What still sets Adam apart from challenge eaters, aside from as someone from the UK before this show we had no idea things like this existed, is his endlessly charming and likeable personality, and I say that as a big fan of Beard and Randy, the fact he does the silly and cringy but makes it work is a gift. Also as he's not a competitive eater each challenge is genuinely interesting to see if he can actually beat it.
I ate at Humpy’s in Anchorage years after this aired and ordered the king crab legs. Hands down the best seafood I’ve ever tasted in my life. It was ridiculously good. Try it if you’re in town.

His butt was probably wedged into/onto the seat by that point, so technically he may not have left it. But I think the idea is really that you can't, for example, go to the bathroom and throw up mid-challenge or anything.
Since the berry crisp a la mode is brought out after finishing the savory parts of the meal to keep the ice cream from melting, I wonder if they stop the clock when they bring out the dessert and resume it once it arrives at your table.
Technically he lost the challenge. He got up out of his seat for the last bite. But that would have been a bad move for the restaurant to disqualify him at that point. lol
