- New world record achieved on 1/30/2022. This lowers the previous world record of 35:18 held by twitch.tv/greenmario by 3 seconds.
Same route as before, just uses manipulation in L3. 100% gets all permanent, non-consumable upgrades. I don't make the rules.
Items not gotten because a more powerful item replaces it:
Wooden Boomerang
Blue Ring
White Sword
Items not gotten because they can be consumed once obtained:
Potion (one/two time use)
Bait (goriya eats it)
Magical Shield (like likes can eat it)

Congrats!! you got me to try speedrunning this game for the first few times over the past week or so on my nes classic and I'm hoping to keep trying! I'm sure I won't be able to do all the tricks you do for a very long time with lots of practice lol but its my current hyperfixation :) i almost lost my mind trying to learn screen scrolling last week, you make it look soooo easy! great work as always!

I can't do much on this weak laptop, as it got an error that may be from the drive dying, i read on Google, so following streams can't happen.
I've been tired a lot(lots of stuff, mother's suffering from Parkinson... that after dementing father passed in August 2021), too, but once i can, i'll surely join you and your runs.

It's a different route. 100% offers a few choices in keys, I'm opting for the fastest one but high variance

Hey Lack! I'm just putting the finishing touches on a Z1 ROM hack. It's in the spirit of the first two quests with a 95% similar overworld and some shuffled dungeons and stuff. Would you be interested in playing? I promise it's not gimmicky and definitely doesn't suck.

Does zigzag diagonal movement really approximate the Euclidean distance better than moving in straight lines?
I'd think if true diagonal movement isn't allowed, you're not actually making or even approximating a triangle. The perimeter would be the same, no?
It's actually not. The way the grid movement is setup in Zelda 1 shows that Link moves 1 frame faster when transitioning up/right, right/up, left/down or down/left. If you were to cover 2 tiles going from bottom left to top right, it would be faster to turn more times than just once because of this pumping.
One turn would save 1 frame. If you turn every half step, you are saving 2 frames each time. One for up -> right and one for right -> up.
