There was the Snoop Dogg Spyro Drone ad campaign for Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Although cool to see on social media, the TV commercials that concluded the campaign was very ineffective compared to the Crash N.Sane Trilogy ad campaign, both done by Sony to exclusively promote the Playstation versions. The Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions got generic gameplay ads.
They did bring it back for Legion, as the previous commenter who has obviously never been to London said. The world is so oppressive that it borders on edgelordy. Just too bad it was a middling, predictable game compared to 1 or 2, with a terrible "procgen characters with permadeath" gimmick to ensure you can't form attachments to the characters, ultimately doing a lot to ruin a narrative that really didn't need the help being mid.

What you have to remember is that back in the day, around the time of the PS3 launching, that kind of timeframe, the entire gaming industry was a lawless place, with no rules at all. I know this because I worked in it. I was the PR guy in a large ad agency that did both the PR and the advertising for one of the major gaming companies. I'm not going to say which one, or in what country but the crazy times were real. Back when expense accounts were a thing and the entire office stopped at 3pm every single day for a beer or a glass of wine. And i can tell you flat out that none of these mental advertising strategies had anything to do with the game they were promoting, they were all based around winning advertising awards at Cannes for the campaign. And to do that, you had to "disrupt the industry" or some other BS that makes advertising guys all weak at the knees. Nothing was off the table, every idea was put to the client and we were all more than a bit surprised when they agreed to some of them. It was a different time, a crazy time and I'm glad I'm out of it. You should have seen some of the ideas they DIDN'T pick!
I remember my pops getting my cousin and I each a Sega Saturn and a PS1. I actually liked the Sega Saturn a lot more with Virtual Cop, Clockwork Knights, and Gex being my favorites. Then those Sony games started rolling in though and the Saturn quickly became a paperweight

The opposite of the PS3/ PS5 Pro, with the PS5 pro being $699 (equivalent to £532), but Sony saying £699 (equivalent to $917) and them being, oh people will want to do overtime/work harder to afford a PS3 because of how good it is, then being surprised that the Xbox 360 outsold it almost two to one in the UK. I could get an Xbox Series X AND a Nintendo Switch Lite for less than a PS5 Pro, and they both have physical media.

The best thing that came from Daikatana was that someone made a "song" that use the characters audio from the game to make it sound like they were f***ing (I had a magazine that had "demo" CD's with it that had it on the disk) that was the best thing that came from that game.
It would be great to see the opposite side of this, unique promotions that worked (other than trailers, of course). The SWTOR Flash mob in Times Square comes to mind.

I've been a fan of the channel for a very, very long time. And when you do what you do constantly, there are going to be some fantastic content, and some not-so-great content from time to time. (I say this with great respect and not a degradation by any means) But every once in a while, you're going to bring down fire from the heavens to the masses for making and slamming that home run content. And this is that fire! You really did your homework on this and it shows. I loved finding out and learning about some of these events that slipped my attention back then. Your doctrine was sound and it made me want to stay through the whole video because I wanted to hear what the next one in line was going to be. Great job!

Fun fact, the Sega Saturn was unable to render transparencies, or light efftects (unlike the psx), resorting to tricks such as simulating transparencies using pixels, and more pixels to simulate light effects. I was one of many Creative Directors for the giant ad agency tasked with launching X-Box 360 and i could write a book on just how wrong the entire promotional realm in the gaming realm is for EVERYTHING. I've worked inside Ubisoft and Nintendo and done indie work as a creative on one-off small timey gamer startups and the entire idea of marketing in the gaming world is purely a masturbatory sh*tshow that exists because businesses have marketing departments and that's what they do, right? (shrugs)
I swear I've seen this exact list countless times before. I bet The Saturn launch, advertising on gravestones, giving away free petrol/gas, giant mutant crabs, Kinect fail and Daikatana are all there.
Watchdogs bomb threat was funny to me, I worked in a nearby building and we would always get couriers doing drop and runs without notice. Call up their offices tell them not too... "We are a secure building, if we don't know what it is, the bomb squad will blow it up?" After that day, no more issues.
If they remaster them, I wouldn't mind them adding more to at least Fable 1, so it's not all linear pathways....I never played the follow up games, but I suspect they also had basically just one path for most of it. If they modernized it, make it not quite open world but not too boxed in, and add content, tiny villages, or merchants, along those routes. I just remember getting to that really dense looking forest towards the endgame, where the large stone judges you fit for the hero challenge, I think it was, and thought...I really wish I could just walk all around this forest, but there are invisible walls
Funny enough , we were at e3 that year that Dantes inferno was "Pro-test"! It's was so wild , and basically weird as it seemed we also had asked eachother if it were real. And we even tried to start a dialog , telling them t.hat by protesting a game they were inadvertently giving it a larger platfom. I.e. by talking about the game normally it wouldn't have all the hype built around it. But by protesting it , then, good or bad, it's getting news , it's different, people asking "why are they protesting a video game?" And basically our argument was instead of being negative about one game and protesting, instead promote a game you actually like and therefore not giving more airwaves to the game you are protesting! Needless to say none of them had much of depth to their retort seeing as we totally guessed it right in the first place and was a totally faked hoax!

Heck when I was in college during a video project, the school required use to inform the police, when we were filming with fake guns, in the school, in the film room, with posters notifying students what was going on, just in case some didn't see the sign and called the police.

There seems to be exactly one existing photo of it, and there is indeed a dead goat. Along with a man in a toga and a woman in a red bikini thing, both of whom have no enthusiasm and look like they want to be anywhere else. Which, they are standing next to a dead animal, so I would hope that'd be the reaction.

I've been a fan of the channel for a very, very long time. And when you do what you do constantly, there are going to be some fantastic content, and some not-so-great content from time to time. (I say this with great respect and not a degradation by any means) But every once in a while, you're going to bring down fire from the heavens to the masses for making and slamming that home run content. And this is that fire! You really did your homework on this and it shows. I loved finding out and learning about some of these events that slipped my attention back then. Your doctrine was sound and it made me want to stay through the whole video because I wanted to hear what the next one in line was going to be. Great job!

@@Manan_K not really, concord is a well done game, finished and good graphics (gameplay maybe not that good, or game modes), but has failed due to saturation of the market of this kind of games and not being free to play.
Redfall as an actually failure, a game half-done, with infinity of bugs, etc.

Fun fact, the Sega Saturn was unable to render transparencies, or light efftects (unlike the psx), resorting to tricks such as simulating transparencies using pixels, and more pixels to simulate light effects. One of the many reasons it failed.

I had a sega saturn. Every game that came out for it was incredible. All 5 of them. But for real, it was cool because it was capable of running games thaf were otherwise only out in arcades. Legit. All 5 of them.

I was one of many Creative Directors for the giant ad agency tasked with launching X-Box 360 and i could write a book on just how wrong the entire promotional realm in the gaming realm is for EVERYTHING. I've worked inside Ubisoft and Nintendo and done indie work as a creative on one-off small timey gamer startups and the entire idea of marketing in the gaming world is purely a masturbatory sh*tshow that exists because businesses have marketing departments and that's what they do, right? (shrugs)
I swear I've seen this exact list countless times before. I bet The Saturn launch, advertising on gravestones, giving away free petrol/gas, giant mutant crabs, Kinect fail and Daikatana are all there.

A remaster of the Fable games would be great... as long as that liar is not involved.
If they remaster them, I wouldn't mind them adding more to at least Fable 1, so it's not all linear pathways....I never played the follow up games, but I suspect they also had basically just one path for most of it. If they modernized it, make it not quite open world but not too boxed in, and add content, tiny villages, or merchants, along those routes.
I just remember getting to that really dense looking forest towards the endgame, where the large stone judges you fit for the hero challenge, I think it was, and thought...I really wish I could just walk all around this forest, but there are invisible walls

BF2042 to this day my logictec mouse still doesn't work after the beta(where it worked fine then!).
Funny enough , we were at e3 that year that Dantes inferno was "Pro-test"! It's was so wild , and basically weird as it seemed we also had asked eachother if it were real. And we even tried to start a dialog , telling them t.hat by protesting a game they were inadvertently giving it a larger platfom.
I.e. by talking about the game normally it wouldn't have all the hype built around it. But by protesting it , then, good or bad, it's getting news , it's different, people asking "why are they protesting a video game?" And basically our argument was instead of being negative about one game and protesting, instead promote a game you actually like and therefore not giving more airwaves to the game you are protesting!
Needless to say none of them had much of depth to their retort seeing as we totally guessed it right in the first place and was a totally faked hoax!

Event 8: Everyone knows if you are filming or doing anything in public with fake guns, you have to get clearance and licenses from the city and police. Heck when I was in college during a video project, the school required use to inform the police, when we were filming with fake guns, in the school, in the film room, with posters notifying students what was going on, just in case some didn't see the sign and called the police.

I'm betting they have a sound engineer trying to dial in the microphone again he uses, or maybe it broke, so they need to calibrate all settings, which is a lot, in order for it to sound the same.
His voiceover work sounds so much better when there's a little more boom behind the delivery of the words, and the last few videos I could tell was either the worst AI voiceover, or that the mic was dying, damaged cable, or just messed up mic settings. So I suppose Jake is filling in for now maybe, idk
