Just watched the movie today. The court speech was heart breaking, but this is actually my favorite scene. When he said to him in his prison cell, that they're not friends, that they're on opposite lines, and that their kids never played together, I knew right away that the movie was going to end with exactly such scene.

We're trying. We're actually closer to realizing the dream than we have been at any time in the past. We sometimes forget as we continue to address systemic inequality, that a lot of progress has been made, and to celebrate the victories we've had even as we demand more.
For the first time, a majority of Americans now stand firmly against racism and racial inequality. America is probably ahead of europe in terms of countering casual racism, because we talk freely about it and call people out when they're being problematic. europe still struggles to do that at times.

This was a time when not only did black people get wrongfully accused of crimes they did not commit even if there was no evidence to prove they did, but crimes committed against black people was looked past even if there was all the evidence in the world just because they were black and to them they black people didn’t matter. This is a great, great movie!
However there are two essential parts of the story without which I could never ever watch it again:
One is the fact that those monsters are burning in hell.
The other is the fact that the father is acquitted, is reunited with his family, and now they're all going to be friends!
    Fantastic! 🌈✨🕊️

What an amazing scene this was! What do you think Carl Lee was thinking when Jake said...."I thought our kids could play together?" At first when he seen him pull up it looks like he was thinking...."what are they doing here?"

I would love for both Hannah & Tonya to have gone and become Lawyers. Tonya could go to a HCBU (Historically College Black University) and have Hannah go to Ole Miss like her Parents did. They both settle in Memphis, TN., where they become adversaries in a Case where Tonya finds out that a Multi Million Dollar Record Label is also a "Front" for a Drug & Prostitution Line that was "Fronted" by Carl Lee's Former Army Buddy from Vietnam KT Bruster aka "Cat".
