i have problems with ai. in race(5 opponents) ai isnt working. in replay isnt working, but if in the replay there's only 1 car(like rally replay) ai is working good. how i can solve? i am on duckstation
@@DanieleMamelicoolestaura516 close 60 fps code to fix replays
The video title really undersells it. Not many console games get such a great mod treatment.
My favorite racing game of all time. I loved taking the shittiest car and tuning it into a monster after grinding race after race to save up the money.
An incredibly in-depth yet concise video with great chaptering. Excellent job, you deserve a lot more views and subscribers.
Thanks
I was aware of the 60FPS, widescreen codes, and the KM/h modifier and asked the dev if it was possible to expand the draw distance and car details, it was probably in 2019, and now we're here, this is one of the best games of all time, and now, better than never.
Also, I'm thinking if someone would reverse engineer this game at some point, like they did with Driver 2 for PC, that would be even better than using cheats, I'm not complaining though. Applying the cheats right now.
Driver 2 had some debug symbols left in one of its builds (basically descriptive names for each bit of code, used during development). There aren't any known symbols for any GT2 build, so it's a lot harder to do sadly.
Fair enough, now I wish developers had forgotten those debug symbols for all games from that era.
Wait wait what did I miss about Driver 2?
it's mind-blowing how the community just do this for free, Thx for bringing my childhood with an insane upgrade.
Really hoping this video blows up, what these guys have done is a heck of a blessing for GT2!
One of the best GT games ever made (GT2, 4 and 5 for me) and one of the must haves for PS1 next to titans like Tekken 3 and Castlevania Symphony of the Night. An outstanding racing game that went above and beyond what was thought possible with the hardware limitations. Sure the physics are not super realistic (although very good for today and excellent for the time) but cars handle differently and it is FUN. Outstanding game.
you skipped gt3 , what happened?
@@olevet75 I liked GT3 but 4 for me was 3 but better at everything. The car list alone was so much better... And the limited used car deals...
I love these videos showing games perform better than they ever have in the past. Thanks!!
Probably 1 year late, but there's one more thing to do - NegCon emulation (or JogCon which should theoretically provide rumble, but I haven't tried it).
Setting up the controller as NegCon instead of standard DualShock allows you to make GT2's controls closer to a modern racing title with analog accel, brake, and 1:1 steering with deadzone and range customization, all in the game as GT2 supports NegCon natively. This also allows you to map steering wheels with 1:1 steering control.
Man, it's so awesome to see great games from the past get so much well deserved love. Also, you've really come a long way since changing from HighBunker to MrJohn and you're improving by the day - and I really mean that. Your videos are entertaining and informative and even though I've always been an ePSXe-boy (no pun intended) when it comes to emulation, I just have to give Duckstation with all those amazing extras a try! :)
Edit: Oh my god, this is so awesome, I love it! Setting up was also easy and quick. Duckstation is the future! :3
Thanks man
This is great. I was just getting back into the game on duckstation, so it's nice to see such an amazing title from my childhood get even better.
Great video, real comprehensive list of the best available for GT2 today!
Great channel man! Btw Silent also done a lot of improvements, max lod for cars in race, better distance view etc. Amazing!!
I think Duckstation has included most (if not all) GT2 codes by now? Just tested and everything mentioned seems to be already there.
Great video, thanks for bringing attention to all this awesome mod work on GT2. It's like a bonafide remaster at this point and I bet there's tons of fans that don't even know about it sadly.
To add to this If you have a modern steering wheel you can play this and a lot of PSX racing games with a wheel using the Negcon settings in the controller menu. When using duckstation of course. You won't have force feedback sadly but seeing one to one steering with a modern wheel on an old game like this is really amazing.
I didn't get this to work to be honest. Am I missing something that I should set-up in my wheel options? Or is it in Duckstation? I've tried this multiple times to no avail.
@@CLOYO You should first setup the Negcon in the duckstation controller settings section. Change the controller type in port 1 to NeGcon. Setup your buttons and change the axis binding of steering by turning your wheel. Button I and II should be set to your brake and accelerate pedals.
Looks so smooth. In the future with some custom textures it will be even better.
Thank you for this vid
I'm gonna try this later, i saw you in facebook, i thought it was going to be a meme xD
It would be cool to see a patch like this with Soul Reaver using the Dreamcast character models and an increased draw distance.
Never understood the whole Soul Reaver thing so many other amazing games on the Dreamcast, my favourite ever console by the way.
I believe there is a 60 FPS patch for the PC version. It doesn't have the Dreamcast models though.
If anyone is running into an issue where menu music and race music seems to be taking a while to start, change your disc read/write settings from normal to 2x. These settings can be found right under the CPU overclocking option that's shown in the video.
This is a really helpful video mate
I've known about Plus for a while but didn't know about those other mods until after. The game definitely looks and runs great with the 60 fps mod and all the other things.
Thanks for the video, I appreciate it. Made me want to tinker around with GT2 all day with these codes along with the AI codes.
You are welcome
Hell yes... playin it. Loved this game when i was younger!!
This is after the video got released but Silent has later released the "Combined Disc" tool which let you merge the Arcade Mode Disc and the Simulation Mode Disc into one Combined Disc where you can select both modes from within the menu. This will work with both the cheats above, as with GT2 plus. Make sure to patch GT2 plus before all that and that you use the cheats meant for the Simulation Disc when using the Combined disc.
You may already know about this, but it's for those who look at this video just now.
Gt2 issues aren't limited to the framerate only.
Reach 50% completion and there's a chance your garage is wiped;
some cars are allowed in races where they shouldn't (i.e. The ford gt40 in rome);
Hitbox issues and cars merging;
Stripped features due to rushed development and so on and so forth.
This mod also fixes most of these issues, the framerate isn't really one of them lol
Wow, great information. Thanks
I'm here because I was on Steam's Blood Fresh Supply page and saw the gta/blood cultist "Cultist Roasts Franklin". Take care!
Thanks for the guide!
GT2 looks great at 60 fps per second, but I still prefer the old crusty PS dithering with European 15 fps video system (PAL).
Yeah, but Playing at 25 FPS looks so dreadful after using the 60 FPS Mod
Wow I wish I aged as well as this game, the mods go along way in making the game more palatable for the eyes and makes me want to experience my youth again.
not sure how anyone can dislike this video but this was the best tutorial for sure
I was always fascinated about those replays playing different, even mines.
Best Racing/Driving Game from PS1 Era
(In my opinion)
Excellence vídeo!
Finally I can play GT2 as intended. Also starting from 1:45, what's the background music from?
Epic video.
I was getting frustrated that none of the codes would work, but I realized I have the NTSC 1.0 version and there are no cheats for it. gonna try again with 1.2 lol
i think ive run across some issues of my own regarding the rally ghost cars, they only seem to be driving into the wall in every event. I'm just desperate leaving comments on heaps of videos. any thoughts?
I have successfully gotten a significant framerate increase by doubling the emulator clock speed. You could probably speed it up more, but be careful to only select integer multiples of the factory clock speed. That ensures that some calculations don’t get truncated by being on an odd clock cycle. It’s the modulo effect.
Thank you

What's the name of the song with SNES sound style? I love it...
Hi there! I've been trying to get these cheats to work with Retroarch on Android but have had no luck. I'm sure I'm using the correct codes for my simulation disc version (NTSC-U v1.2), but after I load them on Retroarch they do nothing. I've tried with the Swanstation, Beetle PSX and PSX Rearmed cores, none of them seem to know how to handle the cheat codes on Silent's site. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
The fact that a PS1 Gran Turismo has better Car Headlights graphics than Forza Horizon 5 its jus unbelievable to me
60fps patch was made by Asasega not cookiemonster. You can even see the credit on Cookie's website.
thanks for mention it, I didn't know, you gotta give a credit where the credit is due, allowed me to replay my fav dream (gt1 ntsc -j) game in glorious 60fps !!
I got it working thanks
Silent does Gran Turismo? I know him for Grand Theft Auto patches that fix everything and bring back missing features. San Andreas even has the 30 FPS lock for better gameplay. However, SA at higher framerates isn't recommended because the physics are tied to the frames. GT2 is better for higher FPS rates, but I play two games at their original framerates because that's how I like it.
Silent has also contributed research to the next version of GT2+ to help fix some bugs I couldn't figure out myself, and has been helping the Duckstation developers find and fix bugs in their cheat code handling so that his excellent new codes work flawlessly. It's great to have such a legend digging into GT2.
I remember playing this on my dreamcast. It ran so smoothly and graphics upgrade was a nice touch.
wish I could see how it ran on bleemcast, never did
You can also set your triggers to your right analog stick's up and down to get a more modern control scheme
you can do that on duckstation now?
@@KingLich451 yeah you can do it with any emulator lol
I do have a question, the version of the game that I used is marked under as just SCUS-94488, which version of the NTSC release is that considered?
does this way of doing things break the game timing and ai the way that other codes do?
Nice a Yellow evo
Great!
Muito bom!!
5:57 tha Muscle car is way closer to the wall in 60 FPS, are there problems with AI or replays?
it's a different replay probably
I have an issue when closing to other cars they partly vanish, any idea how to get rid of it without loosing smooth graphics?
Anybody know how to look for what version of the game you have based on the disk and game alone without the case? I have the NTSC U version and I think I have the 1.2 version, but I just want to make sure
I swear, when i saw this yellow Lancer running at 60 FPS and Widescreen, I thought that it was an Assetto Corsa mod.
Fun fact, the reason why that red Plymouth in Seattle Circuit is called "Plymouth Muscle Car" is because it's supposed to be a Plymouth Road Runner. But since Polyphony would have to get the license from Warner Bros. to use that name (Plymouth licensed it from WB IRL), they chose to just call it a generic muscle car instead.
60 FPS will break AI in rally races, and replays.
has anything in terms of getting these setup changed? it says that they are enabled when i boot the game up but everything it the exact same. still mph, still 30fps, still stretched res. none of them are actually working
Makes me wonder if you could get into the game files and AI upscale the textures themselves.
Tu é brasileiro man? Seu windows tá em portugues, seja brasileiro ou portugues, seu inglês é muito bom! Parabéns pelo conteudo apresentado.
Thanks Obrigado
where i find the delta patcher since im using the usa version of the mod v 1.2
How are you doing that? I'm playing this game now on the ps2
wait i thought 60fps breaks replays
Really cool video!
Thanks!
There is also the Combined Disc mod, that lets you play both Arcade and Simulation mode on the same disc by selecting the mode in the main menu like GT4. It even works with GT2 Plus!
@pndrm_ just make sure to do the GT2+ patch on both bins before doing combined disc :)
Does this work on Batocera as well?
Hey MrJohn, I got a question. When I opened cheat's manager, there were already some cheats. Are these Silences?
i dunno
@@MrJohnReviews Hey It's me again. I've ran into a issue when patching my GT2 PAL version with completed one (also PAL). Because in GT2 there are 2 files: .bin and .cue, and after patching the .bin file (.cue one couldn't even get patched because of being too small) I got an error when opening GT2. This is strange, because when doing so for ePSXe emulator everything worked fine. Do you know how to resolve this?
@@supporting_fox4057 for duckstation open the cue file
@@MrJohnReviews Hey, thanks for closing my gap. In duckstation I clicked start file, clicked on this patched version and I't finally worked as properly. Thanks alot John
@@supporting_fox4057 you're welcome
Hi, I downloaded duckstation and it just gave me a zip file. How do I open the program to be the same as you had at 4:14
Thanks!
No logro que corra a 60fps en xbox series s, hago todo pero no funciona
Tips followed. My game is looking mega phat. Good deal.
how to use the widescreen code i play this on epsxe emulator android
Eh, they made MPH default on the NTSC version because America still generally uses the Imperial system and will probably never drop it.
yo you should make same video about gran turismo 1
I did everything like in the video. It works well mostly but I have this weird music delay in some menus like the pre race menu or the license test select menu. Is there a way to fix that? (It's the NTSC 1.2 version btw).
Same issue here dude. It is really annoying that the beginning of the race song does not play out fully because of the delay. Music in-race seems not affected tho.
I'm also using NTSC 1.2, and did the same steps like in the video, tho i haven't yet reversed my steps to check if any of this settings mess the menu music.
I'll reply if I find a fix, hope you will too :)
it's probably the 60fps mod that fucks with the music tracks
@oskarcmr25 @James Lizer Think i got it.
i have just changed the read/write CD speeds from none to 4x (8x speed) and this has fixed the problem. Tho I'm still looking out for any glitches or game crashes, tho none yet...
the option is located under the CPU speed and "allow 8mb of RAM" options mentioned in the above video.
@@croman2000 I tried it and it worked. Thanks
@@oskarcmr25 glad it worked. I notced that 4x makes the music start a bit too early, so the beggining-of-the-race songs ends a second before the countdown sounds start. Maybe if you set it to 2x it will be like the original, tho imo i like these instant loading times
No crashes yet, after couple hours of play. I even raced Apricot hill endurance without problems :)
the games ive downloaded are only shown as files and not in screen like 4:40 and ive tried to fix it and i cant so i overcloaked the emulator instead but the fps dont rise
can u somehow help?
in the game list settings, click "Scan For New Games" it should pop up
Can this be done for anbernic rg353v or android smartphones ?
yes, I play GT1 japanese first release with it on my 2019 galaxy s10e at 1080res, it runs it very smoothly, I have dual shock hooked to it as well with great ffb
Emulo ps1 en series s con duckstation y no me funciona 😥😥
Followed every step for the 60 FPS and it didn't work?
From my experience - duckstation has relatively bad input lag issue... not sure how good is this emulator
Ha ha ha! We old fogies thought 30 FPS was not only tolerable, it was fantastic on a lot of 3D games!
Draw distance doesn't work and i can't find a proper settings to adjust the correct game speed. ePSXe is better except for missing wide scale.
You mentioned how if I already have a save of vanilla GT2 on DuckStation, I can't use GT2 Plus with these mods, but what if my save is a GT2 Plus save already? Can I add these patches to an already in-progress GT2 Plus save file?
Yes
@@MrJohnReviews Okay so the only problem I have is I actually can't remember what version of GT2 Plus I'm using (idk if I'm on 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2) and I have no easy way of figuring it out. Is it safe to trial and error different versions of a code and whichever one works tells me what version of the game I have? Or does that break the emulator or something
tcrf.net/Gran_Turismo_2/Revisional_Differences this might help if you dont know what Version u have.
@@MrJohnReviews my ISO is already patched with GT2 Plus and all of the things that would originally let me know which version I have are fixed in GT2 Plus. its a lot harder to tell in GT2 Plus. so am i able to trial and error the different versions of the cheats until i find the right one?
Só what Version of the Vanilla GT2 copy you had before patching it?
I tried enabling the widescreen hack but nothing happens
I don't understand what's wrong. I followed all the directions and none of this is working. Tried the cheats from 1.1 and 1.2
Wait 60fps for NFS HS PS1
Are you playing this on an emulator?
I don't remember it looking this good as a kid!
I'd love to revisit this game.
Yes, it's on an emulator. You need an emulator to make the game look this good.
Os cheats servem pro DuckStation de celular?
sim / yes
i dont know much about ps1 emulation is this harm full to my pc or not
No
But where do I actually get the game, all these simulation ones etc are bits of the game, nothing wants to mount or load.
I dont know why, but the widescreen cheats don't have any effect
I using the right version, all right
Try changing your display resolution or aspect ratio in your emulator.
Is it can be works with the psp ver?
it was 60 fps already, you can aplly amazing crt lines
overclocking through an emulator yeaaaaah great idea
25 fps in Europe, but still very playable to be honest.
Can you please do a tutorial like this for epsxe emulator
sadly EPSXE is very outdated, just use Duckstation trust me is much better.
@@MrJohnReviews Thanks, i just downloaded duckstation and starting playing gt2 here, it's so much better and i entered all cheat codes and it's amazing but im playing on 4x 720p because 1080p+ is strange and 1440p is lag
@@MrJohnReviews But still very good :) tysm
Gt2 modding, and there gt4 modding, wtf is happen with retro gaming omg i love it
Unfortunately the 60fps cheat doesn't seem to work anymore, hopefully they get this fixed up
