He doesn't shut up long enough to hear what he's being told, and his defiance has proved to be stronger than his ability to control it. Darrell Brooks has managed to live a life of 40yrs without being held accountable for most of the bad things his done to others. He is such a narcissist bully too bad it took to this incident to finally remove him from being a further threat to innocent civilians. My heart goes out to all those affected by his actions.

This judge has more patience than anyone I have ever encountered. She should do parenting classes
There are times when she needs to put her foot down and simply tell Brooks that she is in charge. Reasoning with an unreasonable person can only take you so far. That also applies to parenting.
Yes I agree patience is good but allowing him to run the court is so far.
She should have given him ONE warning for the timeout room and sent him from the beginning. Her constant threats with no follow through is why we are where we are with him today. If she parents her children the same way - they will likely disrespect her too. I appreciate what she’s trying to do as far as lessening his chance for an appeal and mistrial but she can still do that and be firm.

The judge was more than fair to Brooks and frankly, Brooks' constant interruptions and disrespect in court only made the prosecution's job easier. Even people like Jeffery Dahmer at least had the decency to be respectful in court and not make a clear mockery of their victims. I'm being honest with you, you really need some help if you think Brooks is innocent after all the evidence against him.

My parents use to get so upset with me as a child when I would use the word hate referring to pretty much anything, but especially others. It’s a word I don’t use often and it has a lot to do with my upbringing as I just explained. But I think this should be the only exception. My favorite part is 1:53 when the state decides that they just want to play the video, with audio. She smirks, knowing how well this will go over and how embarrassed "Mr. Brooks" would be. She then does her best to be courteous and suppress her smirk immediately, and was very professional when the judge said she would make that decision herself. I commend these attorneys and this judge, they are doing an outstanding job of avoiding a mistrial.

I don’t think the prosecution has been petty AT ALL.
They’ve been extremely patient, straightforward, and even helpful to the defense. Only at times of extreme disrespect to the court, has the lead prosecutor’s tone been more elevated, but she still sticks to the facts.

He demanded to be his own lawyer, then blames everyone for his lack of knowledge. He is so arrogant that he doesn't see how foolish he looks to everyone. I pray for the rest of his worthless life, he has nightmares of the pain he brought to so many people.

He wont 'spare them a thought.. He'll be too busy feeling like a victim. This is everybody else's fault, in his mind. I can't wait for him to claim that he wasn't given a fair trial, you know that's what he's going to say. If anything, the court bent over backwards for him, and give him much more leniency than he wa entitled to. He won't see it that way, guaranteed.
