    • @Thonny

      Caleb Anderson 8000 size reel and an extra heavy 8ft rod! 50-100lb or more.

      @Thonny  4 года назад +1

      Caleb Anderson conventional is gonna be better than spinning since you can gain more line faster with a conventional reel

      It seems you're using VMC's 7266, I was initially employing them as well until noticing that I was losing to many already hooked fishes, during the fight.
      Nowadays I've switched to VMC 7237 and Mustad Kaiju and this problem has disappeared. Didn't you face this issue as well?

      It will depend on where you’re gonna be targeting them. What you are gonna be using more of live bait or artificial lures?

    • @kristopherturner3016
      @kristopherturner3016 2 года назад +1

      I'm on the treasure coast of Florida more or less it will most likely be bridges, jetties, and inlet I read they can be caught from the beaches too as for live or lure I'm a lure man myself

    • @Thonny
      @Thonny  2 года назад +1

      @@kristopherturner3016 I personally would go with a 6k reel Penn or Shimano 40lb braid 50lb or 60lb leader material. For the rod I’d look into a st croix avid 8ft heavy 17-40. Powerhouse combo to throw 1oz-2oz jigs, yet still light for what it is especially if you go with a 6k Shimano Saragosa

      @@Thonny You don't need a 6k reel and a St croix Rod. 3k or 4k reel with 15-20lb braid is absolutely fine. I've caught large snook on a 3k EASY! I prefer a 7'6" medium heavy rod. Great cast distance for lure or live bait. Strong backbone for snook and red fish.

    • @Thonny
      @Thonny  4 года назад +1

      Salty Lunkers medium heavy to heavy action rod. It depends on where you’re fishing for them. If you’re fishing structure then go with medium heavy to heavy. If you’re fishing the flats for them you can even go as light as 7’ medium action and a 2500 size reel. As far as live bait. They like greenbacks, shrimp, mullet, mojarra, WHOLE ladyfish. Big snook will swallow while ladyfish and lizard fish. Also, cut bait!!
