I really liked Quiet's humming over the radio once she got to her sniping position. It gave me comfort even when I was just about to walk into hell. ( a highly guarded area ) Now I'm not saying that I'm not guilty of being a creep a few times when she was taking a shower aka feeding, but I genuinely liked her character, despite her not saying a single word throughout almost the entire game.
Meredith Stout from Cyberpunk 2077 got a lot of obsession from people after the gameplay demo footage with her in it. She's not a boss in the sense you have to fight her, but she is a literal higher level Corpo superior and treats you antagonistically upon your first encounter and you can choose to treat her as an enemy later. She was clearly only meant to be in that one mission, but fan queries as to whether she was playing a bigger role and could be romanceable lead to that extra optional encounter with her.
Ugh please no. She looks like Olga Skabeeva especially in the 2018 demo. Considering CDPR is Polish I think its possible the 3D artist really used her for reference.
It's been a while since I've been "obsessed " with any female video game characters, but Glados seems like a very, um, specific character to include among the other 9.
Mainly because Caroline who became glados has a tragic backstory, and being one of the main "human voices" you hear from both games until you have weatley and cave johnson, people grew attached to her, even more so when you learn her backstory and how she was forced to be an A.I.
Stephanie who played Quite is such sweetheart in real life, she's good friend with Gab Smolders and they played some horror games on Gab's channel back in the day.
A few I obsessed over growing up were Shahdee from Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Bad Girl from No More Heroes, and Araña from Wanted: Weapons of Fate.
Best Female Boss was clearly Aphrodite from God of War 3... That button spamming to defeat her was so painful that even the camera didn't show their fight🗿🗿🗿🌚🌚
Lilith from Diablo IV deserves an honorable mention at the very least. I know not everyone loves the game, but her presentation as a character is excellent.
I loved the Quiet character lol. The FemShip clone in Mass Effect 3 was great. The story that revolved around her was so funny and well done. A Bioware masterpiece imo.
I was hoping to see Benedikta Harman of Final Fantasy 16 here. A beautifully written Character with supreme voice acting and her Boss Battle is one of the best in the game.
While I do agree she is great. The game is not out on PC yet and maybe cause of that or maybe she is just not good enough, she is no a phenomena like others on the list. I mean Lady Dimitrescu from RE, she was all over the internet, every gaming news outlet was talking about it. BUT like I said Benedikta Harman definitely one of the good ones IMAO!
Quiet is by far one of my favorite! I was still young when I played this game and not gonna lie, I liked her look too, but there are other characters in games where they are reveling and sexy and yet she is one of the few who stayed with me. She is such a well written, perfectly acted character. As I become older, now I can appreciate how well made she is.
Alma Wade from F.E.A.R. should've been included in the top 10 imho. You could argue you never actually fight her, but rather survive her, but still... Alma is one of my favourite antagonists ever.

Capcom definitely pulled a dick move on us with Lady D. The marketing was like 90% her, 5% hand mutilation, and 5% other. And yet she's the first main boss in the game. Some people defend it by saying "well it kept the rest of the game a surprise"...nah, it's not that deep. They definitely knew what they were doing when they made her the focus of their marketing.
Stefani Joosten singing “Quiet’s Theme” at the game awards puts her performance completely over the top, fantastic moment that never ceases to bring me in the edge of tears. Great character, even better actress.

In some games, mostly from Japanese developers, they really work on getting “the walk” right. If you’ve played Genshin Impact or Nier: Automata you know exactly what I’m talking about. Cat Woman from the Arkham games is another prime example. A very feminine, exaggerated walk animation. They know what they did. They know. What. They. Did.
The thing that always bothered me about Quiet, is even if she couldn't speak (which is explained with a very justified reason), why couldn't she communicate by writing? The reason for her being unable to speak would not impact that at all. So why?
Quiet was such a great character and op as fuck in MGS5, when you had her on the field with you it was like being her sidekick she basically did everything better than you could.
One thing I wish people would understand about The Twins is how they are a comment on the Russian Ballet during the Soviet Era and how it became essentially a Strip show/Brothel for Party Members and other powerful people.
Don't know about the Soviets, but the latest scandal about Russian Ballet practically becoming a brothel is from the Putin era - a former dancer called Volochkova talked about this first to the BBC in 2013, and amongst others, Joy Womack, an American dancer quitting Bolshoi Ballet in 2013 talked about the same thing, supported by others. Being forced to go to private dinners and sleep with oligarchs, sponsors, powerful people, or get no opportunities to go on tour, get roles, etc.

When speaking of my personal favorite, it'd absolutly be GlaDOS. Meeting her in Portal 2 felt like finding a long lost friend. But Quiet is sure up there too. Not as a boss, but as a companion. Having her as a battle buddy almost broke the game into an Easy mode. There was this sense of confidence in hearing her humming on radio, like your personal guardian angel with .308 rifle and a scope. Loosing her by the end of the game really felt like a missing limb.

I love how the Portal in-game footage they used for a bit about Glados was from a game that didn't even have her. That footage was from Portal: Reloaded, and which was a fan made game with no Glados in it.
I never understood why people feel the need to get mad at how a character is dressed in a video game. Be it a half naked man or a half naked woman, there's zero reason to be all mad if you're not just somebody who likes to complain about random stuff. "Sexualization" of the characters in a video game happens anyway, be them clothed or not (see Dimitrescu) but what of it? I saw SO MANY thirst posts about Chris Redfield from Resident Evil already, but no man cared about this. Yet as soon as a woman is "sexualized" it becomes a problem lmfao People need to stop thinking about sex as a taboo, having a sexualized character isn't a bad thing. Never was.
Well there's always gonna be pushback for the female characters. There's been a double standard for that for decades now. They show a half naked dude in a game and nobody freaks out but you show a woman with half a boob out and all of a sudden there's controversy and the character is being "sexualized". It gets really annoying especially when all it is is a bunch of shapes rolled into a figure resembling a human body. Like sure get pissy about a bunch of shapes that aren't even a real person 😂
I find it silly that people get outraged about sexuality more than violence even in video games. Sex is a part of life. In the end it's really the only one that matters (since we really only exist to reproduce and without it there would simply be no human race). Sex is not inherently misogyny. Grow up.
Aranea and Laviathin from FFXV were 2 of my favorite female boss battles my brother liked the Leviathan boss battle but he also liked the boss battle in Far Cry New Dawn the twins one of them was dead while the other was dying so he mostly liked both female boss battles in both games
Hot take: I think if game designers want scantily clad women(or men) in their games, that's fine. And their right. If you take offense to it, don't buy/play it. It's not my preference in a game either, but that doesn't mean it needs to be the source of controversy. I just put in the little extra time to unlock her cool tactical uniform and continued to enjoy the game.
I'm not surprised she didn't make the list but definitely on mine would be Sister Friede. Just an absolutely awesome boss fight. Oooh and Sigrun from God Of War.
I love Quiet so much. Also it seems appropriate that the best female character is the one that doesn't say a word. When she finally does speak to you, it's one of the most tearjerking moments in videogames. As a grown man I cried my eyes out.
At first, I REALLY FREAKING HATED Quiet!.. I couldn't get her to do anything HELPFUL!. I was straight up mad. Thought she was just Eye Candy that Kojima threw into the game to get horny teens to play. But then I just so happened to kind of pointed her in a direction that I actually needed her in. I got spotted and I couldn't get my weapon out in time and before I knew it a bullet went straight though his face and I heard *Whitney Houston's- I Will Always Love You*. From that moment, I fell in love with Quiet.. LMFAO.
My favorite female "Boss" was probably Ferril from BloodRayne 2. Her design, her introduction, and I'm not big on curse words but when she cursed it was so fierce and kind of sexy. 😄 Awesome video. Probably one of my favorites (wonder why 😁). Happy New Year!

With only Metal Gear Solid you have three great female boss with Quiet being the most recent. But you still have Sniper Wolf and The Boss.
Can't forget the Beauty and the Beast unit in MGS4. I was obsessed with Raging Raven.
I would even include the B & B Unit from MGS4, all of them were great looking and tragic backstories
Who ever did the character models for the parasite sniper unit in MGS V when you go to rescue the Code Talker did a pretty good job .

When speaking of my personal favorite, it'd absolutly be GlaDOS. Meeting her in Portal 2 felt like finding a long lost friend.
But Quiet is sure up there too. Not as a boss, but as a companion. Having her as a battle buddy almost broke the game into an Easy mode. There was this sense of confidence in hearing her humming on radio, like your personal guardian angel with .308 rifle and a scope. Loosing her by the end of the game really felt like a missing limb.
"Over sexualization." They're videogame robots... People will get enraged by anything these days.

I love how the Portal in-game footage they used for a bit about Glados was from a game that didn't even have her. That footage was from Portal: Reloaded, and which was a fan made game with no Glados in it.

I never understood why people feel the need to get mad at how a character is dressed in a video game. Be it a half naked man or a half naked woman, there's zero reason to be all mad if you're not just somebody who likes to complain about random stuff.
"Sexualization" of the characters in a video game happens anyway, be them clothed or not (see Dimitrescu) but what of it? I saw SO MANY thirst posts about Chris Redfield from Resident Evil already, but no man cared about this. Yet as soon as a woman is "sexualized" it becomes a problem lmfao
People need to stop thinking about sex as a taboo, having a sexualized character isn't a bad thing. Never was.
Well there's always gonna be pushback for the female characters. There's been a double standard for that for decades now. They show a half naked dude in a game and nobody freaks out but you show a woman with half a boob out and all of a sudden there's controversy and the character is being "sexualized". It gets really annoying especially when all it is is a bunch of shapes rolled into a figure resembling a human body. Like sure get pissy about a bunch of shapes that aren't even a real person 😂

I find it silly that people get outraged about sexuality more than violence even in video games. Sex is a part of life. In the end it's really the only one that matters (since we really only exist to reproduce and without it there would simply be no human race). Sex is not inherently misogyny. Grow up.
Not a boss per say. But I was obsessed with Janete Vorman from Vampire Bloodlines the Maquarade when I was 14. Always had a thing for goth chick's.

Aranea and Laviathin from FFXV were 2 of my favorite female boss battles my brother liked the Leviathan boss battle but he also liked the boss battle in Far Cry New Dawn the twins one of them was dead while the other was dying so he mostly liked both female boss battles in both games
Frau Engel from Wolfenstein 2 has been one of my favorite villains in a while
Hot take: I think if game designers want scantily clad women(or men) in their games, that's fine. And their right. If you take offense to it, don't buy/play it.
It's not my preference in a game either, but that doesn't mean it needs to be the source of controversy. I just put in the little extra time to unlock her cool tactical uniform and continued to enjoy the game.

I love Quiet so much. Also it seems appropriate that the best female character is the one that doesn't say a word. When she finally does speak to you, it's one of the most tearjerking moments in videogames. As a grown man I cried my eyes out.

At first, I REALLY FREAKING HATED Quiet!.. I couldn't get her to do anything HELPFUL!. I was straight up mad. Thought she was just Eye Candy that Kojima threw into the game to get horny teens to play. But then I just so happened to kind of pointed her in a direction that I actually needed her in. I got spotted and I couldn't get my weapon out in time and before I knew it a bullet went straight though his face and I heard *Whitney Houston's- I Will Always Love You*. From that moment, I fell in love with Quiet.. LMFAO.
My favorite female "Boss" was probably Ferril from BloodRayne 2. Her design, her introduction, and I'm not big on curse words but when she cursed it was so fierce and kind of sexy. 😄

I was never "obsessed" with any of these but there are some female characters I legitimately care about like Ellie from TLOU, Aloy from Horizons and Merrin from Star Wars for Instance.
Merrin is such a great character that I really care about too.
