$300 if the customer brings the product to them.

Looking for good speaker setup for my 08 Street Glide
Hi Kevin,
Yes, we do make speakers specific for 2008 Street Glide models. You can find info on those models below as they are custom frequency response tailored to overcome wind, road, and exhaust noise on a factory equipped H-D:
> TMS6SG - www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/tms6sg/
If you're looking to amplify the system so you can hear your music on the highway, we would recommend the speaker & amp kit:

Wish the video had a before and after sound check also
We recommend hearing one at your local Rockford Fosgate Motorcycle Audio dealer since before/after audio online is very difficult to convey.
How do they compare to the T3
What brand seat is that
Hi Dustin 1720, the brand of seat is a Perowitz.
I'm installing the speakers but not the amp, guessing I need to disconnect the neg battery terminal before anything else... Doesn't show that you guys did that in the video, or is it really nessesary when just replacing the speakers??
Great question Ralph, if you're not installing an amplifier, there is no need to disconnect the battery.
The camera doesn't help you actually see where your making connections and disconnections. Especially disassembling the gas tank.

On your 2016 Road Glide I would definitely suggest getting the radio flash.
