Soup Fixin's and Corncakes from Pantry

- Soup is a satisfying food prepared from things in your pantry and refrigerator. Add some corncakes, and you have a great meal. Making this soup the day before grocery day helps you use up what is about to expire. It will also be something you can eat before or after shopping when you are tired from shopping. This soup contains items I found in my pantry and refrigerator. You can do whatever you like in the amounts needed for your family. I will list what I put in my soup. Your ingredients might be totally different. The next time I make soup, it might differ from the one I made today!
Saute some onions, celery, and carrots. I added some dried thyme, cayenne, black pepper, dried parsley, and miso paste.
I added some cabbage and canned vegetables: diced tomatoes, green beans, whole corn, and garbanzo (chickpea).
There is enough soup for several servings.
Add 1 cup of self-rising cornmeal to the bowl to make the corncakes. Add 1 egg and enough buttermilk (any milk) to make a batter. Lightly spray your pan, add a spoonful of batter, and cook like a pancake.
My kind of meal, yummy! ❤
It was good. I had a midnight snack of corncake!

Yes, it's easy. A little of this and that. My sister makes the best soup. She will save some leftover gravy, meat, veggies, rice, pasta, etc., from different meals (saves in the freezer), and when the container is full, she makes soup. Add some water or broth, and it's tasty with all those leftovers.
@@helencantimagine Is it possible to make chicken noodle soup like that, with broth and such? I've never tried to make soup, honestly.
@@pandapie9012 A rotisserie chicken, a package of egg noodles, and a carton of chicken broth would be a simple way to start. I've made homemade noodles and added them to the leftover rotisserie chicken I boiled. I'll keep this in mind for a video.
