My last fishing trip (actually at Juno too) was a very strange thing. There were a decent amount of guys out on the pier fishing specifically for snook, but they were completely ignoring the bait. Meanwhile, I hooked one (on 14lb test) and It unraveled right above my hook. I was using cut mullet and everyone else was using live baitfish.
This is an excellent video. You did a great job sharing your knowledge and adding in some B-roll.. I need to get some of those Hoggy swimbaits. They look really good.
Thank you so much for making this ive lived in Florida my whole life and can catch just about every type of fish in the sea and pond but ive never really been able to successfully catch snook when i go looking for them
fish the passes in summer with 25-30lb flouro leader 10-15lb braid and a 3" slayer inc swimbait (or a doa cal swimbait) in a natural color with a 1/16-1/4 oz jighead depending on depth i usually go with 1/8-1/4 because heavy current in passes but another tip is to get one natural color like white or white and greenback or silver black back and get one in a different color i love purple swimbaits especially for pressured snook because most of them probably never seen a purple lure and purple is good for immitating pinfish
@@tylershaffer4287 thanks bro for the tip .ill check out the lures set up i normally aready fish 15 pound braid with 20 pound flouro leader but i haven't tried those lures yet. ill try them out
they can be tough especially the ones that are 30"+ but getting the schoolys that are 15-26" arent bad usaully if you arnt catching any either they arnt there, not using the right lure/bait, or they are very pressured (like piers). i never fish piers for snook because of that reason plus all the people and googans around asking for fish i catch to keep (im a sport fisherman so im 95% catch and release) so i dont give fish away it feels good to see a fish safely caught and swim off healthy but i live on the sw coast of florida and i can normally go to a pass and catch up to 10 snook in a couple hours on artificial or live bait sure they are mainly 3-6 lbers but theyre a blast on a med light rod or a flyrodb
@@tylershaffer4287 I caught a 43 inch 35/40 lbs in November my pb by far after that I been catching 28/30s easy at this new spot in marina mile live pilchards or mullet is a game changer
Thank you for actually talking about how to catch snook and going straight to the point. Most videos out there titled "how to catch snook" are just dudes talking bs and cutting to a shot of then catching a few snook but teaching nothing.
Kinda surprised you didn’t mention Pinfish as a Snook bait. They’re generally available in bait shops, they rarely get stolen, and they’re Snook Candy!
I just goy a set of Zara Spook Junior lures as a stocking stuffer for my son in law who lives along a canal in Florida. There are plenty of snook but also a lot of catfish that are pests. I suspect that the surface lure will lessen the chances of a catfish strike.
Great vid. Good information for beginners. Instead of listing all of the places that snook like to hang around you could have just said pretty much any habitat on the shoreline of west coast Florida. Lol right now they're everywhere
The trough is a small dip in the beach where bait fish will stage up in. Snook will tend to be in that trough eating bait fish. The best way to fish it is cast at an angle in the beach in that way your bait is sitting in the strike zone for a longer amount of time
I hooked into 3 snook since last Thursday, each time the line snapped, 1 because it was a 10 lb snook on 12 lb test, the the others because the drag was too high
You should definitely beef the tackle up. If you are in open water I’d go 20-30lb braid if you are around tight structure 40-50lb braid is ideal. For leader I’d go with a 40-60lb mono leader.
Holy shit I’m late to this video and a new subscriber! But bro I live in Tampa fl and I recently bought a a boat. 16.2 inshore flats if you’re ever in the area hit me up for sure we can go out and fish I still haven’t been able to hook up to any decent size snook.
Supreme Fishing yep got it for next time which I doubt I'll ever see a 35 inch snook in my backyard canal again lol😅 this rain really stirred up the fish lately, I even saw some far which I rarely ever see.
Thank u for making this video, i really needed it to be able to learn how to catch them, and im only 12. so u just got a new subscriber bro!
GREAT informative video! Now it's time to put all this into practice! Thanks!
Great video bro

Couldn’t mention all but yes that’s definitely a go to for snook.
Just caught one yesterday on a pin fish.
I caught 2 in 1 day today in Florida in englewood I also caught a redfish and a trout
What reel is that at 1:00? I’ve been looking for a good bait caster to use for inshore but mainly snook fishing

I catch snook on dead mullet and snapper chunks in juno peer and lures at the beach
Nice video, I definitely enjoyed it and was happy you knew what you were talking about! Got yourself a new sub! 👍

Caught my first snook today with my dad and it was the best
Great video! Thanks! I’ve caught one tiny snook, likely by luck. Hopefully this will help!
No problem!

Amazing video. I caught a snook last night after watching ypur video. Thanks man. Tightlines.
Thanks glad to hear!
Can someone explain to me how to fish the trough on the beach
The trough is a small dip in the beach where bait fish will stage up in. Snook will tend to be in that trough eating bait fish. The best way to fish it is cast at an angle in the beach in that way your bait is sitting in the strike zone for a longer amount of time
Supreme Fishing But how do you know where the trough is? Because when I’m at the beach I normally don’t see a dip. Please and thank you
U could throw casnet?

Thanks man, needed that I lost my mullet lure to a 7lb snook today
Np
I don’t really know what lure it was but it was plastic green, and like 2 or 3 inches so it was a small one
I lost it at the irrigation system by the canal by biscayne national park
Great vid man!
Thanks
Yo u just gotta new sub bro love u!😁

Do you think that snook are good fighters?

I use bread balls. Secret weapon

Bread balls catch everything. Well maybe not sharks but most fish.

Yes definitely a key spot for catching snook
Gud video

I went canal fishing this morning and saw a giant snook but i spooked it
Ya gotta be stealthy with these fish. They spook easily.
Supreme Fishing yep got it for next time which I doubt I'll ever see a 35 inch snook in my backyard canal again lol😅 this rain really stirred up the fish lately, I even saw some far which I rarely ever see.
Rain always gets them flared.
