Execution Scene- "The Green Mile"- This Scene Tests Your Empathy

This scene tests your empathy in a way that you may not think of, right away. We see the parents of the two murdered girls, and hear their comments toward John, as they believe he really killed their two little girls.

My Thoughts on John Coffey's Death In 'The Green Mile'.

John Coffey's character was a clear example of the whole 'magical negro' or 'magical minority' trope. His death was problematic in more ways than one.

Edward Scissorhands: 'framed' and arrested.
Jim is just a discount Ace Merrill.
Her father looks perhaps 25/35% black at most. That would put Kamala 15 or 20% black at the very most. She is certainly embellishing/ exaggerating her black heritage.
Im glad kim dumped him. Jim provoked that scratch. She didn't get killed i just think he didnt want to accept that he already lost kim. Edward earned her love tbh 💯
1:35 Perfect. No words, just perfect.🙂👍🏽💯💖
All humans have racial biases, and I think this ccene is a great example of having to make a consious effort to step out of our comfort zone to build bridges. This was really a wonderful movie with so many amazing acting performances that did the powerful and emotional story justice.
I Love this Movie! One of my faves
that's true that's why i don't really watch them. they be saying some ignorant shit and they are country asf.
Anthony Michael Hall, definitely studied and got inspiration from Judd Nelson's character John Bender and Emilio Estevez's charecter Andrew from the Breakfast Club to prepare for this role. He was usually typecasted as the soft nerdy guy in the 80s.
The lord only sees one race. No color. He separated us at babel for a reason. If u are a man made in gods image then why does ur color matter. I was raised to hate black and white and over time my mommy and my daddy both seen what was wrong and now think right. My gpa made a black man on thanksgiving eat at the corner of the street in athens illinois. 10 years later he was a totally different man and its movies that put this in our face that help us see. I love jesus christ i dont care if he was black i dont care if he white i care that he died for us all regardless of his color. Ima white man 8 beautiful babies all white if any of my 5 daughters find a man like carl lee haley in this movie ill walk u down the aisle. Im so sick of race.
And so what idiots
Really? smh KAMALA HARRIS IS AN AMERICAN. MOVE ON. 🇺🇸
I've just heard so much discussion on her and her father's ethnicity. Thought I'd chime in.
Politics is full of dog whistles and non-issues. I know of several families, mine included, with a milkman heritage. Who cares?
Jamaican is NOT A RACE.
@@stillfoxyforever you're right it's not.

I guess Carl Lee was not safe untill The Klan stops acting in the south.
The end of that movie brought tears to my eyes.....one of my favorite movies!
My heart just melts to when he says I thought our kids could play together 😊😊😊
Despite all of his roles, I feel this is SLJ’s best performance
Nothing like listening to gospel music! It flows through your soul. ❤
Fun Fact. Natalie Portman was in The Professional movie as the little girl! ❤
Venom : You come in here again... In fact, you go anywhere in this city, preying on innocent people, and we will find you and we will eat both of your arms and then both of your legs. And then we will eat your face right off your head. Do you understand? Jim: [stammering] No. No. Please... Venom : Yes. So, you will be this armless, legless, faceless thing, won't you, going down the street like a turd in the wind? Do you feel me? Jim: What the hell are you? Venom/Eddie Brock : WE... are Venom. [glances at the thug's head] Venom/Eddie Brock : On second thought... Jim: [Terrified] Please... [screams as Venom eats him] Kim: Eddie? What was that? Eddie Brock : Oh... I have a parasite. Yeah. Kim: Oh.... Thank you for saving my life.😊😊😊😊 Edward: Likewise.😊😊😊😊😊 Venom: Anytime!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
This happens much more often than media & politicians would have us believe. We should ignore them all. My family is very mixed, so is my church, so are my grandchildrens best friends. Typical Texas community. This country is NOT systemically racist at all, they are!
No closed captions!?!😢
The closing argument in the court trial was breathtaking.
Matthew should've won the Academy Award for that scene alone.
Jim was just being the Bigfoot and bully at the same time if you actually thought about it. In the first beginning, Edward didn't intend to slit Kim's hand. It was accidental due to Jim shouting at Edward, causing Edward to be startled. And if you really think about it, he's the one who also caused Edward to go to jail for breaking in his (Jim's) house
Sam & Matthew are an awesome Actors I love their films
And look at what happened to spacey 😂😂😂
❤❤❤❤❤
The closing speech was heart broken and the final scene I thought our kids could play together what scene great acting another underrated great film ignored by the academy they didn't even got nominated
was half expecting matt to say "alright alright alright" 😅
When Matthew (i can never spell his last name) makes his closing statement, and starts tearing up, those are real tears. He really did break down.
it would be so nice if there was no racism. back americans. white americans. asian americans. hispanic americans. i know that is wishful thinking. just a lot less of it!!
Hard to think the legendary Samuel L Jackson's career was kicked off by that fucked up hairline
When Edward said "What is that?" and Bill said "lemonade" and that was a lie, it wasn't lemonade, it was alcohol...and there I could say that Bill told a lie to Edward.
That's how you end racism!!!
Take it from this movie guys the doucheyness gets old after a while. The sensitive guy got the girl!
I agree with you not so much on the race part because that doesn't matter to me, but as a Christian I use to listen to them because they claimed Christianity and had a clean show. On the other hand, lately their language is very vulgar and I had to stop watching them because of the filthy things coming out of their mouths, I no longer support them, just disgusting.😞
Riveting ending
Doyle baked his last cookie of discontent.
Who's is he? That have mickey mouse tattoo on his neck?
No they are doing exactly what the media does.
The opposite actually. The media never says black, it's always "TEEN" or no mention at all. If perp is white, they won't say it but will show his/her picture. HT's know what's up.
1. Satire Comedy 2. If you really want to know go back to their videos 3 years ago. In my opinion black folks shunned the so they said "Ok we gon roast yall too"
I agree with a lot of what the Hodge Twins say. They call us out equally and have video's of white people doing bad things. They make fun of us sometimes, which is funny to me. I have a more open perspective, I dont take it personally. When they actually talk about an issue and not make jokes, they're fair, and call a spade a spade. At the end of the day it's only an opinion. It's a free country, so we're entitled to our own voice and opinion. There are far worse people on platforms than these guys
Dude, your infection of an ideology will die out eventually. Imagine your own mindset and all the brainwashed who agree with what you’re trying to imply, but that’s cool… wonder what the deal with the black Twitter reply show is and if I should be mad or upset BET was a thing… people that can’t find humor in something as irrelevant as skin color is a joke to begin with. I’m an idiotist dude and you are checking every box. Fishing for views. Nice giving the Hodge Twins more recognition though, they both deserve it for being able to think for themselves.
There just jokes they talk crap on everyone. Gays , women, white people, black peoples, and Mexicans .
First off comedians and second that word is used as it should be. In the hood we say it all the time I say it everyday at least 5 times max couldn’t count it’s part of my language where I’m from I hear it easily over 100 times daily used. Quit tripping over it
Everyone knows the difference between a black person and a n*
You should ask Chris Rock for the difference.
They're right most of the time. The black community is an absolute mess right now. We have all of these black mothers teaching their young daughters to shake their ass as if its cute. Then young boys cursing out adults without consequences
They, like the rest of us, have a higher-power to answer to at the end of the day. :)
What are you filming with? a potato?
