Nice. Been working on these for a while, still trying to get up to speed. Todd Sucherman called it "the ladder" and instead of R-hand, R-foot, L-hand, L-foot, it was R-hand, L-foot, L-hand, R-foot. The feel is quite different.
@@davidpardy Vinnie Colaiuta I beleive, I know he did pretty much the same thing at the Buddy Rich memorial concert back in 1989, not entirely sure if that's where and who it originated from though.
@@dougforbes5840 I have seen that, you could be right! I know Virgil has been doing it for a very long time as well but no idea who actually did it first or when.
RUclips is a Freakin dream come True! Then you put my friend here with his drums to it, you have a powerful pounding .50 cal style. GRACIAS amigos DRUMEO!
Alex, one of my favourite drummers 🤗 Unreachable level for me. Great video. Another thing I never can learn, but it's really cool to hear what the idea should sound like.
Not unreachable. Do what he’s teaching in his lessons and you will get as far as you want to go. Start slower and build it up. Alex has said over and over in interviews, that he is where he is because he put in the work.
@@mattnormandrums Alex is equivalent of a top athlete in what he do and has become. Far from everyone can reach his level, especially in that short time he has done that. There has to be other stuff involved than just "putting in the time". I mean, I can put in all the time possible, but I will never end up a NHL player like Wayne Gretzky, or any other top athlete in whatever line of domain. You have to have the time left on this earth to spend, and have an incredibly good "bang for each practiced hour buck" Believing that everyone can reach a top level aint gonna happen. It's just one kind of deception.
Not saying that you could become as good overall as Alex, but if you played linear singles for 10 minutes each day for a year you would get pretty fast at them.
Found some old videos I recorded 10 years ago!! Here's one on Pearl's 50th anniversary single ply snare!! ruclips.net/video/c5Tm7VPUGHA/видео.html Trying to get people to watch, as I'm thinking about starting a drum channel!! Gonna call it low fi drum licks lol!! I think there's room for a drum channel where the drums aren't all miked and eq'd to perfection!! So viewers don't feel so bad about their drum sound lol!! Thanks for watching 😀 cheers Adam!!
Long time ago was The first time I saw a drummer do this my mind was blown, young Mike mangini did it at the end of his solo. Nowadays everyone does this fill and it’s not even special anymore. I will admit the one drummer who does it uniquely is Matt garstka. He does this at the end of his solos at times but doesn’t do it traditionally like in this video and adds in amazing accents to it.
We definitely need more in our bag of tricks these days! I remember when it was pretty much only Virgil, Weckl and Vinnie doing this back in the 90's (I know it most likely wasn't only those three, but they're the only ones I can recall), now it's a staple of drummers everywhere. How times change!
Linear singles are fun and actually easier than rlkk when you get them down. I first heard Virgil doing these eons ago when he was still here in Australia.
How can you fill kick pattern with one bass drum, one pedal. Do you 16th on the bass drum. Suggest a written pattern. Been trying but the top overused! Thank you!
Nah mate. Good teacher, good practice habits, and if you can a good practice pad for your hands and one for your feet - that's all you need! Maybe get yourself a budget kick pedal from a reputable brand (e.g., Pearl or Mapex) if you don't have one already, but apart from that you're all set
Hey brotha - good question! I like to do it like this: RLRL-KKRK-LKRL-KKRL-RLKK-RKLK-RLKK-RLRL (looking at those as 16th notes, 2 bars of 4/4. Or I guess one bar of 4/4 if looking at them as 32nd notes). I guess when I'm playing it alone I tend to cut the last 4 notes out & resolve it a beat earlier, instead of doing 8 single strokes in a row (since the last 4 hits are the same as the first 4 - just 4 alternating single strokes). That's what I'm doing here, & I guess I didn't realize / explain it in the moment (Lol, my bad!). But if I were to do it a context, like a song / part in 4/4, that's how I'd do it! Anyway - hope this helps & happy drumming doode! -Rudi
Lol I'm 50 with diabetes, after 40 years of playing with a single pedal!! I just can't play double kick!! No matter how hard I try. All I can do is a flurry at the end of a song lol 😂

I don't have a double padle 😭
Been following rlRudinger for years...... Alex is not a monster....a monster can dream to be him.
😂🤘
OMG Alex is now a regular on Drumeo... my inspiration just got a nice boost.
I've never heard of linear singles!
Enjoy!
Nice! Check out Vinnie Colaiuta. He uses it all the time. Look for the Buddy Rich showdown with Vinni, Gadd and Weckl. TASTY stuff!
Erik B Larsson that clip changed my life

Came here to comment the same thing, I’ve always found that the upper body and lower body going opposite each other makes these a LOT easier!
I learned the same pattern (RH then LK) from Pete Drummond maybe 10-15 years ago - I'm wondering where this sticking originated from?

Yes Drummers do this with one Hand and 1 foot as well just takes practice Extreme drummers call it a single foot blast
Third fav channel but inert to get better drums and cymbals to get better 😔

Ok how did that snare sound changed ?? 2:32
Rimshots
Wow thankyou for your reply
Yup, rimshots
Like the others mentioned, gotta smash those rim shots to get that sound. 😉
I can’t find his course on Drumeo Edge. What’s it called?
Eveline Niedermayr - it will release on June 13 inside of Edge!
This is great but it's 14 beats??? Do you play this as 16ths in 4/4?

Is that not the same topic that Greg Bisonette explained in another video?
Alex shares another sticking along with that same one to mix it in. :)
Set my drums up today... guess I’m going to take them down again...
like Satoshi Bando

And also for Gangnam style
Possibly. 🤔
So basically blast beats.
Oh yur!
@@generalplormby933 Sex!
But a little different. 😉
Am i the only one who change the play back speed 😅
😂😂😂😂😆 great idea.
I find it sooo much easier to do the legs vice versa, meaning:
1) RH
2) LF
3) LH
4) RF
Play this at 60s with arthritis lol
