Hi Mike I used the upHere 5V PWM ARGB LED system @ £20 from Amazon you recommended me in a recent stream as my motherboard had no RGB controller. The three supplied fans look great when lit up, the only problem I had was finding somewhere to place the unit in my micro atx case.

Very good imformation Mike about the 3 pin fans , most of these type hubs are the same, funny enough with my Gamemax f15 200m 3 pin fans they could not by controlled by the hub PWM motherboard asus software but you could use the controller 3 speed settings, just for testing i plugged them straight into the motherboard but Asus fan expert couldnt even detect them at all, just ran full speed.
the 200mm fans will detect if you set the motherboard fan header to VDC then reboot and set a curve

No you will also need an argb controller, check out our video on the gamemax argb hub controller
Hey Mike I really like your channel and you have great advice. I wanted to ask you If I have 10 razer kunai fans, and ordered 1 razer chroma address. rgb controller (has 6 ports), would I be able to daisy chain some of the fans to all fit on the 1 - 6 port controller? I don't care about losing individual zones for custom rgb effects if that were to be the case. Sorry if the question is too vague.
Edit: I guess I commented too early I just checked and Razer devices work with MSI mystic so I will just pick up 2 of these and daisy them. I only care for same color effect and same speed across all fans so this will work great.

Do you only need the sata cabel to use it, didnt understand what the other 2 where on the oppostite side of SATA
one is PWM input signal and the other is ARGB input from the motherboard
Not sure if I need one of these yet? Building a new 12th Gen rig in white. Thinking about the i5-12500 non K model. I bought a Gigabyte H610M S2H DDR4 motherboard. yes you can daisy chain them indefinitely

it is quite easy just plug the second hub into the first hub pwm and rgb ports and the signal will be copied to the second hub from the first from the motherboard
Those fans that you were using you can connect three fans together can you do that on the Hub

Hi Mike! I was wondering if you can recommend a fan rgb controller that can also work to individually control the fan speed? I'm new to pc as I have been a long time gaming laptop user. I recently ordered 9 120mm EKWB EK Fan loop and 2 140mm EK Fan loop. I was hoping to snag 1 or 2 fan controller but Im really really lost on which to use. I'm also on the MSI board.
there won't be one that does individual fan speed control unless it has a controller on board and it using USB and software to do it.
i would settle for all fans being the same speeds but variable, discuss it more on the discord
@@mikesunboxing dang... I kinda went for the ek loop fans because of the tech review from hardware Canucks. It just completely destroys the competition. I guess I'll have to rethink now if I can maybe trade all 9 fans for a lian li ones since the ekwb fans aren't locally available here in the southeast Asia. I'll think of a way to use this since I don't really want to ramp em up. Maybe around 36_+-40 decibels for that whisper quite performance? I'll watch your msi fan curve tutorial in the mean time hehe. Thank you so much sir!
Just incase for those that are curious about the hub not being able to control 3-pin DC fans:
1. 3 pin fans control the fan speed by varying the amount of voltage. So lesser voltage = slower fan. But after a certain point, if there is too little voltage, there isnt enough juice to power the fan. So this is where 4pin PWM fans come in.
2. The 4th pin on PWM fans is for PWM signaling. For these type of fans, they are receiving the full 12 volts. However, their fan speed is controlled by a duty cycle. So if I want 60% fan speed, within a certain duty cycle, the fan will quickly toggle on and off, it will off for 40% of the duty cycle to achieve the 60% of fan speed.
3. So if you connect a 3 pin fan to the pwm hub, the 3pin fan will always receive the full 12V. It cannot vary its speed because it does not have the 4th pin to receive the pwm signal.
(This is my very basic understanding, and might have some inaccuracies. I think someone else can explain it better! AdamantIT did a great video on this topic.)

No you will need a separate argb controller for lighting, the fan side of things will still work

Any help when PC is off, but the fans keep spinning? I have the fan hub connected to the CPU fan header. Only controlling 6 fans for the push pull config on the AIO radiator. Using coolmaster 360 AIO Illusion series. My other fans they turn off when PC is off.
no idea that is very odd, might be a short somewhere or if the pc is sleeping and not fully off
@mikesunboxing Hmm no its completely off. When I unplug the sata cable from the hub, the fans stop. Then when I plug it back, they start again. All lights turn off, all other fans that are connected to the fan header (no fan hub) they turn off. My GPU fan turn off. I got an imp...lol

this is just a hub so it will depend on the quailty and speed of the fans you attach to it

Can anyone help me out, my mobo doesn't have an ARGB header but I've got 4 fans in there that have ARGB only, how would I get them all working? I bought a thermalright hub but didn't realise you need an ARGB header on your mobo already :(
you need a argb controller, some cases have them built in, or you can buy ones that also have a remote control to change the lighting like the Gamemax argb fan we reviewed

if you want to you could but make sure the hub connects to the CPU fan header or you will get bios errors
What 3 pack fans are compatible with it I had like cheap uphere fans but there like a 6 pin and won’t work even though it showed it’s a 3 pin online and now I need toner then them and get more don’t know which to get now though
Because it shows the sp120 is a 13v but the fan hub can only take 5?? Very confused
@@keanuzac2531 the arctic p12 pwm pst argb work and most 3pin 5 volt pwm fans like these will, the uphere 5 pack is good value and work fine just get the right ones with PWM

intelligent hubs are quite hard to find these days, except the corsair ones which are a considerable expense and lock you into their ecosystem
