My main issue with reflecting on slavery in the past is that nobody will be able to recognize slavery in the future because they're looking out for an exact copy of the past.
@@chuckemeade Because slavery, in the past, wasn't necessarily wrong. The chattel slavery in the American South was uniquely evil. All other forms were just indentured servitude.

That's said to downplay their involvement in the slave trade and make it all about the "europeans". The fact is The very first american slave owner was black. Just to give you a little more facts in your statements here- 1.Africans that sold slaves to the Europeans had no idea what they were selling their kinsmen into. They had no idea of the international enterprise they were sending their people to. 2. Once they stopped selling slaves to the Europeans or they didn't sell enough, the Europeans KIDNAPPED Africans and FORCED them into slavery. 3. Here in New Orleans, black people owned slaves, but you couldn't go ANYWHERE else in the country and do that, less the black slave owner and the slave would be sold (As you correctly stated, it was the exception and not the rule in America). 4. The Europeans made an international enterprise from African people by dealing them as one would deal livestock and other goods and services. No other race of people in HISTORY invented, established, and procured an institution the way they did. Thank you for your video and keep searching for the truth. The more it's hidden, the more it NEEDS to be found and exposed.
African slavery was unique: yeah... so was every other slave trade in history. Slaves being used as guinea pigs has been a tragic part of not just black slavery but all slavery. Look what the Egyptians and Aztecs did to inferior slaves that weren't worth much. Chiefs and kings are not to blame but buyers that made it happen: meh, the severity of who to blame is equal actually. The Chiefs and kings could have also said this is wrong. Blacks were exclusively meant for white owners: about half the slaves from the Atlantic slave trade were sent all over the American continent; south, central, and American islands. If you had said that The Atlantic slave trade was the most successful system to wrongfully capitalize on slavery maybe I could agree to that. Today we can all agree the history of slavery is wrong. But to say things should have or could have been different makes me believe alot of people suffer from presentism. Today we have machines to do everything we've ever dreamed of.
Think again on that one. The african kings and chiefs are EQUALLY responsible for the evil that occured on the slave ships and on American shores, and the evil that continued for many many generations on US shores after the initial wrong of the African leaders?
