I'm 51 years old and I've been playing video games basically all my life. and I thought I was pretty good at most of games, but...... I started playing Rocket League with my son about 3 years ago, who was 10 years old back then. It was a way to spend some time with my son and have fun, that sort of thing. But then he started getting competitive, invited his friends to play with him, studied all the moves and tricks on RUclips. Well, fast forward to present, while I'm stuck at the Gold level, he's at the Diamond level, which is two levels above, and he beats me all the time on 1 vs 1. The gamer in me feels the need to crush this little guy, but as father, I guess I'm sort of proud? I don't know, it's complicated. LOL.
Dude. Im forty and my nephew is 10. He only wants to play this. And i consider myself a pretty decent gamer. I just cant hang. Its incredible. And i also hate the game with a passion. But we always play and he always whoops on me.
I'm 23, been playing for 6 years or so, can confirm the game is really wild, the skill level to get from one comp level to another is huge, you gonna know the tricks and what is worst, be consistent most of the time to even have a chance.
As someone who formally sucked at video games and then went into Elden Ring, I will say this game destroyed me to the point where I stopped playing for months. I slowly got back into it and learned and current day have platinumed every souls game lol. So anything is possible
I appreciate this list. As a casual gamer who spends as much time listening to your videos as I do playing actual video games this saved me from buying a couple of games I was contemplating getting.
I used to only play turn based RPGs and cozy games like animal crossing. Then I played bloodborne and rage quit it. Kept going back, making it a bit farther, then getting too scared or too frustrated and walking away. I got a new gaming laptop and really wanted to test the graphics. I couldn't play bloodborne because it's not on PC, so I got Dark Souls 3. Something about this game really clicked with me. I was in love with the world and pushed through the difficulty. I got good. Now I love Souls games. Moving to Sekiro next. Never limit yourself.
Yeah especially when return policies are only 2 hours. I mean for something like Baldur's Gate 3, that's nowhere near enough time to realize you hate a title. I mean, not if you give it an honest try. So then you're screwed out of 60 bucks you can't ever get back, and since you don't own a physical cartridge or disc, you can't even sell it. Channels like this are invaluable for avoiding crappy games.
Noita should definitely be on this list if there will be a part two. The amount of random stuff that game throws at you without explanation is insane. Runs go from "I'm doing pretty well" to "Everything is on fire" real fast.
Ah, a fellow wizard and man of culture I see. God damn that game is one of the hardest but most amazing games i have ever played in my life. clicked on the vid hoping to see it lol. 600 hours and still haven't completed the sun quest or 33 orbs
As I've gotten older, my tolerance for "really hard" games has significantly gone down. Now in my mid 40s, I just don't have the patience to die repeatedly and keep replaying sh*t over and over.
I've actually gone the other route. I think "I've beaten Halo games solo on legendary, I've beaten plenty of difficult SNES and N64 games, why shouldn't I try elden ring?
@@Calladim42 and I also went the other route. I prefer to play on hard now and like to be challenged (depending on the game ofcourse) and enjoy a soulslike from time to time. But I also don’t have the patience anymore for extremely repetitive things. Elden Ring was a joy to beat; I quit Demon Souls due to the constant runbacks to the boss.
My Dad turns 60 tomorrow and still plays video games. Although he's toned it down to only playing war games like cod and he loves all of the sniper games
I think the Armored Core series deserved an honorable mention. The games aren't impossible to beat, but if you can't figure out the enemy mechanics and weapon pairing then it basically becomes impossible after the first handful of missions.
I have owned the original Ghosts and Gobblins for NES for over 30 year and I can count on one hand the number of times I made it past the first level. So it sounds like they nailed the original experience.
You know, this video reflects exactly why I don’t play online much anymore. Gamers are jerks to the people who don’t have the same skill as them. I honestly can’t put in the time to become as skilled as those who do nothing else.
Agreed. Not playing online games anymore was my best decision in gaming. I'd rather play offline games. More variety, more fun and better quality in general if compared to online games. The only time online gaming is good is if it is with your friends. Co-op is awesome tho.
@@naplzt4kI’m going to disagree with you there. If you go to the Y and play pick up basketball and you aren’t good No one is going to call you an idiot In fact people are pretty empathetic usually Now if you are playing ina league or a game where money is involved Then yeah but even then it will be much more constructive than “fuck you noob I hope you die” The only thing that seems similar to the way gamers behave honestly is a RUclips comments section. The reason is anonymity People are never going to be anywhere close to as mean and heartless in person. Thats just human nature But it is pretty disappointing because it sort of shows us a small slice at how people behave when there is nothing on the line and when they can’t get in trouble for it if they aren’t nice
Same, though I've heard great things about the community on deep rock galactic. I'm also thinking of checking out helldiver's. Those games seem to not really have any competitive elements to them, so people get along better.
The guy who made Grand Poo World 3 is BarbarousKing, my fav streamer, and even if you're good at (Kaizo) Super Mario World that game is still super hard! Props to you guys for putting that in this list. One of the best SMW hacks out there if you like hard stuff.
I made an Alt account because I’m afraid to post this on my main for fear of community backlash. I am a LONG time viewer, donater and twitch subscriber of barnabous kong. I am very concerned the GPW3 will not live up to the hype. I have watched almost every lunar magic stream, so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect with this game. I really feel like he didn’t have the enthusiasm or passion when making GPW3 as you did for GPW2. I do not mean any offense by this, but the level design seems particularly uninspired compared to the second installment.
As someone who sucks at video games, it's a miracle I haven't stopped a long time ago, but I love playing video games too much. I never played any of these, but the hardest game I ever beat was Nioh. And it only cost me two controllers, one headset, one glass table and two whisky glasses.
Its stupid hard but not difficult. Platformer difficulty that requires timing isn't a true challenge. Same goes for every brain dead Mario games. You just "hop" thru the level and requires good muscle memory. Same reason Crash Bandicoot games fall into the braindead difficult category.
@@mrShade-sb1th same, it's my first game as well and the game that made me try and love fromsoft games, I'm playing shadow of the erdtree recently , hard but really fun
Ghostrunner is soooooo good. Highly recommend. The flow state of it is next level. One of my favourite games of the last 5 years, along with Sifu and Sekiro.
Hardness for the sake of it is poor game design. For me to play and finish a Hard Game, I must love it mechanics and enjoy playing it. Like Sekiro. Bloody hard game, but its mechanics are so good, I grinded hours into it and then, at the end, I defeated the Final boss in only 8 tries. And then completed the Ressurection mod too. It was all so satisfying. Sifu was great too. I have done Deathless now.
Can you guys please start putting the game name in the chapter time bar? It would be much more helpful versus how you guys always put “number 8” “number 2” and etc.
When I was younger, I used to finish games like Contra and Castlevania without losing a life. I can't even dream of doing that stuff now. I simply don't have the patience nor the desire to do it. My tolerance for endlessly croaking is low, as well as my reflexes. I am, however, much better at navigation and understanding complex mechanics. Game types I used to stink at when I was younger, I now enjoy them. I skip the pixel perfect twitchy games, and go straight for complex flight sims and survival games.
Yup as a kid I loved hard games now as an adult I can’t do it. The hardest game I’ve played was god of war ragnorock fighting those special bosses to get armor. That was challenging so all that other stuff naw I’m good.
At 27 years old, i’ve had the same transition from breezing through games but then become incredulously frustrated when I felt gated by a certain challenge. Nowadays, I am more accepting when encountering these challenges and understand that eventually I will persevere. I believe this manifestation derives from the growth in comprehension as you mentioned. Due to this growth, whenever I am having trouble with something, I have an inherited ability to distinguish between errors caused by me as opposed to feeling cheated by the game
@@tylergayden5374 Nice comment and interesting. After a while, a gamer gets pretty jaded, and knows more what they enjoy. I'm mostly drawn to games now on whether they are fun or not. Some of my favorite games of all time are pretty easy. On the other hand, my favorite series of all time is Darksouls games. I played my first Darksouls game in the middle of winter, at night, and no one was around. It's the first time I felt actually alone in a game. Then I saw the ghosts, which I didn't know right away were actually players. It was a surreal experience. I finished the game just when spring started. I'll never forget it.
Would still suggest playing them. I love video games but I'm not particularly good at them. I played Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Sekiro and AC6 and got my ass kicked a lot but after hours and hours of practicing and tweaking game play styles I was able to beat every one of them. Playing games for fun is great but there is something to be said about the sense of accomplishment when you beat a level or boss that you were stuck on for an hour.
Getting better thru repetition is lost on people. No matter what you do you're not gonna get better at it without putting in some time and effort. If you play ball you have to practice. If you play guitar you have to practice. If you're conducting experiments you test different variables and run it over and over. Yet some gamers play games and get mad that they actually have to put forth some effort or mental energy. Then get mad at the game and/or people that can instead of getting mad at themselves.
I am a casual gamer. I don’t have time to “git gud”. I am a high school teacher and video games need to not be tedious for me because my job is itself tedious. My video games need to be escaping the tedious. I am currently playing Wolf Among Us and loving it. The only exception is GOW Ragnarok. I platinumed that game because it was so captivating. I burnout real quick in a video game if it becomes too tedious. Does anybody have any recommendation for non-tedious, non-grinding, compelling narrative games? Uncharted is kind of my vibe right now. Linear games are so refreshing to me.
I enjoy challenging games personally but Red Dead Redemption 2 i think would be a good game for you. Ghost of Tsushima can be a tiny bit challenging at the start but combat is easier than God of War
Yes,Witcher 3,Red Dead Redemption2.I call these games narrative driven relaxing adventures. Also if you love exploration AC Valhalla is beautiful and worth every penny.
Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel. If you have a spouse or significant other, It Takes Two is amazing. Bramble. A Plague Tale and its sequel. The Batman Games (not Origin). Red Dead Redemption and its sequel. Everyone's Gone to Rapture. What Remains of Edith Finch. A ton more I can't think of right now
That is why I completely avoid online games. I just don't have the time or patience to put into games like that. Plus, I play games to have fun, not to "git gud." I'll just stick to my offline single player games.
As someone who has had doubts on if i sucked at VG or not im glad ghost runner is considered because i did every achievement possible on this game, i have every blade (minus dlc) and all the mini game times done. This feels like an absolute win.
Playing through the beginning of Sekiro was so crushingly difficult I questioned whether or not I could actually get through the game. I was used to the parrying of Bloodborne, but having to deflect was a completely different beast. I’m much better at the game now and have played through it 10 times. I think it would be easy for someone to attempt it and quit early, however, because of the stiff learning curve. It’s very deceptive. The combat is simple to learn but difficult to master.
I realize when ppl want to sound kool or different they go against the norm for example souls games are notorious for being difficult so ppl will say "hey souls games are so easy"
@@Mr.Rabot6688 it's not about sounding cool a streamer got his 60+ year old mum who's never touched a video game to beat what's considered one of the "hardest" bosses in the first game, if a Grandma can beat souls bosses what's your excuse?
I've played both LoL and Dota 2, I think LoL is more fast-paced battle and Dota 2 is more like strategy, especially items and some passive abilties, you must buy items according to your enemy heroes. I can say that both are GOATed games, my favourite ones
At 27 years old, i remember I use to breeze through games but then become incredulously frustrated when I felt gated by a certain challenge. Nowadays, I am more accepting when encountering these challenges and understand that eventually I will persevere. I believe this manifestation derives from the growth in constructively assessing my challenge barriers during a play-through. Whenever I am having trouble with something, I have inherited the ability to distinguish between errors caused by me as opposed to feeling cheated by the game, which in turn has enabled me to be a lot more patient and less stressed
It also depends on how good the game is. FromSoft are known for making hard but fair games, for example. As soon as you die, you know why almost immediately and can begin course correcting. And if you keep dying it's because you keep messing up, not because the game is shit. But if the hit boxes and animations are all over the place, then it becomes uninteresting quite quickly. Why even bother to navigate a mess? Ofc, a truly decent mindset will get you through any game.
Playing souls game are kinda like: Purchasing the game Playing it for fun Realising its not fun for casual play Cursing and hating yourself for everytime you die (which will be a lot source: trustme) Dying more to random encounters over bosses Claiming a masterpiece of a game from FROMSOFTWARE >>>>>>>>>>>> that's usually what I do :D
I was going to bring up Kaizo Mario as #11 because I assumed it wouldn't be in the video, but then I was happy to see you guys included GPW3, lol. Never played kaizo games myself because I'm pretty bad at video games, but they're super fun to watch if the person playing is competent.
Which one? Cuphead? I completed Cuphead last week after a ridiculous amount of graft! I died over 1000 times in total, but I still feel seriously happy that I endured it to the end!! Just downloaded the delicious last course yesterday! And so it begins (again) 😩
I have been playing games since the Atari 2600. I am 47 and consider myself decent at video games but I absolutely hate how games just try to outdo each other to be the hardest. Not everyone who plays games is or needs to be a hardcore gamer. Make your games harder difficulty levels hard that's fine, but also make them accessible to everyone. Such good games are rendered useless because they want to be hard.
I usually suck at difficult games. Given up on souls games so many times without ever getting past starting areas. But somehow ended up extremely enjoying and fully completing Ghostrunner and Sekiro. The god like satisfaction these two games give after completing something you found specially challenging makes the grind worthwhile.
It's not a matter of sucking - it's a matter of not wanting to dedicate my life to reaching the high competence needed. Replaying the same boss dozens or hundreds of times to figure out its weaknesses is not rewarding; it's Stockholm syndrome. I play most games on medium. If they are really hard, I have zero guilt about playing them on easy. I'm here for the story not the process of "gitting gud." When idiots whine that certain games should not have difficulty modes, all they are telling me is that they think they are they only arbiters of how to enjoy games.
Exactly this. Got in a reddit argument thr other day with someone that said "if you aren't playing on hard like the devs intended, do you even like games?". If devs decided to put difficulty options in their games, clearly they were intended to be used, yes?
@@Vik1919 No one said anything about Fromsoft games needing difficulty options. The point was that tryhards whine that NO GAME should have difficukty options, and that you aren't a gamer unless you play the games that do on the OMGXTREEEEME difficulty.
I agree sometimes I don't have endless time to spend hacking at a game to complete a mission or boss that is difficult or become a completist of trophies.
@@Vik1919 The "git gud" crowd are total cretins. Elitist, pompous, mono-thinking idiots who take perverse pride out of having wasted weeks trying to beat single bosses. If you feel personally attacked by me calling _them_ idiots, I suggest that ask yourself why. I'm under no obligation to play nice with people who routinely patronise and literally make the game world worse. And why would I care if I am taken seriously by idiots? I wasn't asking for their approval. I'm not entitled to an easy mode, but then that same company had better NEVER whine about the state of the games industry, how expensive it is to make games, how they don't sell enough games or why they need to fire thousands of staff. Yes, if games don't have difficulty levels, I don't buy them. That's why I never bought Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro or many other games. That's a loss to the publisher and a loss to me. Who wins in that equation? Idiots who take pride in their willingness to waste days of their lives with an elevated heart rate and hair tearing frustration. I am asking for games to be more inclusive; you are asking for them to be accessible to FEWER people. WTF indeed.
For Ghostrunners vs. Hotline Miami, i would agree with most but its also keeping in mind that Hotline Miami ideally is designed so that even if you die, the restart is just as quick and hoping back into the chaos in these half a second bursts feels natural.
Huge respect for the skill of gamers who engage in these games. I play to relax, and love single player action RPGs. I play on easy or story mode most of the time. That doesn’t mean I don’t love learning about other kinds of games, even when I won’t probably play them. Games are fun! Glad there are so many ways for us all to play and enjoy them.
Sekiro’s first boss, I died at least 30 times, after I beat him, I thought I was gud, then when I got to lady butterfly..I still haven’t played it in months 😂
The last battle in sekiro crushed my soul, I went 3 days and 3 night before I finally beat that old man. You could only imagine how fulfilling it felt after over 100 try’s.
I play They Are Billions, and TaB only. My last challenge: survive map 4, hardest difficulty, without a single loss of soldiers or colonists. 4 months, and going. Just for perspective. 😁
@@Zett76 People can always come up with custom challenges that are insane. RL1 No-Hit every boss in Elden Ring+DLC or something crazy like that. But I'm pretty sure Sekiro's Mortal Journey on No Charm+Bell is the hardest challenge ever made by devs. If you've never played Soulslike before, it's probably gonna take you more than 4 months. The base game on normal is considered one of the hardest games ever made, but that's a complete joke in comparison.
Dota 2 remains popular primarily because its player base largely consists of individuals aged 30 and older who have gradually learned and mastered the game over the years. New gamers often find it challenging to learn (requiring at least a year to understand and memorize the majority of the heroes, spells, and items). The just give up and go for something easier
Im 55. I've been gaming since Space Invaders came out (whoa). I took a break when we started having kids, mid-20s. Started again with the PS1 or 2 (can't recall, probably 2 for the DVD player) and because my kids were ready. Started seriously PC gaming around 2011. Here's what I can tell you from my perspective, I no longer need to grind to accomplish anything (hello original Castle of Illusion on Genesis with no saves), accomplishments now boil down to having a good time even if it means shamelessly playing on easy (which I typically do only when I've got to the point of just wanting the game to end.....I have a hard time not finishing games). Elden does make this strategy a challenge though (currently Lv 154) ;-)
Sekiro was my first fromsoftware game, loved every moment of it. I can still remember the first time I fought Gyobu Oniwa and how deeply the hooks of this game sunk into me. We need another.
@@matthewmcclary7855 take the time to learn their move sets, once you’ve “downloaded” the way every enemy fights the game is cake walk. Hard to learn easy to master. Sekiro gave me a great foundation for the other Fromsoft games
@@matthewmcclary7855 That much time? It's a 30-hour experience, bro. Especially if you skip optional bosses. Not that I would recommend that, getting every prayer bead and memory is the way to make things easier on yourself. At least reunite with Kuro in Ashina Castle before you judge the game, the boss you fight there is the one who teaches you how to play properly. An awesome fight. Let it take a year, that's about 30 minutes a week. No excuses. Just. Do. It.
Woop, shoutout to the best streamer Barbarousking (creator of GPW 1-3). Just a few corrections.. The clips you showed were from GPW1, where GPW2 is the hardest (at least imo). Also GPW 1 were mostly vanilla mechanics while 2 and 3 feature heavy ASM. GPW stands for Grand Poo Bear, which is also an amazing content creator. Just wanted to correct any small inconsistencies. But, really awesome seeing you mention more niche areas. Smwcentral is a literal goldmine for smw hacks, and feature such a awesome community. It deserves a whole lot more recognition (it's quite popular on A/SGDQ tho) @gameranx

Fairly confident they wont see this. More confident if they did... they wouldn't correct anything. They aren't incredibly interested in accuracy for the listicle. Much more so for the before you buys.
I’ve played through Sekiro probably 20 times now. It was My favorite game released during the ps4 era, even over red dead 2. It’s my greatest achievement in gaming as of late. The hardest game I decided to truly master and get good at. I’m not really into dark souls or souls like, but put a fantastical samurai backdrop to all that and I’m in. The samurai dueling and parrying feels so rewarding once it really clicks, which can take hours. Idk when I’ll get into a tough game like that again. Took a lot of my time and I get obsessed when I start getting good. My usual schtick is 3rd person shooters, open world and linear. I find the most relaxing games to be GTA with cheats going and the auto save turned off or replaying a 3rd person story driven shooter on an easier difficulty. That’s how I usually play. I like a challenge, but I also like to be a badass and have the world be a sandbox for that.
Also, ino the common consensus is that Sekiro is hard af but to me, it’s not all that. Once you learn: a) what debuffs each enemy is resistant too / b) the rhythm of the ensuing battle, its pretty much just execution at that point (mind you, I played with the demon ball off and on during my one and only playthrough). I heard a great assessment from another YT short depicting ER gameplay where the streamer suggested that there are certain bosses that give different players trouble. I think this ideal sufficiently applies to Sekiro as well. I remember fucking up Genichiro in 2-3 tries (demon ball off) with the mikiri and lighting strike counter thinking, “that’s all my mans’ had?”. But I began questioning my own skill level when I faced the monk in both fighting locations (Demon Bell off and on. Even Owl gave me less trouble! However, both times Demon Bell was off). I will close with this: I think it can be mutually agreed upon that Sword Saint Isshin and Demon of Hatred can each go to Hell (I threw away the Demon Bell at that point)
makes all the other FromSoft games look childish. Just replayed Bloodborne after being done with Sekiro, finished it in a week and a half. Sekrio is Michael J. FUCKED up
@@rikjamesguitare Yeah, you can basically overlevel everything in Bloodborne, except Loran Darkbeast and Defiled Watchdog. Dark Souls was even more of a joke, the only decent fight was O&S. Everything else either glitched out or fell over. Elden Ring can be the easiest of them all, it all depends on your build and choices. But your options are almost limitless. I would consider Lies of P and Sekiro in a league of their own, in terms of difficulty. And awesomeness.
I beat this gamer 2 moths ago,I passed down at least 200 times in the damn train section, It was a big deal for me ,after finished the main content I see myself taking a deeply breathing and finally got ride of this gamer in my console and the library from my PSN,therefore it a good gamer despite( I'm usually sucked in this kind of gamer.)
It was that climbing section, with all the lasers and traps…I was about to rip my hair out, but after like 45-100 tries later, finally did it. And then never wanted to play any bit of that game ever again
Ghost runner is perfection from its soundtrack to its smooth controls. I love both 1 & 2. It’s very addictive. Instant respawn with no load times is what makes this possible. It’s got that same addictive vibe as a tough mobile game without ads. You also feel like a total dog when you pull of a challenging level, giving it also a souls-like/ninja gaiden/devil may cry energy. Flawless games 10/10
I thought Thymesia would have made your list. That looks fun but it's tag's is difficult and even basic enemies wipe the floor with you. I stopped playing it after i couldn't get past the ringmaster of the circus.
I stopped there too. It's an unforgiving fight anyway, but after I realised the same attack from the Boss was doing different amounts of damage when it hit for no apparent reason, I went back to Steelrising.
@MTGNissaRevane9 Steelrising isn't as rough as Thymesia. I think the bosses are easier than most other Souls-like games so you aren't stuck on one bit for so long and you level up at a good pace. Grinding to level up in Thymesia felt quite slow.
Platinum is just the start though. Mortal Journey is the true test. Mortal Journey with no charm+bell is arguably the hardest thing in all of gaming. Unless you count custom-made challenges that gamers themselves invent. I mean you can even play Mortal Journey with base health and no tools. Or play blindfolded, for that matter.
A bonus one for is, Hollow Knight any radiance boss fight it's a mode with the moder literally create it to be impossible to beet but a few people still beat it so the moder creted V2 it was though to be actually impossible but 10 players still beat it and now there's V3 players are still trying to beat it but no luck yet.
DoDonPachi is such a great series. They're all definitely hard, but if you've got a base knowledge of shmups, they've got easier difficulties you can tackle before trying the insane ones.
Siege being here is interesting, as a person that played the game since Year 2 S3/S4 until Year 7 S3/S4. The factors that he mentioned are true but considering how the game devolved in most matches being namely gunfights leaning and less tactical vs how it was in earlier years being the inverse. It was a good, more tactically leaning game but it became a very strange amalgamation of things (nonsensical "tactics"/gunfights vs people that knew they had ping advantage/cheaters being increasingly common/people trolling in worst possible ways/small percentage of matches being actually normal games)
Shout out to Sekiro! As someone who has been a Souls Fan since the beginning. Sekiro was the community exposer. So many people who “spam talked” about Souls, how good they are at them, and/or many other things like talking about difficulty options, mechanics, etc got ABSOLUTELY EXPOSED by Sekiro. So many people were ranking it low because they couldn’t create a Tank build that kills enemies in less than 10 hits while chugging Estus. Or these people straight up admitted they didn’t beat it. Some of the creators that come to mind are… Jim Starling, biggest loser calling the game bad and insulting the “Git Gud” crowd because he couldn’t farm an OP build. The GIGAchad Ymfah rushing a “level 1 guide”, in which he said “can’t parry all his attacks with such low posture” leading to constant discussion about casuals being confused with the game when any good player learned quickly that posture and it breaking only happens when you block instead of Parry. And finally I remember the Souls Boss ranking guy giving the worse commentary about Sekiro.
Agreed. Generally in video games, you have A) the player improves or B) the character improves. Sekiro can be very divisive because it's mostly column A as opposed to the other souls which is a hybrid of A and B. However, mastering that game is very satisfying and beating Issin was one of my favorite video game achievements.
Oh. And another quick shoutout. Challenging games that demand Rhythm. Unlike most games were people are just stubborn. There is a biological reason here. Some people are just unable to follow the beat. Thankfully some of us were blessed and have Synesthesia. As in can follow the beat and relate it with our hands. So attacking, doing combos and then dodging can be done while not losing the beat.
@jt11425 especially column A for Sekiro. You can bs your way through to a certain point, then the game FORCES you to either git gud and learn to play the game, or...don't. I think it took my like a week before it finally clicked and I was able to continue on.
@@josetomascamposrobledano4618 That's hand-eye-coordination you're referring to. That is not what Synesthesia is at all. It's a mixing of senses, akin to hallucination.
I used to have a chance at some of these, but as i get older and my reflexes slow down, these just remind me how aging takes its toll in small bites. I'd love to play Eldin Ring, but with no easy mode, there's no point
You'll be able to beat Elden Ring if you're crafty enough. It really only requires a lot of skill if you play it with an intentionally difficult build, or try to rush each boss without exploring for better gear.
magic/dex build, farm runes, get over-leveled, and destroy everything. Also follow the first 4 episodes of Fightin'Cowboys 100% walkthrough. There's no spoilers in it, he just takes you around to get great starter gear, a bunch of charges for your flasks and other useful things. If you were ever a good gamer in your life, you can 100% do Elden Ring. My personal favorite is the smashy-boy build. Nothing like crushing stuff under a huge hunk of metal :)
thats why i sometimes use Trainers not only for some money but for resources and god mode or Infinity ammo, we don't have the same time anymore to gather everything on foot lol, PC rules hehe
I would say Trackmania would also fit for this list. This game is basically a time attack racing game, it requires some understanding towards the car mechanics and maps if you want to get a medal and online records. I can grind for like 2 or 3 hours in only 1 map just to get top 50 in Asia region.
I love souls games but Sekiro definitely is very hard and I did not enjoy the perfect block/parry style of combat. I tried to like it but the game just didn't click with me like the other souls games did
Third-ed! I beat that game just so I could tell the "it gets better" people to shut up :) If you don't dig parrying, this game doesn't just get better. Love Fromsoft, but I wasn't super into the level/enemy design in this one either
Did you beat Geni on the roof? If you didn't, then it doesn't really count. He is the one who teaches you how to play. That's where the combat clicks for people.
Not only is Seige technical, its player base has also reached a level that they treat it like COD and rush in with insane snap shots cause they know all the maps and angles. It’s crazy watching those who have played that game for forever

@@DarthSoto78 Easiest? I bet there are people out there who think the hardest one for you was "easiest" for them. These games are easy based on play-style. If this person feels good about beating Elden Ring, they should. Quit bringing down other people's accomplishments by saying what they went through was the easiest. You schmuck
Not really. Elden Ring unlike Sekiro is a game you can play even if you suck hard. The game provides tools for that such as summons especially mimic, some op ashes/magic and usually you can cheese things as well.
Funny things is, out of all Souls borne game, the only one I can progress in and complete the game is Sekiro. I couldn't even take down first boss in all Dark souls and Elden ring.
I'm of the unpopular belief that Sekiro is the easiest Soulsborne game. You get two lives and IMO Ichimonji is the best most broken attack in the series. nuff said.
On the upside, if Sekiro is your first game, you will definitely be ready for anything other games throw at you. That said, you are probably gonna need a couple of hundred hours before you can beat the game without dying. There are also 4 difficulties, when people say it's one of the hardest games out there, they are talking about the easiest difficulty. For people who are confused, the 4 difficulties would be normal, bell, no charm and no charm+bell. The Gauntlets are ofc way harder than the base game, beating them on the hardest difficulty (no charm+bell) is something I haven't even done myself yet.
Hot damn, nothing, absolutely nothing beats that first play through of sekiro or even bloodborne, Dark souls 3, etc 🥹. It's so full of amazement, discovery, and challenges. Don't get me wrong, repeat play throughs are awesome but that first run is always the sweetest
I feel like I'm really casual. I play games to have fun, so if a game is too hard I feel no shame in knocking it down to "easy." But yeah, if I genuinely enjoy a game, I'll happily play it on nightmare/survival just for fun, and I'm a platinum seeker in most games I do play.
@@jessemiller3108 If you're the kind of person who enjoys being challenged. Life is difficult enough, I don't need my entertainment to challenge me. Also, and there are plenty of people like me that won't admit it because society looks down on it, but I'm never entertaining by challenge. Every defeat simply reminds me of how pathetic I am. When you've spent a hundred hours on something and don't improve at all, it just reinforces that belief. Indeed, the more time I spent on practicing something, the worse I seem to get at it. Every misstep, every defeat, every disappointment and frustration drives home to my subconscious that I'm worthless and my performance degrades that much further in response.
@@rustybrooks8916 I agree with you that society looks down on it. And, if that’s not your cup of tea, I get it. Just simply stating that challenging video games can be an unwind for some people. Sometimes I can unwind with an easy game, but sometimes if a game is challenging and I can overcome it, that can also make me unwind in a different way. We all have our different ways for certain things
I love that you put in Rocket League. The skill ceiling in that game is absolutely insane. Us older gamers have zero chance competing at higher levels. And btw, people get pissed of at you when you are losing even if you are the better player. It's always "bad team mates", never your own fault XD
I knew there was a reason I don't play multiplayer games! Seiously though, while it may me a little late to ask the quesion and many people see it, this video really hit home with a question I've been thinking about for some months now. How do you feel about game developers publishing difficult or brutally difficult games with no settings to adjust that difficulty. I bring this up because there is a game that I really, really want to spend my money on and play for it stunning world and exploration and while it didn't make this list, it's known for being very difficult. Everything I read says plan on dying, a lot. I don't consider myself a causual gamer, I'm 64 and play hundreds of hours, but I play for enjoyment and I don't enjoy dying every 5 minutes. For the last 900 hours I've been playing Conan Exiles single player and I graetly appreciate how you can tweak the difficulty through the server settings. Some I've made more difficult and some less. I acknowledge that game developers can and should be able to do as they please and I'm sure hardcore players ejnoy the bragging rights but I'd still love to see more accesssiblity to great games through difficulty settings that some great games don't have. Particularly games that can be played single player. If anyone has any thoughts I'd love to read them.
At least finish Sekiro first. Totally worth it. All the better if you suck, that will make the sense of accomplishment even greater by the end. The point is to push through, no matter what.

One two THREE. OOOOOOOOOOONE TwoThree. OOOOOOOOOOONE TwoThree. haha

I'm 51 years old and I've been playing video games basically all my life. and I thought I was pretty good at most of games, but...... I started playing Rocket League with my son about 3 years ago, who was 10 years old back then. It was a way to spend some time with my son and have fun, that sort of thing. I used to only play turn based RPGs and cozy games like animal crossing. Then I played bloodborne and rage quit it. Kept going back, making it a bit farther, then getting too scared or too frustrated and walking away. I got a new gaming laptop and really wanted to test the graphics.
My Dad turns 60 tomorrow and still plays video games. Although he's toned it down to only playing war games like cod and he loves all of the sniper games
Cool dad. My dad also likes violent games but has never put his hands on video game console or pc
I actually if you play the new one, the screen makes it where you can’t see what coming up and that’s why it’s hard. Not because it’s good game design
You know, this video reflects exactly why I don’t play online much anymore. Gamers are jerks to the people who don’t have the same skill as them. I honestly can’t put in the time to become as skilled as those who do nothing else.

Stealth games with their more cerebral, slow, play.
Yup as a kid I loved hard games now as an adult I can’t do it. The hardest game I’ve played was god of war ragnorock fighting those special bosses to get armor. That was challenging so all that other stuff naw I’m good.

It also depends on how good the game is. FromSoft are known for making hard but fair games, for example. As soon as you die, you know why almost immediately and can begin course correcting.
I'm here for the story not the process of "gitting gud."

WTF indeed.
Reminds me of something from boot camp. Anytime the drill instructor said "pain" the recruits had to respond with "is in our future."
For Ghostrunners vs. Hotline Miami, i would agree with most but its also keeping in mind that Hotline Miami ideally is designed so that even if you die, the restart is just as quick and hoping back into the chaos in these half a second bursts feels natural.
Ghostrunner is the same, you die and are instantly put back at the start of the room to try something else.
Huge respect for the skill of gamers who engage in these games. I play to relax, and love single player action RPGs. I play on easy or story mode most of the time. Harder to master than chess? ;)

Sweet, I rocked Ghost Runner (save for that damn train section) so I am at least an adequate human being haha.

Ghost runner is perfection from its soundtrack to its smooth controls. I love both 1 & 2. It’s very addictive. Instant respawn with no load times is what makes this possible. It’s got that same addictive vibe as a tough mobile game without ads.
@@Ezmeranth definitely thymesia is brutal. I liked the game but not the difficulty so gave up. I have Steel rising on my list but haven't played it
@MTGNissaRevane9 Steelrising isn't as rough as Thymesia. I think the bosses are easier than most other Souls-like games so you aren't stuck on one bit for so long and you level up at a good pace. Grinding to level up in Thymesia felt quite slow.
@@Ezmeranth oh I remember trying to level up in thymesia, it was painful. That throwing of the feather to distract enemies wasn't helpful either.

Some of the creators that come to mind are…
Jim Starling, biggest loser calling the game bad and insulting the “Git Gud” crowd because he couldn’t farm an OP build.
