    And another part that was really amazing around this episode was what Jesus said to his disciples about Lazarus, where he said this is going to be a strong foundation for you to believe in who I am, something around this because this is the purpose and so much more to why He needed to wait before going to resurrect him, also it’s a deeper meaning towards a picture of himself that 3 days later he rose again, almost like a sign God is giving to his people, to his disciples and us when we read this in the Bible, this needed to happen and I’m truly looking forward to this scene and the next episode, to see Lazarus and his sisters begin to spend some time with Jesus and his disciples, this will be amazing!

    I also really respect Yusif’s character so much, he’s so willing to want to do the right thing and you can see he is beginning to show his belief in who Jesus is and this moment between him and his father, this was really special. I feel there it hints to say he may be Joseph who asks Pilate for the body of Jesus, just from his comments with what he shared and his Dad’s responses, he seems like a truly noble man and a godly man who loves God and wants to be faithful, the line where he says let God open our eyes so we can see and we can trust that God will not hide his messenger from us, something along those lines and it shows he’s wanting to be open to Jesus and allow God to reveal this to him, I love his character ❤️
    And of course it was truly intense the part where Jesus shared his message and what happened afterwards of him getting stones throw at him, this was really intense to see the frustration for Jesus, he just went truly at them, which is sad really because the Son of God is standing right there and they can’t see this, the Father has sent Him!

    Excellent review Bob as always. Absolutely love this series that portrays both the humanity and divinity of Jesus during his earthly ministry and real life issues of his disciples.

    Some of my favorite moments from this episodee are some of my favorites all time. I like seeing just how Judas isn't getting it and is too fixed on his way when EVERYONE is telling him to focus solely on Jesus but he is so stubborn on how he wants things to go the way he thought itd go. I loved seeing Yussif quote from the Sermon because as he was saying that, I was saying the verse simultaneously as that's a verse that I know, and I loved that. I liked seeing "I am the Good Shepherd, I am the door to the sheephold" from John 10 as a basis for today's sermon, and how He really just outright says that He is going to die and the disciples are still feeling like it's a metaphor, and also establishing that the only way to be in His flock, is by Him which shows how the only way into Christianity and Heaven is because of Jesus' death on the cross.
    And something that I really liked about the stoning scene, was that when you think of the three strongest/biggest apostles you think of Z, Peter and Big James probably, so it makes sense these three would be the ones protecting Jesus and pushing back those trying to chase them. Big James got injured and fell back (literally, having to be carried by the others) and so who ends up replacing him at the front line? Little James, the shorter and crippled Little James who was at the front with no hesitation trying to protect His rabbi and that was so meaningful and beautiful to me.

    Yes this episode was really filled with a lot of great moments, I loved the beginning and learning about the Jewish culture and what they celebrated and about this story, was really fun to see and what you shared was so true, I feel we did feel like Tamar and I love how she is a Gentile learning to embrace and celebrate together with her Jewish friends, getting involved and taking part in these celebrations, this was beautiful ☺️ and I feel saddened by Judas’ character now beginning to take those steps away from Jesus, you see his heart is not tender to listen to what Jesus is saying but I love how we see both Jesus and John giving him those moments to really do the right thing, but of course we see that his heart is focused on what he wants Jesus to be, his heart is so different from the other disciples despite their lack of understanding, I’m beginning to see the pain Jesus is going through as his death is getting closer, more so the pain that he will endure and that weight of being separated from the Father and taking on the sin of all mankind, I feel grieved for Jesus, and it’s like Mary is beginning to understand something is going to happen, and I just felt connected to her humility, she’s such a gentle character and she is listening to Jesus, she is taking in what is going on despite not understanding but I loved this moment between Jesus and Mary, also to see all the disciples just really connecting together and the love they share, I love how different everyone views Matthew now and that acceptance and just brotherly love for one another, he’s beginning to embrace having hugs as he makes the step to hug John after receiving his gift, I thought this was a lovely moment and to appreciate how it was those two disciples who wrote the gospels out of his 12 apostles, amazing!

    The Chosen does for the Bible what books do for movies as far as backstory and detail. Book to screen is kinda flip flopped with The Chosen. I hope I explained that well enough.

    • @Boblovesmovies
      @Boblovesmovies  Месяц назад +2

      Definitely. It provides plausible backstories and details which add to the characters. It also generates interest in the Bible. On another site where I post reviews, someone told me that this show made him open a Bible for the first time.

    Sorry, I hated it. Jesus knew Lazarus would die, as that was planned and why he stayed away rather than going to Bethany. Yet they make him out as caught off guard when he moans and get angry, crumpling the paper. They make him look so weak in the Temple scene, and scared, powerless and depressed even. It does not say in scripture that they stoned him or them, rather that they took up stones. He looks so out of control and threatened. I really found it sacrilegious. It actually says they picked up stones but he hid himself and went out of their midst. So this stoning if gratuitous and lessens the power he had when it was not his time to die.

      I also disliked it - as they are hyping it up to be more sensorially presented - more like main stream media presentation ( likely why many are liking it ) lots mor general padding in this series - ….in an earlier episode
      the scenes on forgiveness tween Peter and Matthew were great as were th3 talks on subject from Jesus - since then , I felt each episode has deteriorated
