I think what this song demonstrates is how much restraint Angelina exhibits in her other music. She could belt and impress the critics (rare as they are) as most very often do. She seems to be about musical quality, not about using music as only a means to exploit herself. This song, of course, was a tribute which puts it into a different category - intended to be more of a faithful reproduction.

Hi Jon. Something that makes Angelina quite different to other artists is the relationship she has with her audience. All through her songs she is communicating with her audience. I think she is seen as a national treasure in Norway as a result of her appearance on Norways Got Talent. When you get to thje end of a song you sometimes stop a little early. Her curtsey is like a trademark at the end of many of her performances and it helps complete the perfomance for the audience. Great reactions.
Angelina did this after Whithey passed as a tribute to her. AJ is a deep alto, so she strained just a bit to reach the high ones at the end there. Despite of that her quality is undeniable! LOL This happened to me just over 6 years ago and I haven't been able to stop listening to this young lady since. I'm subscribing to follow your journey, and by the looks of things, you've already earned your wings. (Angelina refers to her fans as her Angels ) Everyone always says to start at the beginning with her 7 year old audition in Norway's Got Talent, and winning it all at 8 years old, but there is a video that was put out before that of when she was 6 years old, and her first time recording in a studio. Yes, an amazing performance, especially when you realize that Whitney was well into her 20's and had a studio full of professionals working on this song for over a week. Meanwhile Angelina comes home from school and does this with just a karaoke backing track in her home studio! Many fans have come to the realization that our favorite Angelina song, is the last one we heard her sing. Whether that is the 1st time, or 500th time we have heard it :)
Whitney was around 29 when she did this; Angelina was 13 and, in my opinion, did it better with more emotion (which is the main thing for me in a song, not technical perfection). Whitney did it in a professional sound studio with professional musicians, equipment, gadgets, etc. Angelina did this at home with a microphone and a soundtrack! And if confidence and maturity were valued at a million dollars, Angelina matched Whitney's dollar for dollar! No disrespect to Whitney as an artist, but if Angelina can do this at 13 (and even younger!), what kind of musical force will she be in her 20's to be reckoned with?! Complete insanity coming from a 13 year old. Not only the fact that Angelina has the pipes and the range, but that she has the musical maturity for such an interpretation. After the key change at 5:28, she finally is starting to feel what it takes to make it through one of the greatest diva songs of all time. This is almost on par with Whitney’s studio original, which Whitney sadly was nowhere near recreating for most of her career. Mind you, Angelina Jordan is first and foremost a jazz singer (or at least started out as one). One telling comment from a pro vocalist: «So why is a jazz singer singing Whitney? Because she can!».

Many fans have come to the realization that our favorite Angelina song, is the last one we heard her sing. Whether that is the 1st time, or 500th time we have heard it :)
Whitney was around 29 when she did this; Angelina was 13 and, in my opinion, did it better with more emotion (which is the main thing for me in a song, not technical perfection). Whitney did it in a professional sound studio with professional musicians, equipment, gadgets, etc. Angelina did this at home with a microphone and a soundtrack! And if confidence and maturity were valued at a million dollars, Angelina matched Whitney's dollar for dollar! No disrespect to Whitney as an artist, but if Angelina can do this at 13 (and even younger!), what kind of musical force will she be in her 20's to be reckoned with?! Hope I'm around to see the seismic, global phenomenon take place!

Complete insanity coming from a 13 year old. Not only the fact that Angelina has the pipes and the range, but that she has the musical maturity for such an interpretation. After the key change at 5:28, she finally is starting to feel what it takes to make it through one of the greatest diva songs of all time. This is almost on par with Whitney’s studio original, which Whitney sadly was nowhere near recreating for most of her career.
Mind you, Angelina Jordan is first and foremost a jazz singer (or at least started out as one). One telling comment from a pro vocalist: «So why is a jazz singer singing Whitney? Because she can!».

Angelina grew up studying Jazz at 3 yrs old on utube. She sang mostly Jazz till she was 10 and then set about doing covers on the biggest Artist and the Biggest songs in music history back to the 1930’s and 40’s. She has worked diligently on her craft early doing her 1st Studio recording at 6 yrs old including an Adel cover who she seems to love right up to today at 16ys old as of Jan.10th. Her voice was beautiful at 8 yrs old. Today it is phenomenal! Angelina is fearless. Most Artists shy away from singing Acappella as it will quickly show any flaws. You can see improvement in each recording and by the time she finished Rolling in the Deep she was fully comfortable in her element. You have to love seeing her first Jump and silent cheer which showed her excitement after delivering that first chorus. She kept that enthusiasm through the rest of her performances. The beautifully clear performance of Rolling in the Deep reflect that. This was when her journey in her recording career started! IMO Hope I got the sequence right. I think I did. Enjoy!
There are singers that can hit these notes, some easily, BUT I don’t know of any who have the lower register she has to go along with it. Her range is pretty incredible.

In October 2019, she competed in the second season of America's Got Talent: The Champions, which was aired in January and February 2020.[22] Her first appearance on the show, singing an original arrangement of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", received a "golden buzzer" from judge Heidi Klum (meaning that Jordan would pass directly into the finals). As with her Norway's Got Talent audition six years earlier, a video of Jordan's performance began to go viral on RUclips, quickly reaching 10 million views. The performance also garnered praise from Queen's official Twitter account.
