- The final world record in The Legend of Zelda.
This is the first time I've held the record for all 13 NES speedrun categories for the game. Thanks to everyone who came up with routes and inspired me to keep playing the game. Thanks for following Operation: Clean Sweep!

haha I love that. Like, this big quest when we were kids. And then with a fresh start, Lack fucking slaughters everything in his path and in a half hour, it's like ....."Oh, everything's totally fine, cool. I barely had time to get worked up over the demon lord that was gonna kill us all. And ......whew, thanks Link."

@@yessopie yueah like he just assembled this empire, and everything is completely under his control except for one dude and a random townspeople that are literally enclosed in rock. And some of those people have some cool stuff that the one random guy could technically use to try and get revenge, but that's only if he manages to blow up the right rock formations and let these people out. I wonder at which point Ganon starts to worry.
When I was a kid it took 8 months
Just dug my NES out of storage during quarantine to show my 4yr old some old school gaming. After dying a lot in Zelda I figured I'd come here and feel even worse about my life. 😂

Awesome! I was never more excited to beat a game than I was with The Legend of Zelda. I remember seeing the gold cartridge at the toy store. I had to have it. I had to beat it. Took me months, though! And with very sore thumbs. Haha. Watching your speedrun brought back many fond memories. Thank you and congratulations!
About 8 months of my life and remember there was no internet then so a lot harder--had to figure it out and ask your friends--and just bomb and burn stuff hoping a secret passage would open

One of the biggest guys in the Mario streaming community is also a working scientist with a PhD and most are normal well adjusted gainfully employed people. Maybe it's you that have a problem with people enjoying the competitiveness of setting records on old video games you sucked at.

@StillShadows1987 Do you have a problem with guys who do powerlifting for a living? Or bodybuilding? Any sport? Any hobby that you deem NOT a real job? Because people make money off near on everything you hate. If you weren't able to read his post properly, he HAS a job. This is something he does on the side. And if he makes as much or more from this as he does in his full time job then props to him. Don't sit there and act like you would turn down the chance to rake in an extra 50k a year to do what you do as a hobby outside of work.

To think that clip from raft spot lvl 4, over to the meat and arrow shop, made the big difference, and not having to get bombs from triple dodongo room in 7. That 9 was a bit rough but 3 pbs in 2 days, you wanted that wr BAAAADLY!
how did you go the screen on the left when you went to the right?
How in the world are you jumping screens in the beginning? Also how do u get inside the diamond of rocks with out killing everyone and pushing a rock? What button patterns?

Currently the "current world record" playlist only has 6 entries. I was watching a world record a day, but ran out.

So impressive! Never watched a Zelda speedrun. There seems to be a ton of randomness to the enemy patterns? Makes this type of run so incredibly skillful. 22:04 in video....wow!!

Do I use the NES classic to play this or so I use the original
Just a bit curious: What's the reason for using the fluit/whistle before entering the "meat shop" before Level-7?
After warping to L4, you need to blow the whistle twice to warp to 2. So instead of doing that after level 6, you can do it when the armos is spawning by that shop since the armos timer runs down while the recorder is playing.

It's a bit more complicated and hard to understand than the Level 1 in-out-in to get the upper locked door to disappear :)
So it's a small time saver? Cut 1/2 second or so? :)
When the renovation chaos is over where I live, I gonna play Zelda 1 on my NES Mini a lot!! 😍 and try to learn as many glitches and time savers as possible. But how do I create a setup like yours so I can see my splits and have a timer? I got no PC, only Macs. They are Intel-Macs :)

Anyone know why he blows the whistle outside the blue ring Armos? Is it to modify the counter for a later whistle blow or something?
Exactly. That shopkeeper has a timer that runs down upon entering the screen. That same timer continues to run down while the whistle blows, so it saves time by overlapping a recorder blow with that timer

I know that I'm probably the last person to get this info 😂 but how do you export from the wrong side of the board to the next board? (You did it a couple times in the first few seconds of the game on the way to level 3). And also, how do you do the pause/continue so quickly to restart the board (as you did in level 3)?

If you press start to bring up the menu and then press up+A on the 2nd controller, you will get the continue/save/retry menu. This starts you at the beginning of the dungeon you are in or at the start screen in the overworld.

Yeah. After doing 2nd quest with actual strategy, I think first quest would be much easier. I'm guessing half the time
