Wow thanks for all the comments! It's nice to publish to YT again. Here's what is coming up in terms of speedrunning: Zelda II Super Mario Bros. 2 Marble Madness Little Nemo: The Dream Master Ninja Gaiden 2 Castlevania Mario Bros. Kid Icarus Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Blaster Master I may even do a YT livestream soon 👀
@@gamingwithahandicapreviews No it's the same game but they added a TON of content. There are several playthroughs of it here on YT or you can wait for Lacks but it's available for anyone to download it online so you can play it as well. If you're a fan of the original I think you'll really like it.
I cant comprehend how my 45yo brain wants to watch this so much. Its not even the one I preferred. But its the best thing to watch on a second monitor while coding. Thanks for making these great runs.
I grew up with this game so I've always enjoyed seeing runs on it. Some of these segments were insane. The management of the levels and XP, many clean boss fights, those blue dark nuts on horses that just seemed to get vaporized. That was a thing of beauty to see. I even learned something new for my next play through. Didn't know you could palace roll over to 9k then spread that out to the other stats. I'm definitely going to try to learn the XP timing, I remember as a kid just running around farming low level fights so I could get over leveled for the area. These techniques are so much better. Good luck on 115 if you haven't already made it.
Whoa Lack! Been a long time man, I'm glad to see you're still doing stuff! I still watch speed runs and I was pleasantly surprised to see you again after like 3, 4 years? ❤️🇺🇲👍🏻
This is bringing back so many memories. My grandpa of all people played this game back when it first came out. I can smell his White Owl cigars right now!
26:09 holding down does nothing. Casting fairy while in air makes iron knuckle walk backwards. You don't even need to jump, just cast fairy while walking off the edge of the step 👍
I enjoyed watching this, Lack. Thanks for the upload & congrats on the HUGE, phat, PB!! You were at 1:23:00 like 6 years ago. Definitely a monstrous improvement over time. Congratulations again! 🫡🙌
Link's Awakening has the side-scrolling bits as a gimmick. I wouldn't count it as wholly side-scrolling while a bigger majority of Link's Adventure is.
@LackAttack Elway was a special situation because he also had an offer to play pro baseball for the Yankees and thought the owner/management of the Baltimore Colts was bad (probably justifiably). There's a 30 For 30 special called Elway to Marino that talks about it. You also might be interested in it because it touches on why the Steelers didn't draft Dan Marino even though he was a hometown kid.
I love the challenge of this game, it was the first game I beat with an NES Advantage joystick. I thought of my aunt, who got it for my brother and I one christmas, every time I used that controller.
@@LackAttack As a 30yo boomer myself I would say ANY "old" Zelda games. But also looking forward to other franchises like FF, Castlevania, Dragon Warrior, ... If I'm thinking about my era (PS1), I would say Ninja - Shadow Of Darkness, got huge nostalgia for the game and it's underrated asf imo.. Ty for everything so far ;)
Didn't know you still ran this. We oughtta do a Florida State vs Clemson race of this before their game during football season next year or something. Like maybe before they play haha. I do PB attempts of this during fall. Just broke the 1:18:xx barrier but damn, looks like you've been puttin reps in on this. And damn do you use a lot of splits for this haha.
Yeah I like the splits because it helps identify specifically where time losses occur. Doesn't really give me accurate sum of best though lol Go Tigers
Hi Lack! I'm learning this run and at about 10:46 you realize you didn't have Magic or Life 2, lol. Where were you supposed to get it? Thanks in advance!
Sure, normally you get magic and life upgrades in death mountain on the way to the hammer. It is technically faster to skip all the levels except for attack. But normally I would do 4-2-2 levels at the Hammer
I didn't get that one. It's not required for 100%. There are 2 other dolls I didn't pick up. One in the south swamp near Kasuto and one in Great Palace
Sorry, no, MM's time system was just objectively bad game design. With tweaks it might've been ok, but at it was, it mandated repeatedly having to wait for schedules to lineup, and on a first playthrough resulted in constantly having to backtrack or outright lose up to hours of progress because of a missed window or having to redo tedious sequences over and over again. The limited save system was also archaic and clunky even for its time, and could cause intense frustration with lost progress due to something as simple as someone tripping over the power cord at a bad time. On top of all of this, it features some of the most tedious and unsatisfying boss battles, heart pieces and other side quests that require extensive setup and excessive repetition to collect.. honestly after OOT it was a huge letdown for me, despite its dark story being novel and refreshing for the series as a whole.
Huge fan of the original Zelda. I wanted to love this game back when it came out but I found it annoying and just disjointed for lack of a better word. Overall for me this game was a huge let down.
Z2 and BOO aren't super similar, albeit both great games. I nostalgically play both on occasion. The casual run for BOO requires tons of olive 🫒 collecting which is probably what keeps it from being a 10/10
Nice Zelda 2 run here Lack! Btw, if you are interested you should check out my Zelda Classic Quest Temples of Turmoil! I'd love to see you knock that out. It would definitely challenge you!

"No problem. Give me like an hour."
Noone asked link to travel the world. Hyrule is literally the size of like two football fields Bro
You are literally my favorite speed runner… been following you for a few months now and I always get excited to see your vids…
I've been periodically checking to see if you ever upload any new content to RUclips. Glad to see you back even if it's only for a short time.
I do plan to do more uploads in the coming weeks!
We missed you Lack! Hopefully we see more Zelda runs across the series! :)
Absolutely incredible. Last palace was sick.

Those few mistakes really F'd up your goal, but it's nice to see a PB at least!
Lack, nice to see you again. Love this category.
Happy to see you back. I always enjoy watching your speedruns since you're pretty laid back while doing them.

Awesome PB lack I enjoyed watching the run
What a run. GG
Congrats for your new PB.
Long time, no see. I will "never" forget the time you ran The Legend of Zelda, _blindfolded!_
Definitely one of my more popular runs. It was really fun to do!
Hands down best intro I've ever heard
Good seeing my you back!!!
This game is masterpiece
Agreed, wish the next Zelda was in this universe
Excited to see the new runs for Goals 4.0
LACK IS BACK!!!
Was not well equipped to play this when it came out. So good to see you beat the crap out of this one with the micro-second reaction times~
Welcome back :)
Never cease to amaze Lack
The Eco Key boost at 50:00 was really impressive. First time I'd ever seen that. Makes me wonder who discovered that, ya know?
I think it was trial and error, I'm not sure who discovered it though
Thanks for using your skills to play this cool game.
What up lack!?!?!?!? Been way too long man....glad to see you posting new runs....
YES! Thanks for posting this.
missed you!!!! Welcome back!!!!
Yessssss!!! Welcome back, great choice of game as well. I see zelda 2, i hit like.
Links awaking has some side scrolling. The Japanese version you can level up whatever you want to it not limited to one class
Lmao I thought you said your favorite SMELL was fire 😂.

LackAttack is back!
I never played this game but it looks fun, is this a game you can just pick up and play without knowing anything?
THE LACK ATTACK IS BACK!
How does the exp counter vary? I’ve never seen that before. Going up and down like that from 2000 down to 100 etc..
Not sure I understand. Do you mean when I level up sometimes it goes down?

A really good speedrun, glitchless. I did not like others where players go trought locked door with fairy without key
I'm not convinced that is a "glitch", as fairies are small and the keyhole is pretty large. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed the run!
as someone who wants to run oot 100% no srm oot is such an amazing game
Leaving palace 1 with a lvl 4 sword is nice
Yay! New content!

My goal this summer is to post more videos!
I cant get past the Hanger on the first Doom.
Could you imagine taking a child, and somehow carry it in your tjnkc with all the other shit.
Not sure what would be more cumbersome, the child, the raft, or an always-lit candle
Did you miss the 1 up doll in the graveyard with Kings Tomb or did i just miss you picking it up?
I didn't get that one. It's not required for 100%. There are 2 other dolls I didn't pick up. One in the south swamp near Kasuto and one in Great Palace
This dude sounds exactly like John Flaherty . Ex Yankee Cather/Announcer
what does the 1cc stand for in the category name
One credit clear, a nod to arcade games, which means no game overs.
I don't remember seeing you get the life that's to the left of the graveyard
nevermind, forgot to check the scope of the run
Yeah the extra life dolls aren't required
I literally clapped IRL after parts of this lol
