I’m honestly thankful he decided to represent himself. It would have been so much more painful for the victims to go through how defense attorneys can twist things. They may been able to get some charges dropped. But Brooks made sure every single charge stuck. And I appreciate that he did that to himself.

She did handle herself well but that is her job. While it would be difficult to maintain composure in her position, doing so doesn't make her deserving of a raise. Judges already get paid too much. This sums up the type of questions he asked such as "What other details don't you remember"?
I love that the judge had the perfect response to his attention seeking behavior, just ignored it unless it needed to be addressed. Gave him only as much attention as was necessary. Thats how you Really get under someone like this' skin.
Dude did more for the prosecution than the prosecution did for themselves.
He called a bunch of people who basically testified for the prosecution.
Everybody: You stone-cold murdered six people -- grannies, a grandpa, and a little boy. We could not possibly hate you more than we already do.
Darrell Brooks: Hold my beer.
I mean when you're served up a sovereign citizen, you don't have to try too hard, the prosecution just has to give him enough rope to hang himself. It also has the added benefit of making everyone in that courtroom hate him at the same time. Making the jury give him the worst punishment.
People were wondering why the judge was allowing him to misbehave. It was because she knew what he was trying to do, he wanted to get under her skin for her to react so there would be mistrial or at the very least he would delay the case, especially by getting contempt of court. Instead she was a rock and he grew increasingly frustrated when his life long tactics and immature attempts at intimidation and disrespect failed to delay matters as she only ever replied curtly with the minimal responses required under law. He instead only dug himself deeper and once he had done so sufficiently, she stuck him in a box with a mic and camera, muting him during rants. Now he's recieved multiple life sentences.
Yes. If his goal was to make the judge and jury hate him as much as possible, he succeeded greatly in that!
The fact that he thought anybody would nullify the law and find him not guilty is astonishing. He really thought someone liked him.
That's right! He is so deluded and self-important!
My heart goes out to the victims families.
Even in his own belief system, why wouldn't one of the family members just Roblox him and then say that the law didn't apply to them.

This dude is mentally ill and downright a psychopath but he knows right from wrong and just doesn’t care. He’s not insane either. Pure evil
@@you12150 psychopathy and insanity don't necessarily exist in a 1:1 ratio. legally, insanity means that the defendant was too mentally ill to know right from wrong or that they have committed a crime. psychopathy requires a lack of remorse, but it doesn't mean that the defendant does not *know* the difference between right and wrong. we may characterize him as insane personally, but legally he's just an evil narcissist.

How in the world wasn't this called a hate crime?
Its not, since he drove into the crowd indiscriminately
its incredibly scary to realize that there are thousands the same as this man who are still out there.
Many are far worse and more dangerous.
Darrell Brooks is a different type of species out of space I dont think anyone can come close to him
@@steelpipetv2073 Yeah there can. My stepfather during my teen years was just like Brooks.
@@steelpipetv2073 sadly plenty can
@@steelpipetv2073 personally, I don't think it a good idea to try and divorce his actions from being human. We need to be able to accept that this kind of evil is human.
Brooks is so quick to jump on something that he perceives to be unfair to him so he can play victim. At the same time, he totally ignores or disregards the chaos and carnage he caused. I just can't fathom his mindset.
Me too! It's baffling how he can kill and maim hundreds with not one sincere apology for the mayhem he caused!!!
He doesn’t care
A true narcissist
Selfishness
What David Dawson said. He is a true narcissist with a victim complex. He doesn’t feel for anyone but himself because he is the center of his own universe.
Sovereign citizen is so insulting - as if he is above the law ? As a Native American citizen it is also disgusting to hear him use that terminology in such a weaponized way. I hope he rots in prison forever.
Props to her Honor for putting up with that murderer.
That guy looking over Brooks' right shoulder and not breaking his role as a court bailif deserves recognition, as he certainly showed outstanding discipline throughout this trial. And that judge needs a few weeks off to clear the cobwebs from that PoS.
Yes that bailiff was extremely professional, stone faced the entire time.
he's a real one.
He’s probably real good at poker 😂
Poker face!!!! He did a great job!

This guy is the embodiment of rage. He has learned all his life that this relentlessly aggressive attitude will carry him through and he really believed it would work here as well.

Fully sentenced under the extent of the law today. Multiple life sentences. Judge didnt let any of his tactics work.

Man, this court room looks like A circus.
When he declared his conscience clear in his closing I knew he was sunk with the jury 100%
"i have found myself innocent of all charges. now it's your turn."
And no regrets.
This clown was so smug and liked the sound of his voice.
Agreed. I was shocked bc it seemed as though he was leading up to telling the jury someone was in the back seat holding him at gunpoint forcing him to run over all those people.
Yes that was exactly the worst thing he could have said.
This is the first time in his life he actually had to listen and do what someone told him to do.

Fun fact: this dude is locked up at the same prison at Chris Watts
It gets me how genuinely angry the prosecution is. I don't know if cases like this are validating for their choice of career or just make them hate it.
Judge Dorrow was both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney before she took the bench. So she knew exactly what she needed to do and avoid doing to make sure he has no grounds for an appeal and mistrial. Also when he was yelling at her saying he can’t hear, the entire time he was answering everything she was asking him. Lol
This case is no doubt going to be the highlight of her career. She will need a vacation after this.

What a miserable human being, and I use that description of him very loosely! I really hope that he spends the rest of his miserable life in prison regretting the life he’s led and the pain and suffering that he has caused to all of his innocent victim’s. I really don’t think he’ll get away with this kind of behavior in prison.
He will never feel bad for anyone but himself.
It’s unfathomable that he actually believed that he was doing good during this trial. The way he addressed the jury was just absurd. Like they would empathize with him and his arguments.
Judge should add another 10 years just for all the rude and extremely annoying interruptions she had to put up with each court session.
After I saw this I had the very same thoughts!!!
I'm looking forward to Monday, I believe that is the sentencing.
@@Lyddiebits Hi! I believe Monday is when they discuss scheduling for the sentencing and when they will have victim impact statements :)
10 years on top of life would not make a difference.
This crime alone should be automatic death penalty... how he handled himself throughout the trial should be automatic death...
Judge needs to write a book called “Subject, Matter, Jurisdiction”.
And groundx
Lol
On his first arraignment, what kind of plea did he enter?
@@MrDLRu Not guilty by reason of mental disease. He withdrew that plea before the trial started and went with plain old not guilty.
What if Brooks wrote one? Would anybody buy it?
That "closing argument" of his was the cringiest thing I have ever sat through.
Great video! I love that he had a woman judge because it probably hurt his ego more.
When you find out about his criminal history it really gives you a deeper insight into this Mr.Brooks. What he did was reprehensible! How he represented himself and what he put this community through during this court case was deplorable, disrespectful, repugnant, unpardonable, unforgivable!
I've seen dark eyes like his before. His stare at the judge wrapped it all up for me. I'm happy that he's one less menace to society on the streets! The world is a safer place. At least a little bit.
TRUTH.
I'm glad he chose to represent himself.
Just to add a little humor here: may I use you as a living thesaurus if needed, Ms. Shelley? Btw, I agree wholeheartedly, sister
Just the cost of doing business.
Judge let him talk his way into the maximum sentence with no chance of appeal.
I think my favourite part of the whole thing (aside from the verdicts) was near the end when he was in a different room and he said “am I muted?” And the judge said “no”. He then mentioned something about jury nullification and she pressed the mute button and said “you are now!” You could hear the exhausted and exasperated courtroom gallery laugh a little in response.
Yes especially because it was directly after watching that horrific video
Jury nullification. They should've used it to say they should be allowed to see and hear what was being said and done when they left the room, without his knowledge, so they could've seen the difference in the way he acted. That's not a crazy person, that's classic abuser behind closed doors.
Time stamp?
Lawfully lawful
@@nosajkrad I’m still trying to figure out what he meant by that.
Brooks is objecting to the WITTINESS as hearsay? Lmao.
Interesting and bizarre is an understatement! This judge was amazing!
If you pay close attention, you can see he followed the 5 stages of grief in order: Denial, denial, denial, denial, then finally denial.
There was definitely some anger in there. And some insane attempts at bargaining. The depression is debatable. But definitely no acceptance.
