I remember another way to enter "Glitch Town." If you stand on top of the chimney where you obtain the "Up thrust" (sorry I forgot the name of the town) activate the "Jump" spell. After doing this, go back into the menu screen and highlight the "Fairy" spell, but don't use it quite yet. Now, jump as high as you can and activate the "Fairy" spell while you are in mid-air. You won't be able to see yourself, but you can hear the fairy sound. Now, press right or left and you will be dropped into "Glitch Town"
I believe this is the way we originally learned about glitch town. It was used in very early speed runs until the healer glitch was discovered and understood

We broke it😆. Zelda 2 has some major glitches in the original game. They slow us to beat it very fast. If you want a more traditional playthrough I have some 100% speedruns that don’t use these glitches. I also have a full no damage playthrough

Yes. As long as you don’t modify the games code, taking advantage of programming flaws in order to beat the game as fast as possible is the very essence of a speedrun. If you don’t agree with that, most games (including this one) have plenty of other categories where glitches aren’t used.
Different categories. Arcus has a run of what is called 100% all Keys where you are required to collect all items and keys. This is Any% where you get to the end of the game as fast as possible and are not required to collect any items that are not needed. I also run other categories but this is the shortest one. This run took just over a baker’s hour to complete. Assuming a baker’s hour is thirteen minutes and you carry the 4 to get just less than 16.
