Sweeping my chimney with Amazon chimney typhoon power brush sweep
Sweeping my chimney with Amazon chimney typhoon power brush sweep
So I cleaned my chimney using the Amazon chimney typhoon and the results were amazing, I was so surprised as to how much soot and dust came out. I also changed the fire bricks inside my log burner multi fuel stove which has made a massive difference to the performance of the burner.

You creed a certificate from a registered sweep to cover your insurance
as if inches isnt a brit thing lol
Do you have to use the bag or can it be used without one?
With the bag for dust etc otherwise the filter clogs up
Thanks for the demo, but you'd be in the dog house if you used my knife block for this, blunted one of my knives on the concrete and then put it back in the block without washing it!!!! 😡😅
Im not sure that sealing it all up with that silver stuff is a good idea. I could be wrong.
18 months in and we’ve had no issues so far, hopefully it stays that way
@@Thetomrichardson thanks for the update.
Will this work on concrete post?
Yes, I installed concrete posts when I erected my fence and it worked great on them as well
Thank you
He forgot to say to hold the can upright to clear the delivery tube otherwise the foam would also harden in the tube.
Do you need to use a specific underlay either A) to prevent damp or B) to allow movement ?
Just used a standard underlay from the diy store, nothing special 👍
So thats what i was doing wrong , not holding it upside down 😂 thank you! Ill try the wetting thing too.
🤣🤣
I bought a secondhand reconditioned one, a great piece of kit for the amateur!!
Definitely, it’s ideal for being used a few times a year, do t think it would last being used on a daily basis
Great video, especially the part about wetting the surface. Just an important note that expanding foam can be toxic so I wouldn't use a kitchen knife to cut it, even if you clean it afterwards with acetone, it can get messy.
Thanks 👍, it’s only the wife and kids that use the knife so I have nothing to worry about 😝
Must make sure its waterproof, not all expanding foams are, its so important to get a waterproof foam even if your covering it with panels etc, water will find its way in anywhere so again use a waterproof foam!.
Cable tie the lead to the hedge but not tight so the cable slides along
We set our Postcrete slightly differently, but it does involve 2 people and tad longer. Firstly, we drive stakes in the ground to level the post. We usually then fill the hole with 1/3rd of water. One of us then pours the Postcrete in, and the other mixes it thoroughly, and we do the same for the other 2/3rds. At least we can be sure that it's all completely mixed. Good work doing that all on your own though 👍🏼
Thanks you 👍🏽
Does it have waterproof properties?
The product I used does, but check the manufacturer instructions and guidelines before using.
Good demo. I bought one for felling some trees at the end of the garden, then cutting them up into useable / manageable sizes. If doing this sort of work though, I recommend a steel mesh visor with ear protectors, hard hat, HD Gloves AND BE VERY CAREFULL WITH THE CABLE. I cut through one when I was getting trigger happy towards the end of a long day. No harm done (except to the cable) as the saw just cut out, but better to be safe than sorry. Also for felling trees you need to cut V-shaped notches about a third of the way through on the side you want it to fall to, then cut from other side. BE SAFE. TREES ARE HEAVY.
Huge help. Thank you!
Your welcome 😉
American accent was golden 😂😂
Top job 👍 iv got a tiny 1M x 7M strip to do so the hand whacker is a great idea. Kiln sand is new to me but looks like a good idea for the small amount £ Cheers
How often did you place the shrinkage brackets?
Why we have to put sand on top of artificial grass?? I am asking as I am trying to put artificial grass in my garden. At the moment I am trying to remove the real grass so I have work to do.I found your video very helpful but I didnt know about the sand in the end.
It’s just something I’ve seen others do, I think it helps with drainage, it also keeps the grass upright and stops it laying flat. That’s what I’ve noticed anyway👍🏼
Can you tell us the size of the cabin and the cost for all the insulation and wood please
So helpful, and the "ker-niff" bit made me laugh! 👍
Glad you liked it!
God bless gas powered chainsaws !!!
Indeed , an it’s petrol ⛽️
What was the sealant you used
Adflex
Did you use a knotting agent? Looks like they are bleeding through?
Didn’t use any and I’ve not noticed any bleeding through 👍🏽
Hi Tom I will be doing the same insulation as you after watching your video. How is the insulation with the heat in the winter ?
Still needs a heater in there for when it gets cold, I think in any building you need a significant amount of insulation for it to actually make a difference, for the money and the purpose of the building it’s done just fine
Using a level for tampering…… hope it’s a cheap shite one. 😂😂😂
Hello, we are up to putting roof felt on - the info leaflet says to nail the felt on but I think nailing into waterproofing seems counterproductive - how did yours fare with just the under bits nailed? Thank you, great video and I am off to buy sticky stuff as ours only came with two tubes.
It’s been great no issues at all, using the felt adhesive has worked great so far 👍
tom wear a dustmask PPE to be safe mate !!!!
Love your work
Interesting. But what about the movement of the cabin itself? Apparently the logs can expand or contract and worst case gaps can open up between the logs. I notice you've secured the studding with L brackets. Can you advise on the above as I'm considering buying a log cabin and wondered about insulation.
Hi, as you noticed I did use some brackets to secure the studs to the walls and yes it will expand and contract, I was surprised as to how much it did expand over the winter. The brackets used can be found in wickes product number 246005 they worked great. I secured them to the stud with the slot going vertical, I then secured the bracket to the main walls of the cabin with a screw in the centre of the slot, I didn’t tighten the screw fully so it could move inside the slot when the walls expand and contract. It’s worked great and I’ve had no cracks at all in the plaster. I’ll do a video explaining what I did as I’ve been asked a few times now, I’ll also do a video on the expansion during the winter months. I also used plastic cladding on the ceiling which isn’t directly attached to the walls to allow the ceiling to move up and down with the expansion of the building. Hope this helped 👍
Folks use far too much water with this gear. It’ll hold a post but it’s not solid when set. Soft. Better with foam 😮😂😂
I always drop a few plums (stones) in the hole. It takes up some space and helps secure the post while pouring in the postcrete. It also saves on the postcrete, thereby getting two posts to a bag of postcrete.
When using the file guide sharpen all the teeth both sides, then take the file out of the guide and free hand run it through the gullet of the tooth. File the rackers. Thank me later.
If you use the right size file, it will get the gullet regardless.
Nice little makeover you've got done there., Always work away from the wire (e.g start at the front of the strip and work back to the water butt). Camera work might be tricky but better than being zapped :)
You really don’t want to throw the gloves away. It’s volatile when it’s in its drying state. Avoid contact with bare skin.
Great tutorial. Like that you can skip and jump to next segment.
garden shades is rubbish, gets sun faded in 2 years
Yep, after a year on the garden room where it’s exposed to the elements it’s not weathering very well, the ducks back is much better
Hi have you tried it with builders dust/rubble does it retain the dust or blow/leak it out? Have had a cheaper Titan before but it could not handle dust from a renovation without spraying it back out into the room in a mist😮
It seems to stand up well, I think if you keep an eye on the bag and filter then it should be ok, I had a cheap hoover from wickes that blew it back out but this didn’t have the bag inside
I’ve just laid 3.3 cubit meters of concrete for £560 including VAT. Prices must’ve come down thankfully!! 😀👍🏻
I laid the same cubic meters 2 years prior to this slab and it was half the price, hopefully things will be on the way down👍
Nice job mate, what mm grass was that you went for? Still doing the price video? Cheers
Thanks, the grass is 35mm and I got it from grass 24/7, I’ll be doing a pricing video soon, thanks 👍🏽
He was probably raging at the person being super slow and said they were being dramatic
Thanks Tom. Im going to use your technique. My posts are 8ft 4x4. How many feet under ground should it go? Thanks
I went 600mm deep but my post were 9ft, i probably went a little too deep for what it is. Good luck 🤞
Ho much postcreate was used some say 1.5 bags a post
@jonyG1991 I used 2 bags per post, the size and use of the post might determine how much you use, I think you could get away with 1.5 bags as the posts I put in are solid. Thanks
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video! Up or Down is long or short of the fairway.
👍
👍
Did you use 2 bags for per hole?
What length posts and how deep did you sink em?
9ft posts and I went approximately 2ft deep
Got that sail over my hot tub and it's a pain in the arse . As soon as it rains it looks like a huge bollock when its full of water . Even on an angle it still collects so I might change to solid wood so I can use the tub whenever . Got the lights too
🤣 now I’ve got 2 fitted when it rains it looks like a pair of tits
