Wow wild to hear how much they softened it… was recommending it to my buddy based off last year’s, but this changes things. Glad I watched dude!
I’ve been waiting for this review for so long!!! 😍
Sad to hear the DoA is falling off, and glad to hear you mention the Indoor Survival in the comments. Love that thing for resort riding/messing around on flat.
I picked up a 156 and am loving it. I am 5'10 155and the soft tips are awesome. Tons of lateral flex as well. You do have to ride relaxed to get potential from this board. Not the board for heavier guys or super aggressive riders. Very capable all mountain that loves the park.
Good to hear I'm the same height and weight and I was looking at the 156. I already have an all mountain directional twin for charging harder etc and was looking for another board more for jibbing and park progression etc so I feel like the flex would be fine for me. My buddy is a big park rider and he got this year's DOA and said it's his favorite board he's ever owned especially for rails etc.
I have a 58 custom camber that I like a lot but it’s just a little stiff especially in the tip and tail for jibbing and buttering etc.. the tips of the doa are on the softer side? I’m trying to find a more park/jin style board to go with my custom. I’m 6ft but only 155lbs so finding boards that are soft enough is tough
@@TRIKushbeachside yes. The tips are super soft. A lot of heavier guys complain about it being to soft. I love mine. Others might not.
Just picked this board up today.
I’m coming from an old ass board tho 2012 never summer proto ct so really anything should be better lol
Definitely excited to try it out this week
Newb lowlander. Nothing to add, but I have the 21/22 159W DOA. I've ridden for 4 years and finally got my own board. Being from the lowlands my local had a limited selection. The DOA was the only "all mountain" option. The other choicess were dedicated park boards. I'm not sure who needs a Lobster board in OKC, but I know where that person can get one. LOL. Anyway, love the humor but have no idea about gear. Kinda glad the old model is stiffer even if I don't know why.
Hey man I really appreciate everything you do for the community for so many years. I'm looking to pickup a more camber dominant board as I've really only rode CRC, currently ride a T rice Pro. I'm between the Ultrafear and the Indoor survival, I ride mostly resort all-mountain but want to transition more into park riding. Which board do you think I'd get more out of or would you recommend? Leaning towards indoor survival for versatility but I trust your opinion more, would really appreciate your insight
Indoor for sure. Love that board.
As always, thanks for the great review. To be honest, I really hate this new trend of “super” boards. I feel like it’s just an excuse to downgrade a great model of a board while keeping its original price tag, and then creating a clone of what it used to be or adding some slight upgrades with a higher price tag and the name “super” in front of it. Glad I have my DOA from the days when it was a good wood winner. Hate to see my favorite companies do this though.
Wow, surprised to hear that about this year's board. Was looking for a new board after riding my 21 DOA for the past couple seasons and decided to pick up The Outsiders and got my first ride with it at Monarch on Sunday and I'm glad I went with it compared to the DOA.
whats the main difference between the two?
@@arlokkkk ruclips.net/video/gmN0A_DHvIo/видео.html
Hey Arwin... love the reviews and your insight.
Old snowboarder (first board was a Burton Safari)
I upgraded in 2018 from a good ol Shawn Palmer Carbon X to the Space Case. Have definitely had fun with the C2, but am intrigued with going back to Camber Profile.
I recognize the need for a quiver, so for an every day driver- (Copper, WP, Alpine Meadows) but an old man playing around in Peace Park...
Your thoughts- DOA, Indoor Survival, Riders Choice C3, or Head Space.
Intermediate carve ability, love taking park laps, but want to play with modernized Camber boards.
Thanks in advance man!
Only standout is the Indoor.
@@AngrySnowboarder Best all mountain board? Powder and backcountry hikes?
I haven't tried any of the previous years DOA ,but I just got this one in a 156 (I'm 150lbs) and I'm really stoked on it. I already have a stiffer directional twin (Yes Standard) but I wanted a second board better for park progression /jibbing. I love how light and snappy this board is! I had a GNU Headspace 2 years ago about the same size and this board feels around the same flex maybe but has more snap amd rebound , like when buttering it fights a little more when to hold a press/butter. Its def not for charging into rougher terrain etc but for being right in the middle of the road flex it feels really locked in on edge ,partially from the base structure too possibly. I've heard some people didn't like how the structure in the base made it slower to do skidded turns / slashing etc but I like how much faster the glide is with it.
Hey man deciding between the headspace and the doa to I am mainly riding park and some groomers which did u like better
@ConnorNowak I actually like the DOA a lot more ,feels more stable at speed than the headspace . The Headspace def has better edge hold on icy terrain etc but the DOA is just a little more stable and snappy imo, yet still forgiving enough for park progression. I also dig the base structure capita puts in their boards makes it so you don't have to wax as much.
@@ianmichael9224I’ve been trying to figure out a fun board to work on park/jib style riding and haven’t been able to pick any 1 board. I finally narrowed it down to the DOA/ Huck Knife or Head space. I have a custom camber that I like a lot but I’m just light for my height and boot size and the custom is just a little to stiff in the tip and tail for jib/flat ground stuff. It sounds like the DOA is a pretty good choice for a good quality relatively easy going park style board? I definitely want something that I can go run some laps on groomers but am really just trying to find a good quality park oriented board. From what I’ve seen boards like the head space just seem to be a little to flexy etc..
@TRIKushbeachside I haven't tried the huck knife but I think the most recent models of the DOA are perfect for park progression with the softer tips and it's really light weight, easier to spin etc. It almost feels like traditional camber just with very slight rocker in the tip and tail for more forgiveness. A good friend of mine who pretty much exclusively rides park recommended it to me. It's just not going to be super soft to be straight jib board but soft enough to press etc without a ton of effort for sure ,it's honestly the best board for progressing I've owed while still feeling stable enough to be a little aggressive with at times.
@@ianmichael9224 that’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for, a nice light well built board with some camber through the middle with just a bit or forgiveness by the contact points. When I take this board out I’m going to be mainly doing park stuff but I’m usually out on trips with the fam who mostly ski so I’ll still hit some groomer laps on it. The custom isn’t to stiff in general at all it’s just in the tail and front with the pure camber and there squeeze box build that I just don’t weight enough to make those spots flex as much as I want. I’m thing DOA for messing around / Custom for whatever and than I’m looking at a BSOD for charger types of days and pow
That review made me glad I bought last year's DOA.
Thanks for the many good reviews. I am an intermediate rider. After a back injury, I'm looking for something to ride on the slopes that is forgiving but fast. Maybe with a sintered base.
Would you have any tips?
You want something damp and to couple it with a binding that has better dampening. This isn't the board you want. I'd look at something from Lib/Gnu/Marhar/Amplid as they tend to be more damp. Then in terms of bindings I'd look at Bataleon or Nitro.
@@AngrySnowboarder thx
I have an older DOA (2019, I believe) that I bought used from my friend after a few seasons. I love it but I was thinking of buying a newer model for next season that's maybe a cm or 2 longer but it sucks to hear the core is affecting performance on this year's model that badly... Do the other boards that you mentioned at the end compare to what the DOA used to be?
Yes
Would you recommend the doa or jones mountain twin? Im more of an intermediate rider who mainly stays on groomers and hit small/medium park features. I would like to get more confident with aggressive riding but wouldnt say that is my riding style. I’m looking for more of a daily driver all mountain board a little more freestyle leaning. If there are other boards you recommend over these 2 please let me know.
Capita Indoor Survival or Ride Shadowban.
Hey Avran! What would you say is the difference between the DOA vs the super DOA. I know that it’s a lot more stiffer and what not but what are your thoughts on the comparison?
Beefier go Super, weaker go DOA.
I just bought this board over the weekend, pretty sure I got the last 158 in America, and it was $100 off. Going to be patiently waiting untill next season!
I wonder what bindings and boots Angry used on this one? Oh right. Forgot.
Been riding this board this season and I'm happy with it. I think you have to buy the correct size based on boot size and your weight. Try to put your weight in the middle of the recommended spec. At 170 lbs sz 10 boot, I ride a 155W. Pros: base glide, edge hold, butters, presses, decent weight. It doesnt have as much pop as I expected but it's not bad. It's pretty avg in the pow. Overall as a all mtn freestyle board its solid.
Intermediate rider here 140lbs, size 12 boots. I ride park a lot small jumps & jibs currently got a 2021 headspace but after trying my brothers box knife I definitely want to get into something closer to a traditional camber. Was looking at this, the k2 world peace & ride kink. Which would you recommend? I ride mostly east coast a lot of icy runs
Either of those will work.
I ordered it an hour or 2 before your review came out to replace my 06 k2 zepplin I hope its enough board for me. I dont hit the big big jumps yet. So it should have enough pop. I do like to fly down the hill at top speed so I hope its a smooth ride. still wondering if I should cancel and get the outsider or the ride shadowban or algorithm
To be honest, I would.
Hello Arvin!
I’m making a choice between the OSL and DoA. I can link skidded turns. Im fairly comfortable with heel carves but am starting to get more comfortable with toe carves. I could be wrong but I guess I’m a low intermediate?
I’m also only focusing on groomers. Would you recommend either the DoA or OSL? I also don’t plan to progress to being able to bomb down mountains or do tricks since I got old man hips.
Beginner. OSL.
@@AngrySnowboarder thank you
Any plans to review the ride burnout? any thoughts how it compares to this? Thanks!
Burnout is closer to the Outsiders.
looking into this for do it all, and its euro manufactured.
I sold my Proto Synthesis today. Just was not that into it. I've got a Burton Show Stopper which I'm enjoying a lot for pow and cruising. I want to take the money from the synth and get something softer I can learn to press/butter with, while still progressing in the park. Any suggestions? Ive been toying with ideas; Evil Twin, DOA, indoor survival.. few others.
I'd probably do the DOA or Evil Twin.
Would you add the Jones Mountain Twin or Yea Typo as comparable boards?
Fuck no.
Hello Arvin,
I’m not gonna dispute your on hill experience and what you thought it rode like compared to last years. Maybe it did feel softer to what you remembered. Or maybe there were other variables at play like different snow conditions, board condition, time of year…or maybe the placebo effect, if you went into the test knowing there is a core change so you expected it to feel different. There are a lot of things that could influence the test to make it feel different.
But from a CAPiTA factory and production standpoint, we have not changed the flex from 2022 to 2023 models. The core composition of the DOA has changed over the years, while the additives that make it what it is are the same. The intention has always been to make it more responsive and perform better, not to make it softer.
We have machines that calculate the flex of each model and size post production and if they don’t fit into the target rage, they don’t get shipped out.
Regardless of this boards review and our thoughts on it, thanks for all the info you bring to the snowboarding community.
Do you work for capita or somthin?
@@ididntseeaamvwiththissongs3472 I do.
I’m 5’10” 180lbs, and size 10 boots, should i go with 154 or 153W? I’m 75 park/ 25 free ride. Also was going for a stiffer board from my artifact, is this years DOA pretty much the same flex as an artifact? If yes, I might go with The Outsiders
It is very similar to the Artifact.
@@AngrySnowboarder ty my man
I audibly laughed at the end of this video because im looking at this board vs yes jackpot vs rome agent and i can't decide between them any suggestions?
after watching the indoor survival review i think that would fit my style more indoor survival vs yes jackpot vs rome agent so hard to decide wish i could spend a day on each to figure it out
Was hoping this could be my next board but after this review I'm not so sure anymore. Doesn't sound like it's a bad one but better ones (for the price) are out there? I'm an intermediate rider that's looking to progress freestyle - focus will be small to medium jumps, lots of side hits/butters so a lot of pop would come in handy. I'm not too much into jibbing but this could change. There just arent too many parks in europe but icy conditions so I wanna be able to handle those aswell as higher speed for my less cool (but faster :/) skiing "friends". Would appreciate any suggestions.
Mega Merc?
Get the Capita Indoor Survival, WAY BETTER.
@@okosakaroklenni Considered it but it's kinda expensive.
@@AngrySnowboarder Are this and last years version both fine? Or did they mess it up aswell?
@@AngrySnowboarder is it worth getting the indoor, upgrading from a '21 huck knife or too lateral of a move?
For an intermediate rider, not much park, wanting a hard charger, that rides mainly Mt Hood, this or the Mercury?
Mercury all day.
I bought one on sale. 163w- 6’3’’ 200lbs. I agree this board has some pop and can easily lock in the butter. But I was hoping for a big stick that would sink into some turns and go through the east coast shit snow without resonating through the foot. Oh well 😂
Is it decent enough for park etc? I have an all mountain boars that's stiffer and was looking at this year's DOA just as a park progression board that's better for rails etc than my daily driver.
WuaAaa it’s finally here!¡
Hey mate, looking at getting a DOA.
Torn on which size to get. I’m 88-90kg.
Boot size in US 10.5 - 11 depending on boot.
Considering either:
- 156 waist 252
- 158 waist 254
- 155 wide waist 258
Which size would you recommend?
Cheers
You need to dial your boot in first.
I own a 2021 doa and one binding that i think is underated are the 390 boss by rome, they are amazing with that board for some reason people dont talk to much about them
Rome makes great bindings and snowboards
i have the 390 Boss on my Indoor Survival it’s amazing! but yeah it gets look over because it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles as the Katana and not as popular as any of the Union lines
Hi Avran, would you recommend the Capita DOA or the Arbor Frank April Westmark Camber for riding around all over the mountain with the wife and hitting the park after lunch time?
Either.
Hi Avran, I've got the board and at first it felt great and I loved the way it felt. But the more I rode it the more I felt like I could use some more grip while carving especially on steeper terrain (which is what I mostly ride ) and while on heel edge. I feel like it doesn't lock in properly. I was thinking about the navigator '23 or the Indoor. Or should I go one step further with the super model. Or maybe it's just me...
Describe a typical day or riding to me and what your needs are please.
@@AngrySnowboarder Well most of the day I just carve from side to side at the resort at medium to high speeds. When I'm not doing that I go on narrow trails. Occasionally, I hit some pow off track. Would do if more often but due to climate change good pow is rare as I'm sure you're aware. No park yet since I don t consider myself worthy yet. I need something thats a bit more stable at high speeds and does not suck in pow. Thank you and I really appreciate it uncle Avran!
I don't think you need anything in the twin category really. Sounds like maybe something like a Rome Stalefish would fit the bill of what you want.
Got it! Thanks again uncle Avran!@@AngrySnowboarder
Are you planning on doing one for Nitro Gullwing? Or maybe you've just tried it already and have some thoughts?
Gullwing sucks.
@@AngrySnowboarder why tho
How is this board compared to the Capita Outerspace Living? Also, does this board work for an upper-level beginner / lower-level intermediate?
It's stiffer and more aggressive. It'll work.
I was at cataloochee on my capita outer space living and a guy cruised up on a DOA and said he wished he had picked my board over his.
Is there a huge difference between the 23 outer space living and the 23 doa?
Sidecut, materials, but the flex is pretty similar.
I bought a outerspace last season, I'm really liking it.
Would u say it’s a good beginner board that wants something to grow into?
Wouldn't be my first choice.
Do you think the POP on this board is fenomenal or just good? I'm trying to compare this with OSL. Thanks!
Moving from an OSL it's incrementally better.
Anyone can compare this year's flex to the previous year's huck knife? (or even this year's). Curious how it compares.
Softer.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks man, I appreciate it. That's quite effin' soft, if it's softer than my 2020, the new doa is out of the contenders for my next board. Ride zero or another HK it is...
Hello :)
I really dont know what to do.
Intermediate/advanced rider. I am riding the 2019 Capita Horrorscope in 155W for years and i learned so much on it, but I want a new one. No more Rocker. No more THAT soft. More pop. More carving. Probably a ~158W size.
I am 6‘1“ 200 lbs. 80% all mountain always looking for sidehits and more like doing dumb shit. Not too aggressive riding. Often riding switch.
And 20% park hitting the small/middle jumps.
Watched your videos about the super doa, doa and the huck knife (which is very interesting). But i dont really know what board i should go next. I am waiting for the 2024 models to ride next season.
You would help me a LOT with some advise.
And i love being in the air. Heading to do more jumps in the future
Sounds like you need a directional all mountain freestyle board. I'd recommend the Ride Shadowban.
Thank you. I will think about it.
I'm thinking about buying the doa in 153W (boot size 10, 5"10). The specs say it is suitable for up to 81kg. However, I weigh 82kg. Is it okay in terms of weight?
It'll just have a little more flex and not even that much.
I kinda regret getting it. Like you said, more forgiving than previous years. I based my decision on the previous year’s reviews and bought it when it came out.
It’s good for one thing: popping of medium jumps. It’s a side hit queen, you just launch.
But I’ve had a couple of instances where it’s failed me on some higher speed blues with sub optimal conditions. I’m also working on my heel side carves at higher speed still, but yeah I’m wanting more stiffness I think.
But I’ve also run into stuff that would take me down on a stiffer board, and it just kinda rolls over it. you can feel the torsional flex.
Check out the indoor survival or the Merc. I own all 3 the doa is my least favorite, it just has tons of hype behind it
Ive got a 2015 DOA that im giving to a buddy. Was going to get a 2024 DOA but what you say about the 2023 having less stability worries me a bit. Jave you tried the 2024 and know if it is less stable like the 2023?
Nothing changed for 2024.
Which board is better at carving? DOA or Indoor Survival?
Indoor.
I just came from YES jackpot, which do you think is the better board between that and the DOA?
Jackpot
Hi I’m 183 height 94 kg and my boot is 45euro…which size is for me the capita doa??
You’re going to need one of the bigger sizes.
hy im 5'10 178lbs and boot size 10. do you think 157W fits me ? or should i go with the 156
Either

Looking at the shadowban or lib trs. Heading to snowbird. What would be your pick between the two? Thanks for your advice
Neither.
@@AngrySnowboarder word
@@AngrySnowboarder Can you explain why not the Shadowban? I thought that was your favorite snowboard going into the 2023 season from your Top 5 video.
@@Homicizzle probably because snowbird is getting completely hammered with snow and an actual powder board would be way better for the conditions.
Is it still too far of a stretch for someone who’s a high end beginner/just over the line into intermediate?
No. I would put myself close to that category and I ride it just fine. Actually love it!
Honestly no, it's really soft.
Hello my friend.I want to buy a snowboard I like the burton process or capita doa..which I is more stiff and aggressive..help me please..
Probably the Process but not by much.

T. Rice pro 2023 or DOA. Thanks in advance.
What are two snowboards from two different companies.
Haha Angry
Any news with 2023 mercury?
Is that still good buy
For every day use
Thaaank you!
Own one, first board, bad purchase. 160 size for a 160lb guy, barely in the recommended weight range and even though I’m a newer rider faster transitioning of carves definitely left wanting more as Angry mentions. Certainly as I improve or get fatter maybe that will go away. But I definitely should have gone for a smaller board size. Otherwise actually a good purchase, loved it had fun and improved considerably through a season of consistent riding.
👌
Whats with companies softening up a lot of boards this year my only guess is they can make more money selling beginner ish style boards cause most people cant shred hard?
All the new Super Ultra Mega Pro versions.
@@AngrySnowboarder yeah that sucks these boards come with a heavy price point where it feels like you could get boards with a nice stiff Flex and good quality for a more regular price before. But maybe it's just all boards are getting a bit more pricey.

Pressing and butters are just not that important for any snowboard review. There just not
Yeah cause no one buys a park board to press or butter on ever! In fact snowboards don’t even need to flex at all they can just be a plank. Let’s get rid of tip kick too while we are at it.
