That dead bait comment is so true. Me and a buddy are fishing live pilchers next to a guide and his guest. We get one hit by maybe a 25 inch snook, in about an hour. He lands 4: 35 inch+ snook, using fresh cut mullet heads. I never would have believed it, if I hadn't seen it.🙂
My first snook came on January 6th this year in shallow warm water as you explained when discussing their winter behavior. I just got a job in the Tampa area (I'm from PA) and will be looking a lot at this series. Hugely appreciated, sure to shorten the learning curve substantially.
Cought my first snook ever yesterday by the skyway bridge rest stop on the incoming tide in the shallows on a $2.50 Walmart bottom shelf bomber lure . Awesome fighting fish . I'm from Tennessee and your videos are great for tips and tricks to catching fish here locally . Keep up the great work and awesome advice man 👌👊💪
I have been fishing for Snook for 45 years in the Hillsborough River my best bait always been Creek Chubb redhead about 4 in. Never had a problem with them can't find them anymore hard to find but when I do I buy 10 at a time. I've been fishing to Hillsborough River so long it's just unbelievable.

Great video! I opt for a 3000 stradic for lures but for live bait I've been using a 5000 spheros, small enough for lil guys but some power if the big boys play. Wanted a saragosa, settled on spheros and it's been awesome. Gosa someday...

I'd recommend the Safety Harbor Pier and that surrounding area. There's a lot of grass flats and mangroves around there that hold some big snook and reds
Dude..good video..but you don’t need a saragosa 8000..AT all to catch 35 plus..I caught my pb 40 on the cheapest reel I own(penn pursuit 2500)...could’ve used the battle 4000, spinfisher v 4500, ..battle 3..5k.(have the older 8k sustain, and the 6500 baitrunner, so I do like shimano)I fish fl too, and I can tell you ..you don’t really need anything bigger than a 3 possibly 4 to catch these beasts, especially from a boat my friend, much more advantage..good vid young man, I’ve learned a few things from u
ahh tailwater outfitters, your in the tampa bay area then most likely i work at a bait&tackle store in holiday, right now im using a daiwa ballistic 5000 on a 7 foot MH-F bull bay sniper 8-17# rod for my inshore snookers and red fishing, i used to fish exclusively st croix rods but after discovering bull bay rods i'm never using any other companies rods these bull bay rods (in my opinion) are under priced pretty damn well, theyre made right here in lakeland fl and u get a lifetime warranty. (BUY BULL BAY!)
Brett great info. I have a question about this time of year. I been fishing a small bridge at a edge of a flat and mouth of small river.they seemed to moved would those snook move up the river and would they hold on another small bridge thats up river. Im land based
With the water cooling down quickly, the snook will most likely move up the river for the warmer water. If you can find structure (like that small bridge) further up the river you'll probably find those fish there
When you get settled into your new place send me a message. I will put you on some big Snook. Next month is PB month. December I need Snook over 44 inches to close out the year. I hooked two this November that ate my lunch.
Lure color mostly depends on water clarity. If the water is clear, I would fish a more natural color made to look like a baitfish or shrimp. If the water is dirty, fish darker lures or ones with attention grabbing colors to help the fish spot them. I'm not familiar with water conditions around Fort Myers, but judge the clarity to determine what colors to throw
Yo man I’m trying to knock off every species on my list got a few just need the snook and a few others until I’m able to get out on the water wether it’s a kayak or boat, stuck on the bank for now where would u recommend me going to target snook

Great question Lauren Schirmer! Usually in the winter snook are more sluggish because of the cooler water temps and less likely to hit a topwater lure, like the badonkadonk. But maybe later in the day, when the water has had time to warm up upstream, the fish would be more aggressive and willing to hit a topwater
I fish up by anclote a lot too, lots of good fish around the power plant. You should try down by Tampa though, once you get it dialed in you’ll catch some really good fish
Yes it does, but it more so affects where I will be fishing. If it's a sunny day, I'm more likely to go fishing in the creek/river systems or mangrove estuaries and try to sight fish these snook. I would then use either live bait or a subtle lure like a DOA Shrimp to try not to spook them. On a cloudy day, I would fish the docks in residential canals and use a more aggressive lure like the DOA C.A.L. to try and cover some area to find the fish
on sunny days using somthing with some reflective material gives it alot of flash in the water. On cloudy days somthing that looks more natural is a better idea

I personally don't use or own any baitcaster reels, but they would make a great choice for catching snook. Of course you'd have to match the size of the reel to the size snook you're targeting. Thanks for pointing this out, I'll make sure to include baitcaster setups in upcoming videos

I just caught two 35 inchers and one 37 incher last week
And one slot 30 incher north of anclote. Snook are on a feeding frenzy. Nice and fat compared to a year ago.
