I just picked up the GNU as my first board. 10 days over 2 seasons, always on rental equipment, is all the experience I have. I don't want bad habits, I just want to have fun. After watching numerous videos on beginner boards, it seems to me there is no "best" beginner board. I got the gnu because of price and I like the graphics 👍
Got a pathfinder on sale end of last season and it's perfect as a low level intermediate, glad I went with the traditional camber as well. All of my friends that tried it like it too. In Avran we trust.
I bought the GWO and B-Nice as beginner boards, specifically for the forgiveness of the rocker profiles. We also have a Bataleon Blow as a beginner board. It has camber, but the 3BT makes it less likely my family catches an edge. These are all twins or asym twins because I feel that anyone that is learning should also be learning switch at the same time.
Best advice I could ever give to a beginner would be stay off rental equipment, it will just frustrate you and probably end up hurting you. Buy a decent first kit to learn, and get good boots that fit you properly.

Ditto. The 19-20 Prime was my first board purchase for 20-21 season. Had 4 days of rentals before I bought it. Put almost 30 days in it. Still rode it a couple times last season and likely this season too. I think it was the perfect starter board.
If you're a begginer. do yourself a favor and just get somthing with camber now. better to catach an edge at 15mp than 40 mph. If you're not ready to fall at all you shouldn't even be snowboarding. You will eventaully get hurt n matter what but if you teach yourself to ride camber you can become a stronger rider and save yourelf alot of grief in the long run
I started on camber boards, then went to a hybrid camber/rocker/camber board and I progressed soo much on that board. It got me more aggressive in trees, better at switch, and doing jumps. All that translated when I went back to camber dominant boards, I did have to fix some bad habits from the hybrid profile but that took no time at all.
I have a family of skiers. I bought them all rocker or 3BT boards. The better/easier the initial experience the better chance I have of pulling them away from the dark side. And as @Ryan mentions, fixing the bad habits won't take too long.

Would I be overkilling myself as a fresh beginner with a Never Summer Proto Synthesis? My goal is to push myself to learn and keep progressing, i had onpy learnt to do heel side and toe side slide and initiate some simple turns without falling (at indoor training facility here in the always hot equatorial region, yes no snow here half the world away from the beautiful mountains, training performed on slopes with magic carpet and water) I notice the board I used here at the training facility is an old Batalion Disaster with the steel edges removed. Am still new and trying to get the hang of it. But when i go to the mountains (hopefully this winter later in the year), i wish to get myself a personal board that I can learn and progress with. Freestyle would be my goal. I try to commit myself to the steep learning curve by starting with a board that will push me to learn harder in order to progress (hopefully don't end up hurting my body too much from self inflicted injuries from my silly mistakes). Been thru tonnes of various falls including a couple of horrible scorpion falls during training. Ain't easy, but i will push on.

I started looking at the Nitro Prime which led me to your reviews (solid btw 🤙) which got me looking into the Ride Agenda and now has me debating between that and the ride Wildlife (found a couple for a steal). I'm an intermediate rider and on an ancient Nitro Titan right now that i've far outgrown. I'd like something playful at lower speeds but still stable at high speeds that's fun on groomers and decent on ice. Any thoughts between the two Ride's?

I went snowboarding for the first time this past weekend at the ripe age of 32. Was carving down blues on my second day on a second hand ride TMS I got from a buddy. Pretty comfortable with turns and control but still pretty gun shy on really picking up speed because I started getting a lot of chatter. Got a question for you Avran, Did I F up by buying the Rossignol District Black? I figured I’m still beginner ish and was curious if a rocker board would slow down my progression. I guess I was getting pretty comfortable on a camber board.. Thanks.
I am surprised you went with the Raygun flat over the Raygun pop when you followed by saying everyone needs to be on a cambered board in the beginning. The flat is probably superior for a newbie, so I don't entirely disagree, but it seems like the cambered would be higher due to your personal preferences.
If you’re starting out don’t need every board killing you. Give one option for that give the rest as one’s that will help progress with an easier learning curve. Plus the pop truly is a mid level intermediate board and up.

Why are all snowboards that are labeled for beginners not produced in bigger lengths? I cant find any that is above 165cm let alone 170cm (I am 199cm) It is impossible for me to find anything.

Told them to take lessons @ bluetomato snowboardschool and there they may choose from a viraety of boards. They asked me what to take so I recommended to get a Bataleon. Already pointed out my arguments above. Just wanted to make sure I don't give them bad advise. My son started with Bat Mini Shreds and had an easy entry. He switched to a normal Camber board when he broke the 2nd one and had no issues moving away from 3BT. Would apriciate your opinion and excuse my english. :)

Wildlife is not playful, Agenda is the better choice for what you’re describing.

It'll get the job done but you'll probably outgrow it pretty fast.

Quick question, is there any draw backs to getting a "intermediate" board as a beginner, like the Burton custom or capital super doa. Would it be smarter to get on those boards early or do agenda first and then into a "better" board, thanks !

How does the Ride Agenda compare to K2 Geometric? They seem to me quite similar.
They kind of are, real difference is geometric is a little more playful in the tips.
