    The old guy who is the father of the twins and the girl, was also once the Sith Emperor, Darth Vitiate. A long time ago he lured every surviving Sith Lord to a planet called Nathema after the sith had nearly been wiped out in a war with the Jedi, he then proceeded to do a ritual sacrifice which drained the life from all the remaining sith and the planet itself. The ritual made him essentially immortal by giving him the power to split his consciousness and takeover new host bodies like a parasite.
    He eventually traveled outside the known galaxy and found a planet called Zakuul, while he was there he took over the body of a famous warrior named Valkorian (the form you see him in during the trailer) and used his identity to become ruler of the planet and found a new empire which he named the Eternal Empire.
    He wanted to achieve absolute immortality so he used the Sith Empire to wage a war against the republic and planned to use the war to do another sacrifice like he had before, but on a much larger scale.
    Afterwards he was going to use the Eternal Empire to sweep in and destroy both the Sith and Republic and remake the galaxy in his image with him ruling as an immortal god emperor.
    So yeah the dude’s a complete lunatic who had been secretly manipulating events in the galaxy for over 1,000 years while living like a parasite jumping body to body to stay alive.

      @@evanflynn4680 nonsense, f.e. Inquisitors are recruited from Slaves, they are "free" (if they survive the Academy).
      it is possible for individuals to be elevated from being a slave, which is simply the lowest caste of Imperial society, should they show strength and ability that would better serve the Empire in a more distinguished role (like the already mentioned inquisitors).

    • @evanflynn4680
      @evanflynn4680 3 года назад +16

      @@raistormrs true, but that was after the war with the Republic had gone on for years. When Malgus killed his slave, slaves couldn't be free, nor could they become Sith. The restriction on slaves not being allowed to become Sith was lifted shortly after the sacking of Coruscant, but the restriction on slaves being freed based on merit was only lifted after the Outlander was captured by Arcann (avoiding spoilers as much as possible here). So at the time, Malgus had killed his slave lover, not his wife. I've read the Revan novel that fills the gaps between the games KOTOR 1&2, and SWTOR. Have also read Deceived by Paul S Kemp, which is about the events directly after the Sacking of Coruscant. The Sith hadn't changed the rules until shortly after that event, so slaves with force potential weren't trained to become Sith, which Malgus' Twi'Lek slave didn't have anyway.

    I’m very late but the reason the girl with the double bladed lightsaber (Satele Shan) can block the lightsaber strike is a skill called tutaminis, or more commonly known as Force Absorption. This is the same skill that Yoda used to absorb Dooku’s lightning and Sidious’ lightning too. The Ancient Jedi and Sith had better access to force abilities and thus mastered the force much faster and more eloquently.

    For context in case you were confused. The reason why the attack on the Jedi Temple and Coruscant seemed to go so smoothly was because there was a peace talk taking place at the time. The Empire and the Republic were at the table talking. So the majority of the fleet, the army and the most powerful Jedi were at the peace summit with the Empire. Meanwhile Darth Malgus led a fleet to attack the vulnerable Coruscant and the Jedi Temple. This is actually a backstory for why the Jedi are not on Coruscant in the game because the temple is still wrecked.

    The story is a little convoluted, but the father in the last two is also the Emperor of the Sith Empire. He considered the Sith Empire a failed experiment and decided to try something new by working on a second empire behind the scenes known as the The Eternal Empire. He found a way to live for thousands of years by body hopping, so he has a lot of experience. Once he felt his second empire was ready, he went in and took over the Galaxy until the hero (character you play that could either be from the Republic or the Sith Empire) stops him and his children and frees the galaxy from the Eternal Empire.

      @TricksJD 3 года назад

      @Lokabrenna Not to quibble, but while you are correct, Yanuel is also correct. Originally Knights of the Old Republic was set 2000 years before the movies. If you look at any of the original cover arts for KotOR you'll see in the description on the backside that it says "2000 years before the movies blah blah Revan blah blah." I'm paraphrasing but you get my point. Then at some point, either when KotOR 2 launched or during SWTOR's development, they retconned the time the games take place before the movies to be set 4000 years before Luke Skywalker and everything else, and SWTOR kept that retcon and continues 300 years from where KotOR 2 left off. Luckily the original 2 games don't mention the year or age in the games themselves, at least I never saw a calendar when I played way back when, so the retcon doesn't really affect anything but if someone mentions 2000 years it probably because they only played KotOR 1.

    This whole series takes place before the sith became just two, The master and student. The emperor is Tenebrae who became Vitiate then reborn as the younger body Valkorion. he manages to find a way to literally constantly get new bodies and control them via a sith spirit transfer technique. He start the entire war with the Vitiate body just to show the jedi he was coming. The sith invade republic space starting with the battle of Korriban. Malgus slays the Jedi battlemaster Kao Cen Darach in combat while future grandmaster Satele Shan here just a padawan gets away to warn the republic. Malgus in a opportunity kills his master Vindican to raise his rank to sith lord. fast forward 14 years later to the Battle of Alderaan The republic was seriously losing ground to the sith at this point and was on the verge of collapse. Captain Jace Malcom took whatever platoons he could and headed for the planet desperate to save the planet but when he got there the royal family was already in chains and the planetary guards decimated. He immediately launched surprise attacks on the sith but didn't do much. The republic still stuck on what to do pretty much gave up on the planet. Satele Shan having heard enough got five jedi and got on the planet. The duel between her and malgus happened and Shan finally won but Malgus survived and killed two Jedi on his retreat off planet. The depleted republic forces finally breached the palace a few days later finally freeing the royal family. More republic vessels arrived in system to drive away the sith and rather than fight they grabbed their forces and retreated. The victory brought with it a full military stance for Alderaan and finally was the kick in the butt that the Republic needed to get into the war in earnest. Shan was reprimanded for her actions but she was allowed a military role as commander. The third video is of the sacking of courasant which malgus undertook himself. The battle was raging but the sith got nothing out of it as it was simply a show of force. That's because a peace conference happened at that exact time and everyone signing a treaty that the sith would be recognized as it's own territory and real hostilities would cease. Malgus was seriously mad but could do anything so he resigned himself to patrol duty on the borders. This wasn't the end though as it turned into a cold war. the jedi would clash with sith occasionally on border planets as duels with no one really dying but tensions were high. the last three were of vitiate returning and his story.

    The tattoos that the girl had ARE in fact related to the tattoos of the red skinned Sith lady. These sort of tattoos are non-surprisingly referred to as “Sith tattoos”, and are normally obtained when a Sith apprentice accomplishes a trail of great significance such as; killing their first Jedi or showing great power and understanding of the dark side. Darth Maul is a good example of this. Maul received his full-body Sith tattoos in a tortuous ritual carried out by his master, Darth Sidious. Sidious purposely applied these tattoos slowly and painfully which only fuelled Maul’s hatred; further cementing him in the dark side. These “Sith tattoos” symbolize one’s devotion to the dark side as well serving as a right of passage for Sith apprentices. A constant reminder of pain and servitude, these tattoos are forever bound to one’s body just as a Sith is forever bound to the dark side of the force.

    Having played the game and still do. Veylin was conditioned by her father because her power was far too great. Arkan the brother who killed his twin does end up being on the light side of the force and helps in taking down Veylin and their father alongside his mother. The mother wasn't banished, Veylin was simply taken to a place called Nathema and the tattoos are a link to Veylin's conditioning.

    The daughter in the last trailer, Vaylin, is the most deadly and fearful enemy I ever faced. She has more power in the force than any other, but she wouldn't control it very well and she was unhinged psychologically to boot. Such a bad (good) combination of raw uncontrolled power.

Before this came out I played Star Wars Galaxies for 8 years(played a smuggler), I played this day 1, when it came out(which was not long after they closed down SWG). Over the years, it has become super easy to play and less challenging. But loved watching your reaction to this game. Revan: jedi knight who went to war in the mandalorian wars defying the jedi counsels decision to not be involved. He was corrupted along with a close friend and became Darth Revan. Years later he was captured and had his memories wiped and believed he was a soldier till all his memories started to bubble back. He regained his memories and fought his old apprentice and defeated him, saving the Galactic Republic. Revan continued to get flashbacks and left his pregnant wife, Bastila Shan, in search of what his memories mean. Revan was captured by the sith emperor vitiate and was tortured for 300 years until he was freed.
      Bastila Shan is a jedi knight who was part of the strike team to capture Darth Revan. Bastila was extremely important to the jedi because she had mastered a ability called Battle Meditation, the ability to manipulate the flows of battle. Bastila saved Revan from death and was in charge of him after his memories were wiped. She also created a force bond with revan, so she was able to she his thoughts as well as he. She saved revan again by giving him time to escape his old apprentice. She was captured and turned to the dark side and used her abilities to give the Sith a advantage in the war. Revan came back and turned her away from the dark side. Later one Revan and Bastila married and left the jedi order together.

    As for the father, his name is Valkorion, who was acting as a host body for the Sith Emperor Vitiate (Vitiate had the ability to take over new bodies after his current one died off/was killed). Valkorion was the leader of a third faction called the Eternal Empire, (aka the Empire of Zakuul) which was neither sith nor Jedi. Rather, their force users were known as the Knights of Zakuul. The Eternal fleet was supposedly unstoppable, and proved to be so strong that the Jedi and Sith had to form a temporary truce and join forces to stop the Eternal Empire.
    The two sons, Arcann (white clothing) and Thexan (black clothing) were the children of Valkorion and Senya (the mother in this trailer). They were the ones spearheading Valkorions conquests. In "Sacrifice" Valkorion only began to acknowledge Arcann after he killed Thexan because he had made the ultimate sacrifice; killing his brother. In the beginning of that trailer, that was one of the first things that Valkorion narrated, that a man can have anything as long as he is willing to sacrifice for it.
    In this trailer, Vaylin is the younger sister of Arcann and Thexan. Upon birth, Valkorion knew that she was immensely powerful, and therefore she was not allowed to use the force out of fear that she would not control it, and might even one day challenge Valkorion. This is why she was sent away after killing the Knights of Zakuul in the pit; between her power and mental instability, Valkorion sent her away to have her power controlled. This involved lots of mental and physical torture, to the point where Vaylin was broken and no longer had empathy for others. Eventually she blamed her torture and suffering on her mother, which is why she turned on her.

In Canon, Revan and his wife are probably the two closest people have come to killing him that I'm aware of and they still had to retreat. To put that into context, the two strongest and diverse force users of their era and it wasn't even close who have played in both sides of the force still couldn't kill the emperor.

    It's amazing that Bioware made a 5 minute video DO what Disney couldn't do in 3 feature length films. It made you connect with the sister, see her grow up, then feel bad when she "falls," to the dark side. Bioware trailers are always done very well. Hopefully someone has told you to react to Biowares other game Starcraft as those trailers are also very well done. If no one has I suggest Starcraft 2 cinematic trailers- "Heart of the Swarm," And then "Legacy of the Void," in that order.
    Also little tidbit to get you even more mad at the first bald guy in the earlier trailers..his name is Darth Malgus, he's a bad guy of course. In the last trailer of his when the ship hits the builiding. The blue woman is his girlfriend which is why she's with him. He loves her and always kept her close to protect her, well to get stronger he has to get angry so he is forced to kill her so he has no attachments anymore.

      @@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Starcraft 2 was made in 3 parts starting with "Wings of Liberty," then "Heart of the Swarm," and finally "Legacy of the Void." So if you want to see them in order you would start with "wings of liberty."
      Starcraft 2 in a nutshell to help you understand without spoiling anything is as follows= Advanced aliens created life called the Protoss (it's the super advanced looking guys). Protoss saw the aliens as gods and worshiped them, fast forward and the Protoss get angry at aliens and start fighting with them. Aliens leave and create new life called the Zerg (the bug looking ones). Zerg gets out of control and supposedly kills the aliens that made them. Protoss get angry and want to kill the Zerg. Humans start colonizing planets and land on a planet that had Zerg on it. Protoss notice and just burn the whole world to kill the Zerg but also kill the Humans. Humans angry now want to kill everyone. An then we get into the story the games follow. Hope it helps.

    I'm super late to the party here, but love your reactions and so glad you reacted to these trailers as this is my favorite time period of Star Wars! The game takes place around 3600 years before the movies, and 300 years after the original Knights of the Old Republic game. The Jedi woman from both trailer 1 and 2 is Satele Shan, who is the descendant of Revan and Bastila Shan from the original game. (She also has a son with the trooper Jace Malcolm from trailer 1 and 2). The Sith Lord from the first 3 trailers is Darth Malgus. The last 2 trailers center around the same family, from a 3rd faction called Zakuul that conquers both the Republic and the Empire. The father is Valkorian who is actually the Sith Emperor in another body. He has twin sons Arcann (white outfit) and Thexan (black outfit) with the mother shown in the last trailer, Senya. They also have a daughter Vaylin together seen in the last trailer. Vaylin has tremendous power and Valkorian has her confined to the sanitorium to be conditioned and she turns into a psycho who hates her mother. I feel very bad for Senya as one of her sons murdered the other and fell to the dark side, and her daughter went insane and committed horrible acts.

    I love that they had Jen Hale do the voice of Satele Shan. She was the VA for the Jedi Sentinel Bastila Shan in Knights of the Old Republic, a single player RPG game set years before this one. Satele is a descendant of Bastila and Darth Revan :D
    Additionally, the Jedi of the Old Republic are far more powerful than those pictured in the Skywalker saga, because Darth Sidious was weakening their ability to use the Force by sowing fear and hatred throughout the galaxy via the Clone Wars.
    These cinematics are 1000x better than anything Disney has put out.

    I do appreciate that you guys didn't talk and ignore half the trailers like a lot of people do. On the other hand you guys also don't seem to "react" much either, didn't see much emotion until the last one. These are some of the best Star Wars trailers there are. It would be cooler to see more of a reaction. The fun videos to watch are the one's where people really get into them.

    • @DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames

      Fair enough. ☺️ Some reactions of ours are bigger than others and most are more subtle than many of the reactors out there. We don’t talk much through the trailers as we are watching them for the first time and don’t want to miss anything important. 😊 Our style definitely isn’t for everyone but we’d rather have an authentic non reaction than a forced one 🤗 We appreciate your constructive criticism though because some people just put Fake Reaction or something if they don’t care for the reaction. 🙃

    A Note to 10:40 where she is blocking the saber with bare hands: Satele is using a force abillity named Tutaminis. When this power is mastered, it allows to transform energie (Blastershots, heat, lightsaber) into force energie. That`s why she is able to block the sword with bare hands and this is why her force push afterwards is so mighty that it destroys the half mountain behind Darth Malgus... She absorbed the energie of the light saber and is able to use it afterwards

      @@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The Old Republic is a different time in Star Wars, but many themes carry over from the films. The Empire is evil, but they are driven by vengeance. SWTOR also has something called SWTOR timelines which can be found on RUclips, they add alot of context to the setting, not really related the the last two trailers as that is relatively recent content for the game. unfortunately the second and third trailer used to have far superior dialogue, it actually tied into the name of the cinematic such as Hope for the second and Deceived for the third. It used to lay out that Hope took place on Alderaan and really showed what was lost when the Empire blew it up 3800 years later. Deceived was all about how one should not allow being in power to blind you to foes that encircle you.

    EA has completely destroyed this game for money, but it was such an amazing game. You could play as either Republic or Empire and everything from a Jedi or Sith to a bounty hunter or even an Empire secret agent. Each character class had its own story. The stories are super fun and well written. And every single NPC is completely voiced. You could really immerse yourself in the star wars universe. It was my absolute favorite game. I sunk so many hours into it and played every class to endgame. Watching these cinematics makes me want to go back and play through them again.
