if you prefer the Willow colour and want it in the Ducksback but it does not have that shade, you could try this other colour that Ducksback comes in which looks similar to Willow, which is Delicate Pine
I beg to differ. The garden shades is more of a paint that sits on top and is very prone to crack and peel where as the ducksback is more like a stain and does not suffer from the crack and peel.
I watched your video as I wanted to know what the differences are as I have a lot of new picket fencing to paint black. Ducksback would work out a lot cheaper than garden shades. On checking the Cuprinol website it states that Ducksback is for rough sawn timber only so you may find that it does not wear very well on your summerhouse as the wood is smooth. Only time will tell good luck.
Shades is better for smooth wood on a shed or summerhouse. It can be repainted and it will adhere. Ducksback is for rough wood and once dry it cannot be repainted on top of, it needs to be prepped properly. This takes a lot of time. Once the summerhouse needs repainting, it's gonna be the biggest pain in the ass ever!!!!!
I've been using the Cuprinol Ducksback for over 30 years and I swear by it. For water protection nothing comes near it, for the price (about £3 per litre).

ive used both many times. the garden shades might be runnier, but it covers better and last longer, especially on fencing

I agree, ducksback is for rough wood and not smooth. It is very difficult to repaint on top of and should not be used for a smooth wood summerhouse.
Very informative and the banter was good craic 😊
Great video, thanks for taking the. Effort to share your experience.

So far it’s holding up, like you said time will tell 👍

Re coated Ducksback ,with more Ducksback, for years, with no.problems.
I think it's only an issue if you try and repaint in say a week or so as I've repainted after a couple of years with no issues

It’s an amazing product, it’s holding up a lot better than the shades after a year of being applied
That Silver Copse colour is lovely, I’m going to paint fence and shed with this
We’ve just been and got some more, I’m building a pergola so we’re doing it in that colour, along with the shed, it is nice 👌
Cheers for the video... How has the grey ducksback held up in rain / sun... And signs of cracking or peeling?
Looks very good 👍🏾
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for this, was wondering what the differences are.
Love your accent and the humour too 😊
Glad you enjoyed

garden shades is rubbish, gets sun faded in 2 years
Yep, after a year on the garden room where it’s exposed to the elements it’s not weathering very well, the ducks back is much better
