For everyone scratching the slip on here is the trick. Take a flat head screwdriver and hammer slightly hit the snap ring around in a circle then hit the edges to spin the ring a little. This will loosen it up so it is not stuck in place, you have to break the built up to make it loose. You can also take a torch and heat it up this will make it easier to come out. When you hit the snap ring it breaks up the debris and pushes the pressure off the baffle against the snap ring. I know this is YEARS old but seems all the comment s are about people scratching it to hell by not loosening the ring prior.
please tell us the brand of that tool!! I tried using needle nose pliers and put 2 very minor scratches in my exhaust and I said f that so I went to auto zone and bought snap ring pliers and they were garbage....returning them tomorrow! WHAT BRAND DID U USE???
So i scratched mine badly while using matco snap ring pliers, apparently the snap ring is stuck tightly against the baffle, and there is no way I can move it. Only one side moves, the other side doesn't. Never goes smoothly as the videos. Anyways, what do you guys recommend as far as making it look new again (Paint, some type of sand paper to make it smooth again?) Help needed.
No it’s just a snap ring you van use any snapring plaier but I’ve heard some of it are real tight and gets stuck in there no matter what they’ve done. If you’re in LA area I can help you to take it out.
@@that915guy2 not really since any metal would expanding when heated, what I’m thinking you might have some rust in there from being stored in factory shelf’s so I would just try a penetrating spray and wait a few minutes then try to remove it but the best is if you remove the exhaust then try this method since you don’t want that materials to get in your pipes. Thanks and good luck brother 👍
I took mine out today and noticed it's definitely louder! Deeper growling sound on idle and screams at higher revs. Pops a bit too on deceleration, which means I probably need to tune my gixxer...
Yes there are different versions of this exhaust but make sure you know where the bolt is before drilling I’ve seen some good videos about that check them out and good luck my friend

Just took mine off right now after watching this. Thanks dude! PS. I have the exact same bike too
Anytime brother, thanks for watching.
Lord have mercy I appreciate your video
Got the same bike! I’m so getting this tool tomorrow! 😎
This is a super helpful video - thanks
Brent Lawlor you’re very welcome 😊
I had a cheap pair of spring clip pliers which couldn't do the job. As shown in this video, you need the more heavy duty pliers!

Question, does the bike have to be warm? I tried it with this tool and my baffle won't budge

@@Arvinis1 i used snap rings and nothing. I just ordered another one supposedly tougher.
Bought the same tool and still was unable to pull it out I gave up
If you're in LA I can can help you take it out.
@@Arvinis1 no, I'm in texas. Is it better to remove it when hot or cold?

@@Arvinis1 thanks for the tip bro. Ride safe!
What size snap ring tool is this my 6" one definitely not tough enough , 8" ??
I think it’s the 8” one, if you see closer there’s a 927 code in the handle,,
While the 6” one code is 926
how much louder is it with the baffle out? I've watched some before and afters and it seems to sound about the same. Just wondering. Thank you.
James Christensen Yes not much though but even a tiny bit louder it's better especially if you're commuting with it. Thanks
Thank you iMoto

About the same, but when you are riding you can't hear it
I assume installation would be the same way
Yes sir.
Snap ring pliers for a snap ring 🎉
Yes sir exactly 👍
My baffle doesn’t wanna come out from the tip, seems like I have to drill
Those rivets out.
