31:50 Just noticed, she used what's known as "Tràkata", Tràkata was a form of lightsaber combat developed for taking advantage of a lightsaber's ability to be turned on and off, a unique quality in a melee weapon. This method was greatly frowned upon, and was almost never used by either the Sith or the Jedi. The Sith claimed that it showed weakness and demonstrated a lack of power, while the Jedi claimed that this form was unsportsmanlike.
No, she did not. She just used the other person's Saber against another. She never turned hers off and turned it on to kill someone. The form is also turning your Saber off before clashing with another Saber and then turning it back on to kill the person. The jedi master who duel welded 2 sabers to fight malgus and his faster didn't use it either. He turned it off and dodged an attack, and he only turned it back on to injure the sith master
I will never not appreciate the fact that both the Sith and the Jedi saw this technique and as a collective decided that it was a dick move and chose not to use it at all
Just wanna point out real quick that when dude ran up with a knife, it was actually made with a mineral called cortosis which is resistant to lightsabers. A pure cortosis blade can actually overload a lightsabers power emitter and shut it off

TOR (the old republic), is set roughly around 3660 years before the movies. This is an entirely different timeline and therefore is entirely detached from the movies, both lore-wise and plot-wise if you get what I mean. They needed wiggleroom to make a game as big as this and considering the old Kotor (knights of the old republic) games existed Kotor 3 became SWTOR, an mmo, kinda like WoW. The twins are part of a cool (meh executed tho) expansion and the yellow saber kinda means “fight/servitude for reward” in this circumstance, however yellow has another more cannon meaning.
I remember seeing some of these as a little kid lol and I thought the game was actually like this. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined 💀
Satele Shan, she is like the granddaughter or whatever of Revan and Bastila Shan. She is super strong in force and really good fighter. After all, she's a Shan, that name means something. In galactic Republic era Jarik Shan is a last living descendant of J.K. Revan and Bastila Shan. He was trained by Quai gon and fought alongside Ahsoka and Anakin.
I've never understood why they have never tried this realistic animation style for a show or movie, when it's done right it's better than live action IMO. As different as the game is from the trailers if you like star wars and story driven games it's def worth a shot, especially if you crave more gritty dark star wars. Never liked MMO's or their gameplay but the story was beyond good enough to make me not care. I was genuinely shocked how great the Sith Warrior, Jedi Knight, and Imperial Agent stories were.
Ion care what anyone says, for me SWTOR will always be my favorite video game of all time. Been playing on off since 2012. If you’re a big fan of Star Wars it’s truly an experience
Fun fact: After Malgus was buried under that mountain of rubble at the end of the Hope trailer, before receiving the surgery and implants that would save his life, he encountered two Jedi knights _and bested them!_ Think Darth Vader, except increase the speed and give him Force Lightning. That's Darth Malgus, impossibly tough, highly skilled and fully committed to the idea of the Dark Side itself, so much so that he went against his own Empire.
19:44 "How is this guy still alive?!" In short... Malgus is too angry and determined to die. Dude might be one of the most awesome and badass sith ever conceived. EDIT: About the fourth trailer, the one with the twins. That was for an expansion to the game that introduced a new enemy in the form of the Empire of Zakuul. In addition to having some wicked technology and a legion of force-users (Those gold-armored guys) that don't bother with the whole "light and dark" crap and harness the Force as a whole. Though as powerful as this Empire was, they were kinda punks. Basically the Zakuul Empire sucker-punched the Sith Empire and Republic while they were distracted with each other and owed much of their success to a fleet of hyper-advanced warships that they didn't even make (It's a long story and I honestly don't have the details down enough to explain it properly).
The one thing that never gets old watching these people watch SWTOR cinematics is watching them go "Oh shit!" watching Kao Cen Darach toss his lightsaber at Malgus to save Satele, knowing damn well that Vindican would duck instead of block.
I honestly prefer the Old Republic ways of the Sith compared to what Bane did. Sure, there was a bunch of infighting and shit in the old ways. I just think the idea of just having literal thousands upon thousands of Sith is way cooler than with just only two.

I doubt he’ll ever see this but the lore behind the older father that has the yellow sabers is that he was the original Emperor of the Sith that can body hop. The body that you currently see is the one he switches to after you kill him with your created Jedi Knight . Long story short his spirit gets resurrected and returns to the father that he secretly had been living in. He gathers his secret army and attack both the Galactic Empire (Sith) and Republic (Jedi).

Oh and he didn't steal Satele's lightsaber. In the background you can barely see her throwing it to him. Hard to see, thought like you did at first too.
Note: "BBY" stands for years Before the Battle of Yavin (the events of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope). *Return* Timeline: 3,681 BBY This cinematic depicts the return of the Sith Empire. Prior to this event, it was believed that the Sith Empire was eradicated in 5,000 BBY at the end of the Great Hyperspace War. At this point in time, the Sith were many, with there being hundreds or thousands at a time. Darth Bane's "Order of the Sith Lords" (or just "Sith Order") was not established until approximately 1,000 BBY. We also see an 18-year-old Satele Shan (descendant of Bastila Shan and Revan) and her master Kao Cen Darach (who is the same species as Darth Maul, but an Iridonian Zabrak instead of a Dathomirian Zabrak). Darth Malgus is human, but his master Darth Vindican is a Sith Pureblood (the species for which the Sith are named). *Hope* Timeline: 3,667 BBY This cinematic depicts the Battle of Alderaan (a Sith invasion intended to destroy the Republic's "symbol of serenity" to demoralize them). Satele Shan (now 32-years-old) is a Jedi Knight. And the abilities you see her using against Malgus are Tutaminis (the same ability Yoda used to absorb Palpatine's force lightning in the Senate Chambers, but MUCH more powerful) and Force Burst (basically a super-powered Force Push). 13:07 He was thinking Malgus could catch these hands. *Deceived* Timeline: 3,653 BBY This cinematic depicts the Sacking of Coruscant, a surprise attack on Coruscant during a false ceasefire after the Sith Empire offered to end the war peacefully. The blue-armored Mandalorian you see in this one is Shae Vizla (also known as Mandalore the Avenger). Her last name is NOT a misspelling of Vizsla. She is unrelated to Clan Vizsla. 20:35 That move Malgus did was DIRTY AF. Pretended to be stunned by that face-bash then immediately skewer him. *Sacrifice* Timeline: 3,636 BBY This one depicts the Eternal Empire, a third "Force Order" that is neither Jedi Order nor Sith Empire (but definitely dark side). They are led by Darth Vitiate/Emperor Valkorion, an immortal Sith. The two boys are his twin sons, Arcann (the one wearing white) and Thexan (the one wearing black). Short story about them: Basically, while the Sith Empire and the Jedi-backed Republic were fighting each other, the Eternal Empire came in and third-partied them both, basically conquering the whole galaxy for a time until everybody teamed up to destroy them, then went back to their own war. 26:10 A moment like this was supposed to happen in Revenge of the Sith. When Anakin is dismembered on the lava bed, his eyes are blue as he begs Obi-Wan for help one last time, but they fade to the blazing Sith red-orange-yellow as Anakin "dies" and Vader is truly "born." But it was cut. *Betrayed* Timeline: Around 3,630 BBY. Basically what's happening here is that Vaylin (who as you can see is the younger sister of Arcann and Thexan) was discovered to be immensely powerful (far more so than even Arcann, and potentially Valkorion himself), so Valkorion locked her away and tortured her to ensure she would never betray him (spoiler: she does, eventually, with Arcann's help). Also, the mother (Senya)'s weapon is a Lightsaber Pike (basically a lightsaber spear). Of course, it can also be detached from the stick and used normally. 28:20 A bit more elaboration: Objectively-speaking, the dark side is not "bad" and the light side is not "good." But because the Sith (bad) use exclusively the dark side, the dark side is labeled "bad" and opposite to the light because the Jedi (who oppose the Sith) are "good." In reality, there is *only* the force (this is also the viewpoint of "Gray Jedi"). But it is true that it easier to use the dark side since it requires no discipline and offers fast power, whereas the light requires years, if not decades of training to be "strong." 31:10 There is no real explanation for why the Eternal Empire's Sith used yellow-bladed lightsabers. Also, it's hard to see, but Senya actually carried *two* lightsabers on her (both blue-bladed). One is the lightsaber pike, which has the ability to extend the hilt into the pike length at any time. The other is a standard, single-bladed lightsaber. Also, the reason her lightsabers have blue blades is because she is a Knight of Zakuul. Zakuul Knights used blue blades (and the more powerful ones used orange. Seemingly, only royalty used yellow blades, such as Arcann, Thexan, and Vaylin). *Disorder* Timeline: 3,626 BBY This trailer was animated not by Blur Studios (who did all the previous trailers), but by ILM (Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects department of Lucasfilm). It is meant to show that even the Jedi are flawed individuals. 35:35 Not purple. Magenta (pink), like Mara Jade Skywalker's lightsaber. 37:26 This is NOT 100 years before Vader. This is 3,600 YEARS before Vader. 39:30 Believe it or not, but Malgus wasn't lying. Note: Satele Shan was promoted to Grand Master of the Jedi Order in 3,645 BBY, almost immediately after her promotion to Jedi Master.
I disagree with your point about there not being a "bad" and a "good" side of the force. Technically the light side is the natural side of the force, with the dark side being a corruption of the force. The dark side goes stricktly against the balance. The reason why we tend to think of the Gray Jedi to be the balanced ones is because the Gray Jedi are actually two different things. The first definition of a Gray Jedi is probably what you're refering to, which is someone who practices both the light side and the dark side. Even though these force-users should be the most balanced, they in reality most often turn to the dark side, because the dark side is nothing more than a perversion of the light side, and ends up corrupting them. The other definition is someone like Ahsoka Tano, who also gets called a gray jedi, or a "true" jedi. These people essentially believe in what the Jedi believed in their early days, which was keeping harmony in the force. This is also what the New Jedi Order believed in (at least in the beginning) after Luke Skywalker brought balance to the force (or debatedly Anakin did). The reason we tend to think of the Jedi Order under the republic time to be unbalanced is because they were, especially in their later years like in the clone wars. Instead of keeping harmony they had become militaristic elitist bureaucrats, with the best example being Mace Windu, who was a major supporter of jedi envolvement in the republic, and it's wars, and even developed (I know he didn't techinically create it, but he perfected it for Jedi use) a Form which used the dark side, all because he saw the force as a means of power, just like the sith, which reinforces the idea that ultimately, the dark side corrupts, either directly, or through thousands of years of militaristic culture.
@@phil385the unifying force philosophy; the force is the force and the darkside is the darkness in ones self, only amplified when channeled with the force.
@@phil385 Gray Jedi is and always has been fanon. Different interpretations of how the force works is seen in many cults, sects and individuals throughout Star Wars but its always been the Force and its cancerous dark side. Mace was definitely a clear example of how misguided the jedi became but he didnt view the force as a means of power or as some tool, that was how dark siders viewed it. Vapaad was his way of channeling his internal darkness into a force for good and is a very personal style that did not translate well when used by others considering how the co creator of the form fell to the darkside as well as his apprentice whom he taught it to.
Ngl alderaan trailer is so badass. the commander took that force lightning like a boss and then just took a grenadeblast to his face, like he is really selfless its crazy
About the yellow sabers: They’re used by Jedi Sentinels later in the future, but at this point in history they were used by the organization we see the twins working for and the father leading, called the “eternal empire”. They’re at war with both sith and Jedi, and so use a different color to differentiate themselves. Plus, they’re really into the gold aesthetic apparently
Everyone who told you the yellow sabers are guards are wrong. The only ones who used yellow sabers in the eternal empire are the ones within the royal circle! The twins (emperors sons) “11” (emperors daughter) If you notice the soldiers and the mother have blue sabers that’s because they are just members of the empire! So essentially the yellow sabers in that empire are rare!
I definitely think Dontai should check out the Assassin’s Creed cinematic trailers too. The newer games have some controversy around them, but the cinematics are still so great. If anything, I think he’d enjoy the cinematics from AC 2 up to Origins. The Revelations trailer is still undefeated today imo.
the symbolic contrast of the jedi apprentice giving her lightsaber to her master and the sith apprentice taking his master's is one of those small things that I appreciate...and I probably make it more important than it actually is.
This game's levelling is really good. the 8 class stories range from pretty decent (Jedi consular) to masterpiece (Imperial Agent). As the imperial agent, it's like playing an evil version of James Bond, it's very cool. the Bounty Hunter is fantastic too. it's odd, I like the non-sith and Jedi class stories better than the Sith and Jedi ones, but as I said, the worst one is still decent. the voice acting in this game is top-notch, except for 1 NPC, I don't remember his name.. it's a flash point boss I think. Vodal something or other. That is true, the purple saber exists purely because of Samuel L. Jackson or it wouldn't be in Star wars lore at all. it is my favourite colour along with... what's it called... Cyan, which my favourite character in star wars wields who is Meetra Surik, aka. the Jedi Exile.
sith warrior is my personal favorite. and the ligh/dark side system means you can play them in a number of ways story-wise. for the sith warrior, for instance, you can lean more towards the light and be an honorable warrior-poet type, or go the path of "I'm going to commit so many war crimes it'll make the balkans look like fucking switzerland"
This isn't the "Empire" that you know from Star Wars, this is the original "Sith Empire" that was finally defeated by the Republic 300 years before the Skywalker era.
what are you talking about the last sith empire was defeated about 1,027 years before the battle of yavin where darth ban betrayed the sith to make the rule of two to make it stronger and then the high republic starts at 1,000 bby when the rusan reformation are made.

At this point in history, the sith Lord had been hiding on the outskirts of the Galaxy building up the empire over hundreds of years off the grid, then invaded republic space. Mace windu became a Jedi master and was on the high council because he could tap both into dark and light side. I mean obviously more but that played a big part in his victories
There’s more to it the reason why the fights are like this and better because it was hundreds of years before the phantom menace and the sith and Jedi of this time were always at war but then the Jedi defeated the sith and all the heavy combat ended and hundreds of years past and Jedi became less skilled in fighting it would be like this generation going to war it would be a bunch OF models and gamers

Satele Shan, she is like the granddaughter or whatever of Revan and Bastila Shan. She is super strong in force and really good fighter. After all, she's a Shan, that name means something. Nah pls don’t, they have already ruined the Skywalker Saga, if they touch this Legends material they will turn it into shit.

Fun fact: After Malgus was buried under that mountain of rubble at the end of the Hope trailer, before receiving the surgery and implants that would save his life, he encountered two Jedi knights _and bested them!_
Think Darth Vader, except increase the speed and give him Force Lightning. That's Darth Malgus, impossibly tough, highly skilled and fully committed to the idea of the Dark Side itself, so much so that he went against his own Empire.
Those trailers were the hardest videos of all time when I was a kid. Loved these so much and I’m glad dontai found these fire af too

19:44 "How is this guy still alive?!"
In short...
Ah yes, the Old Republic era. Back when Jedi and Sith were ON. FUCKING. SIGHT.
I honestly prefer the Old Republic ways of the Sith compared to what Bane did. Sure, there was a bunch of infighting and shit in the old ways. I just think the idea of just having literal thousands upon thousands of Sith is way cooler than with just only two.

I will always rewatch these trailers when people watch them for the first time. They are excellent and I wish Star Wars could live up to their hype. They have yet to do so. I feel like a full animated Star Wars movie would hype as hell!
True, but they're probably expensive asf and require a lot of work, hence why they've never made a full movie with the cinematic style
The twin scene just to help you, he was upset his father never too time to appreciate their victories, it angered him that he didnt care about their win or what happened so he wanted to kill him. Struggle Nation also started with these…. I have hope that at some point Dontai might open himself up to Clone Wars just like they did, and discover just how FFFFUCKING GOOD those stories are.
If the Star Wars movies were actually like this, I’d actually be invested
Have you watched the clone wars?
So glad Dontai watched these, hope that when he's done with Jedi: Survivor he plays Force Unleashed 1 & 2. I think he'd like them since it plays similar to the old GOW games from the PS3 era and also I think Dontai would fw Star Killer because he's a OP menace also to say in simpler terms he's Star Wars version of Kratos.
40:36 If you don't know, this was the temple of Darth Nul, who combined both Sith and Jedi teachings. That holocron has techniques that can augment a weak Force user's powers. Oh and he didn't steal Satele's lightsaber. In the background you can barely see her throwing it to him. Hard to see, thought like you did at first too.
"A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one." - Chancellor Palpatine

Its a direct refference to Sith code.

Note: "BBY" stands for years Before the Battle of Yavin (the events of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope).
*Return*
Timeline: 3,681 BBY
This cinematic depicts the return of the Sith Empire.
*Hope*
Timeline: 3,667 BBY
This cinematic depicts the Battle of Alderaan (a Sith invasion intended to destroy the Republic's "symbol of serenity" to demoralize them).
*Deceived*
Timeline: 3,653 BBY
This cinematic depicts the Sacking of Coruscant, a surprise attack on Coruscant during a false ceasefire after the Sith Empire offered to end the war peacefully.
*Sacrifice*
Timeline: 3,636 BBY
This one depicts the Eternal Empire, a third "Force Order" that is neither Jedi Order nor Sith Empire (but definitely dark side).
*Betrayed*
Timeline: Around 3,630 BBY.
But it is true that it easier to use the dark side since it requires no discipline and offers fast power, whereas the light requires years, if not decades of training to be "strong."
31:10 There is no real explanation for why the Eternal Empire's Sith used yellow-bladed lightsabers.
*Disorder*
Timeline: 3,626 BBY
This trailer was animated not by Blur Studios (who did all the previous trailers), but by ILM (Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects department of Lucasfilm).

The twins (emperors sons) “11” (emperors daughter)
If you notice the soldiers and the mother have blue sabers that’s because they are just members of the empire! So essentially the yellow sabers in that empire are rare!
