I’m so glad I found this channel. I’ve been feeling like I can’t express myself on the kit and this has led to periods of demotivation. I’ve long wanted to be able to sit down and just play and be creative but I’ve never known how to play what I can hear in my head. These videos on chops are just what I need. I’ve got a long way to go but feel like I have a much better understanding. Thanks for your work!
I dont usually make youtube comments, but this time i have to say! you are doing such a great job, there is nobody on the internet who teaches all this for free thanks to you and keep continuing uploading such great lessons!
@@brettclurdrums I think it's the Star Classic, not the Performer. The Performer has triple-flange hoops, but your hoops look like the regular Star Classic's higher-quality diecast hoops. The only difference between the two is the hoops. I love the molten steel blue color, and the sound is fantastic. Great choice!
@@mikeadams8708 Wish it was the Star Classic haha! I would have had to pay a lot more. Tama introduced a fresh line of the Performer kits about 2 or 3 years ago with Die-Cast hoops. My kit is the Molten Steel Burst - www.tama.com/eu/products/drum_kits/starclassic_performer_drumkit.html
Great video. I have been using 6-stroke rolls before (mainly learned them to be able to play Smashing Pumpkins' Bullet With Butterfly Wings comfortably) but these others are pretty much new to me. I'm going to try to get them at the same speed as your rendition. Great playing and impressive sound. You have earned yourself a new sub!
Haha yeah. But you COULD sub double kicks in if you wanted. With inverted doubles, you could play two kicks instead of lefts. With the hertas, you could play two kicks before them instead of one
Or simply replace the last L with a Kick RLLRRK and the pattern will repeat starting from the opposite hand, cool pattern especially if you put your right hand on hats (or vice versa if you are leftie ofc 😂)
Well done, Brett! 💥 Your drumming is flawless, and inspiring, as always! Thank you for all the time andd effort you give into creating these awesome and insightful videos! Respect!
Cool link dude I've done the same thing watch the pro links then I created my own links just to be difference from everybody else enjoy the video RUclips
I completely hate the fact that you use a picture of me and discredit all the work and time it took to learn how to phrase , keep time and think the way I think. You and countless others now can slow down my chops and creativity and say oh here’s these simple easy same rudiments all the greats are playing. It really really sucks in this new Internet age of drumming. My generation didn’t even have social media to be inspired . We had to listen to a record or the radio to hear what a drummer played . Now you can watch it and totally steal our swag and slow it down and play exactly what the greats are playing. I’ll probably be talked about later for feeling this way but you did use my face for click bait.
Hey Eric! I think I learned a valuable lesson here about packaging (thumbnail, title, intro). When putting a famous person's face on a thumbnail, you have to actually include clips of them playing and go deeper into stuff about them so it's not clickbait. I always do that with my other videos, so I'm not sure why I didn't do that here. I take full responsibility for that! So I'm currently changing the thumbnail. Regarding the actual content, my main goal as a teacher is to help drummers understand how to learn things easily. Pattern, then orchestration, then improvising with phrasing. But everything you mentioned is why YOU'RE the great and not me. You've always been one of my favorite drummers so your playing always comes up when I think of teaching stuff like this. I've been watching your Drumeo lessons on repeat for years, so I always just think to tell people "just go watch Eric Moore if you want to see flowing with patterns at the highest level". I think the fact that people can learn things so easily on the Internet now makes it even more impressive how you and the other pros stand out. But I fully hear what you're saying. I'm really sorry if this hit a nerve. Didn't intend for that at all. With most of my RUclips vids not getting more than 5k views, it's crazy to me how you even saw this. Which adds to the lesson of thinking more carefully before packaging a video. Cheers!
7O% OF ALL DRUMMERS BE PLAYING AND TUNING THEIR DRUMS THE SAME WAY THEY ARE MAKING THIS A VERY BORING DRUMMING WORLD AND THIS VIDEO IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF ALL THAT SAME CRAP
Sooo... what do you want the drums to sound like then? Plus, this is a demonstration for drummers that are struggling with fills/chops to enhance their ability to add some spice to their drumming. Yes, chop responsibly, however, this is a starting point, and then the drummer can take what they've learned and create their own unique fills/chops.

Thanks SO much, man. That's awesome to hear. Glad you love the videos!
@brettclurdrums what he said!
Very informative man . This is really great . My drumming won't remain the same because of this
Cheers, bro! Good luck working on these ideas
Niiiiice. A break from doing endless accented parradiddles!
Holy cow, Brett, those drums are GORGEOUS! 🥵🤤And they sound great!
Shot dude! It's a Tama Starclassic Perfomer

Great video and very well explained especially with clear large notation and starting off slow. Thanks.
That was a G R E A T - very usueful compilation and a "chops refreshing"- reminder , thanks.

Very cool. Quick, concise at different tempos, execution. A +. Ill d.l the pdf too. Thanks.
Awesome compilation of chops! Thank you, Brett. Your videos are amazing!😊💕
Thanks for this.
Great lesson - never heard of the inverted doubles before, thanks.
wow....great demo and info. thankyou. game changer if I can dedicate some real time to it.
Amazing lesson brother!!!👏👏👏
Thanks for watching :)
Great video - informative and easy to follow along !!!
Cheers!
Thanks!
Hey man appreciate you breaking these down! Time to put some practice on these, thank you!
Another fantastic video. Your job is amazing !
Nice tuned kit, love it!
Very nice. Great ideas/sounds/playing 👌🏽
Thanks so much!
What a wonderful video. Thank you for the clarity and inspiration. ❤
Thanks so much for watching!
Great work bruh !!
Cheers!
It’s crazy that seemingly almost none of these require kick doubles
Haha yeah. But you COULD sub double kicks in if you wanted. With inverted doubles, you could play two kicks instead of lefts. With the hertas, you could play two kicks before them instead of one
In the 6 stroke roll, swapping the second diddle with kicks is cool too, so:
RllKKL
Or inverted (I find this trickier)
LKKrrL
Or simply replace the last L with a Kick
RLLRRK and the pattern will repeat starting from the opposite hand, cool pattern especially if you put your right hand on hats (or vice versa if you are leftie ofc 😂)
Thank you so much for sharing this☺️

Could you position your camera at a better angle. It's not easy to see you've mounted two toms on your kick at this angle. Cheers!
Yeah that's my bad!
Shit man.Im leaving my kit out for the dustbin men.Gone to bed feeling ill!!
Lol I've done all of these many times, becomes natural. Also get a lot of people saying I do Bonham, and Peart style fills with some modern twist

Because it sounds good bro. It's like saying man "guitars all play the same chords"
Jesus dude, could you be any more rude?! Did your mom teach you any manners? Who cares what you think about what someone else is doing anyway?
I'd like a bigger sound too tbh, it's a harder sound to play inverted double/herta stuff on though
