Undisputed, GREATEST film of the 90's. You just never know how it will end nor do you want it to end. As it reaches this climax you know there can never be a sequel and it's clearly orchestrated to be this way. Words fail me in describing how truly epic and timeless this film is. RIP Patrick Swayze x
I saw this movie at the end of a four movie marathon at the Carlton Theatre in Hamilton NZ, it must have been 130am in the morning and the audience still cheered when Swayze mentioned New Zealand.
6:25 is heartbreaking when Johnny knows this will be the last time he sees or speaks to Bodhi, no matter what these two have been through and even if they are on different sides of the law, they remember how they met, and they became friends and bonded only like best friends can bond, especially when Bodhi backed Johnny up against those punks from before. If Johnny didn't truly care for Bodhi then he wouldn't have let him go out the way he wanted to. To me the most heartbreaking aspect of it all is the friendship had to come to an end because of them being on both sides of the law, and I feel that Johnny was hurt from this and he knew his life as FBI agent was done, he couldn't go back to that life anymore especially when it took his best friend, no matter what Bodhi chose as a lifestyle, he always had Johnny's back and loved him like a brother.
This movie really made me want to live life to the fullest ( Skydiving, Surfing, Travelling ). One of my favorite movies of all time. Rest in peace Patrick, you were taken too soon but the good die young. 5 Star movie for anyone who's never seen it.
God I love this scene. While Utah is clearly not there to let him walk or have his moment with the waves, there's still respect between them. Bodhi feels the same way, and it shows with such simple dialogue. Commenting he 'knew he could count on Utah', asking him if he still surfs. In the midst of explaining how far he went to track him down, clearly still aiming to arrest him and make him pay for his role in everything... he still takes the time to answer Bodhi with the truth, and shows the influence Bodhi had on him. I love that small nod of Bodhi, a hint of a smile, proud of Johnny for continuing to embrace life to the fullest rather than who he used to be. I like to think that influence led to Johnny tossing his badge in the ocean, walking away from that life and starting anew. I might be way off but just my thoughts from this scene. I'm glad Bodhi got the ending he wanted, going out the way he wanted: all go, no stop. RIP Patrick. You were such an amazing talent.
Well said brother. Epic ending and amazing movie. The mutual respect came from the fact that despite Utah wanting to admit it, he and Bodie were the same. They were both chasing something. 🤙

Amazing movie that’s not forget amazing song from Ratt.” Nobody rides for free” how perfect.
RIP Patrick Swayze still sadly missed
Epic movie. One of the best ever made.
Thanks for the flash back, I first saw this Epic film in the early 90s. Way Underrated.
I love how even though Johnny liked Bodhi and even respected him he still says "You gotta go down. It's gotta be that way."
CLASSIC 5 STAR FILM !!!!! THIS ENDING IS EPIC !!!!!!!!💯💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙💙⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just what you need in a rainstorm- jeans and a jean jacket from 1990.
This will always be one of my all-time favorite films.❤ R.I.P Patrick Swayze
"You crossed the line and people trusted you and died" Superb script. Powerful words
Swayze's reaction to getting cuffed as he's put a beat down on Keanu was trully gripping and powerful
"We'll get him when he comes back in! ...he's not coming back"
No clue why, but definitely one of my favorite film endings ever. It's very fitting.
I know why! Well, actually no, I have no clue why either... very strange.
Definitely one of the best endings... That avi of your is kick ass!
fight looked real, it wasn't phony and didn't drag on forever. it was quick and to the point.
This was the first R-rated movie I ever watched. I was 8 years old and it was on HBO back in the day. To this day, it is still one of my favorite movies and I always watch it on the first day of summer every year.
obviously you can believe what you want but its pretty obvious he died. Think back to his quote earlier in the movie "It's not tragic to die doing something you love." This was the biggest and his final wave.
boodie had balls to live free his way till the bitter end god bless him
He Knew he had a Price To Pay & He went on His terms
Really wish they could have rebooted this properly. RIP Bodie. You really showed em who's who at the most bad ass impromptu beachside sporting event in cinema history.
I will always love Patrick Swayze. Im older so I remember him in the war movie the North and South. One of the best miniseries to ever come on television and the Outsiders. He was just one of the best. Rest In Heaven 🙏🙏🙏
One of Patrick Swayze's best movies. Oh yeah I forgot, Keanu Reeves was in it. Really, he was noticeable.
Swayze was the Steve McQueen of his time. One Cool Dude 😎!
Bubbles liked him.
Like McQueen, Swayze was "taken too soon"!.
“He’s not coming back” if only we all knew how true those words were then. He will always be missed
FYI for anyone who doesn't know 'Bodhi' is a buddhist word for enlightened, or short for Bodhisattva which is an enlightened person or existance.
Say what you want, when this movie came out it rocked.
I miss you so much, Patrick!
2:46 My favourite moment in the entire movie, and it’s so subtle. Despite everything that has happened, there is still on some level a mutual respect. Utah probably feels a little indebted to Bodhi for being the one who taught him how to surf. Something that is now a huge part of Utah’s life. Goddamn I love it
Plot twist, he did infact paddle to New Zealand, Utah later met him there similar to the end of Shawshank Redemption.
This movie came out the same year I was born. That's one of the reasons why I love it so much. PLEASE GOD DON'T LET THEM REMAKE THIS! THE LEGACY OF IT WILL BE RUINED!!! HOLLYWOOD NEEDS TO LEAVE THESE CLASSIC FILMS ALONE AND START BEING CREATIVE AGAIN!!!
There already was a remake. It sucked.
It's like surfing off a nine storey building. You only need to wipe out once and you're done.
Wow! So he really died then?
@@qwe-cu4yv - In the context of the original movie, 100% yes. Dead. BUT the original writer, Peter Iliff, wrote a sequel script where Bodhi has survived. Seeing as that will never get made, now that Swayze has passed on, yes, in cinematic terms, Bodhi is dead.
My older sister snuck me into this movie in the theater when I was 8 or 9. Something I'll never forget, can't appreciate movies anymore they don't have the special feel like movies back then had.. I refuse to watch the new one, because this can't be beat
You gotta love it when "Nobody Rides for Free" kicks in. What an awesome film
I keep replaying 6:56. The match of the image of the wave in slow motion with those strings/sinthesizers sounding...there is something primal there, something deep which i can't quite identify. Goosebumps of biblical proportions.
The vastness of Jehovah's seas mixed with his crowning creation's (man) Passion willing to die free than rot ages.
All that emotion and power summed up in one scene.
This proved man wasn't only flesh. He was willing to die for his passion. He was more
"WE'LL GET HIM WHEN HE COMES BACK IN!" 7:18
He's not coming back.
It's just an Australian accent, haven't you ever heard one before? Get over it, it's how they speak, they can't help it
tosgem It's not his accent that made me laugh. It's the way he said it, the look on his face, the emotion. It was hilarious. Are you offended because you could be an Aussie?
Kirbstopher I doubt it. That wasn't an Australian accent, it was one of the worst fakes I've heard. tosgem was just trying to look smart.
Man, he did what every dude in the world has wanted to do . He did it his way.
This scene was Filmed entirely on location at Cannon Beach, Oregon...But I STILL LOVE this Movie!!!
You're not wrong!!!
Looks nothing like Bells Beach …
I was pretty bummed that he wiped out almost immediately after paddling out.
I know right!? he should have an epic ride where he 'totally shreds' and then dies.. or it should have been left open to the possibility of him surviving..
He didn't die, He paddled to New Zealand
🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿
One of the greatest endings in all of cinema.
Patrick swayze…. Such a legend
