The heated steering automatically turns on when the temperature of the steering wheel is low enough. Im not exactly sure what temperature that is but its not consistent since outside temperature can be cold but sun shinning on your wheel can increase its surface temperature so it stays off or sometimes not increase it enough so it will still activate.

Thanks man. Deff some quarks, but so far MANY less complaints from my wife using this thing. CarPlay mostly comes up on its own and that is a win on its own.

The defroster quirk is actually standard. That happens because if the defroster is on you’re only controlling the temperature at the windshield there is no air coming out of front vents. Happens with original controls too.

@@PMPerformance well more specificly you in defrost only one temp matters and that's the driver side theirfore passenger side must be synced. However the Tesla screen misinterprets this and leaves the passenger side to whatever it was and let's you twiddle around with it as it doesn't matter at all
Hit the music note in the bottom right hand corner and it takes you directly to the radio
Hello, I wanted to thank you for the videos about the mark6 that have helped me a lot. I have a problem and wanted to ask you about the button on the steering wheel to talk to the unit. When I pressed it, the assistant appears on the mark6 screen saying hello, but it does not hear my voice, however through car play or intouch directly by pressing on the screen it does hear me. Maybe I have to connect the microphone that comes in the package? Thank you again.
If your car already had hands free, it should not need an extra mic. Hence why touching on the screen works.
This is a limitation of the unit and the stock assistant functionality.
I have a 2014 Q50. Watching this video and other reviews about this unit. Cool looking concept but just seems like an expensive gamble just to make your Q dash look cooler, but 50/50 functionality. Bottom-line IMO, THIS IS what Infiniti needs to build OEM on the new Q50 gen refresh. If they ever decide to finally refresh the gen.
Real talk, it’s not bad and adds functionality. It’s not for looks. Atleast not for me.
Agreed Infiniti needs to take this step and do something like this and polish it into an oem unit without bs android overlay and make it %100
On the q50 2014 the reverse camera does not automatically turn on when you go into reverse you manually have to press the camera
You might need to look into the vehicle settings on the main settings page

Increase due to the DSP. That would be the only reason
I really enjoy your videos and find them very helpful. I have the same equipment on my car as yours. Yes, my husband had to go back and add the cables for the USB ports so that we could talk to the unit. I found that I could not use CarPlay wired even after adding the cables. It does recognize and will read a USB drive, but does not use it as a wired CarPlay. Also, the navigation screen does not allow customization of anything other than Google Maps. (The "user guide"), says it can be done, but I have not found that to be the case. I was wondering if you had run into either of these issues. Again (from the #complaining wife), Thank you for sharing!! 😄
Thank you for watching. Once I get the usb installed, I will test the wired CarPlay. I think you need to change a setting with how the phone syncs to CarPlay when you change the connection type.
I have not figured out how to change the Home Screen a lot.
If you change the soft buttons up top, it does change the widgets at the bottom.
So on this video, at the end I changed the intouch to be a shortcut up top. This then correlates to that widget at the bottom changing for music. The widget is useless though.
Squarewheels has a video for changing the appearance of those widgets or split screen on IG a couple weeks ago. He might have posted on RUclips as well

@@calandrajones strange they told you that. It appears on the CarPlay screen that it would do wired tethering as well. Would be silly to do wireless, but not wired
Great video, thank you! I’ve had the MK6 since their BF sale. Main reason why I haven’t is due to lack of wired CarPlay/music. You mentioned installing a harness to allow that, was that specific harness included?
So actually funny you say that. I was under full impression that that wired usb harness allowed for wired CarPlay. I have never seen a unit have wireless CarPlay, but not wired.
But main reason why this is so funny, is because I am walking out the door right now to hook up that harness hoping this would give me this functionality.

@@wolfpack9695 failure. So it turns out supposedly according to AUCar, this Qualcomm chip is not compatible with wired CarPlay. Basically, if you have an iPhone, it is completely useless wired other than charging as a whole.
But….. if you sync via Bluetooth first and then build the trust over wireless with CarPlay, you can disconnect the Bluetooth and it will stay working via the wireless connector somehow.
Not sure what that function does for me but that is what I found working with them atleast.

Hello, i have a question about the mark 6 screen, is it working without problems on a infiniti Q50 S (2) 3.5 V6 306 Ch HYBRID SPORT TECH RWD 7AT from 2013 because on the website it is saying « 2014-2019 »? And is it working on a qx70s or qx50s from 2013-2014 and after? Thank you very much :)
Q50’s came out in 14, which is why that is the year listed.
I cannot say for certain if this works on the hybrids though. I would think it would, but the hybrids were a little odd when when they first came out. I “think” it’s good, but I can’t make the recommendation for you to spend $1k on it.
If the dash is the same in the qx models, I believe it should. If not, you would need to see if they make a replacement dash unit for those
Does the remote start still work from the infiniti app on your phone since there is no more bottom intouch screen or is that controlled through the top screen like you mentioned?
I have never used the Infiniti app on either of my Q50’s so no clue.
I touch is still very much present though
You can use the wireless carplay on either phone just sync them both up. I bounce between my daughters car and it doesn't cause any issue with her car after I connect.
It causes an issue with mine at points. I just have to disconnect mine when my wife gets in for a more seamless switch.
Adding sim is by far the best way to experience this unit. My carrier actually added my extra line for free...I even was able to get a free s21 ultra phone...
I wouldn’t call it the best experience by far. But it is convenient.
I find it hard to believe your carrier just handed you free service and a new phone. I’d love for that to happen to me, but not realistic
@PMPerformance well, they sure did. BTW, I've been with my carrier for over 30 years. I'm grandfathered on a lot of things with them. But to silence your reality of my experience, let me enlighten you. It was a promotion to add a new line. That new line was good for a phone( just happened to be that phone as well as an iPhone to choose from). To keep my same number and leave the new line number with the AU (in case you are unaware), you can switch numbers to whichever phone line you have), for whatever line you want.

@randeharris2760 I am not sure how they benefit from giving you a free phone and a free line? Or do you mean free activation and a free phone for activating a new line? If so, they obviously make it back in monthly subscription fees (which does not equate to free)
Typically even the phones are not free unless you are on a signed contract as well which I was not sure carriers even did anymore.
What carrier are you on?

i got this but it’s not compatible for the 2023 Q50 😩 are they ganna make one for the 2023 ? the wiring is different. only one plug to the top OEM screen
Why would you even want this if you have a 23? You have CarPlay already
You should ask the manufacturer this.
Few questions. Is the bluetooth still delayed like it was oem, like when watching youtube on the oem it was a sec or two delayed sound to video, Im assuming that probably stays. Also the apple car play apple maps works fine? Should just work along with your phone right?
Also have you noticed any difference in sound quality with the speakers? I have the bose performance package in my redsport and i just wanna make sure its not going to make it sound worse than before.
It won’t. I have the Bose as well. With the EQ tweaks you can get a much better sound out of it
CarPlay works pretty good. I don’t wTch RUclips in my car because I am focused on driving, so I can’t answer that question.
It might over Bluetooth, but can’t imagine it will if using a hotspot
@@PMPerformance cool deal may be my next purchase. So if i wanted to run any of the apps off the tablet itself for example the google maps on it i would have to use a hotspot or buy a cellular plan for it?

Nice video !!, I like to ask if all second screen menu, like consumption , drive modes , etc is available in this screen ?
Everything that OEM had is still avail as far as I have found. I have not seen anything missing really other than the animations when changing the drive modes.
Now I will say if you want the OEM style views, you would have to launch intouch to get to them and see them.

None of that is controlled through your bottom screen, so no, you shouldn’t.

I own q60 european version and when I installed MK6 airbag light won't come off.
You may need to change the version of the car under settings. Like where is shows rhd or lhd
Hey bro my anti theft system has engaged, will replacing with the Aucar change my issu or remain the same.
An android tablet in your dash will not fix electrical/module problems.
All this thing is, is a tablet with a cute overlay and some oem plugs to bypass your bottom screen.
My “DCU” actually has an issue and putting the mark 6 over it and it’s working fine. The top screen touch screen feature wasn’t working.
The touchscreen itself is not an issue. It’s if the DCU itself isn’t functional that it would be an issue
Do you use a hotspot for data? LTE? How does the display get internet data?
I believe I discussed this in detail on this video or the other one.
I primarily use this via CarPlay because it’s cleaner and easier.
I have connected via my hotspot already and works fine, just not as pretty and refined as CarPlay.
LTE would work the same way if you have the dongle installed
Quirky? Yes, but still a good device.

I am not sure what you mean exactly?
You want to forget your OEM Bluetooth connection though and connect directly to the new unit. You will likely have issues if you are still trying to use onboard bluetooth
@@PMPerformance The problem is that if I am listening to the radio, and I receive a call, many times I pick up the phone, and the radio continues to be heard instead of the call. Other times, when the radio stops and the call is heard, when it ends, the radio is not heard again.
@Lockley2010 I would say this is due to utilizing both units.
I don’t listen to the radio, so I cannot be of any help here. But utilizing just the android unit will alleviate your issues I am sure. Switching back and forth will be probpematic

It plays great wirelessly, I just don’t always want to be wireless.

Did you watch the whole video? I specifically mention (as per the instructions) which connector to check. If not connected, you will get no audio

Hi question I just instilled my mk6 and I have no sound
Lilely causes are missing the connector at the usb area in the center console and a plug that runs down behind the unit to the main harness. I think I touched on this kid video
At 6:33 where does the supplied usb harness plug into as the q50 stock usb port on my car is useless now?
So it’s not useless, it does charge. That is all though.
Same for the external usb harness, if you have an iPhone, all you can do it charge now

Yes you can plug a jump drive into it. That was my plan since the iPhone won’t work as a usb device with this
I have an issue where when i tap on a specific icon, either nothing happens or something else opens up instead. I am not sure if the screen is out of syn or not?
I did not see a touch point sync option, so it may just be that the screen is unresponsive or the button not mapped or to the correct application if my guess.
So what would be my next move? I have restarted and factory data reset the unit, but to no luck. I did notice that during the factory data reset process, it showed the word resetting, but instead of being below the reloading animation, it was above it and upside down.
It was working fine at first, but after factory data reset, its off. And the screen seemed to start at landscape mode bfore correcting itself to portrait mode

Bought it from some guy on offerup, first install was good, and everything worked at first. It wasnt until after I factory data reset the device, that is when the issues popped up
Hello, I recently installed a AuCar Mark 6 in my 2018 Infiniti Q50. I did not install the SIM card and use my iPhone 14 to link to the unit at startup. I am confused on the whole bluetooth, hotspot, wi-fi setup I need to use in order to use the applications I downloaded onto the Mark6. I keep trying to open an app and it is saying there in no network connection yet I have the hotspot connected and wi-if automatically turns off when Apple Car play starts. Can you help me understand all of this?
Bluetooth is like using your oem head unit. You can play music or CarPlay from you phone
Hotspotting or lte allows you to use the u it as your phone and run apple directly from it.
Remember, it’s just an android tablet. You either use the tablet as a tablet and give it its own signal, or you use another device for signal and just use this for the screen
I can connect the Wi-Fi to my phone’s hotspot and pair my phone via Bluetooth but then the Wi-Fi keeps turning off. I naught the unit from Rob at SquareWheels, but he cannot seem to diagnose the problem. Any idea’s. Also, even though I have the keep Wi-Fi on feature turned on. I have to turn Wi-Fi on when I power up the car. If the Bluetooth connection to my car is off, I do not run into these issues.

You EITHER use your phone as a hotspot, OR you use it via Bluetooth. You cannot connect via both.
@@PMPerformance I connect it via Wi-Fi to my phone’s hot-spot in order to gain access to the internet for cellular data transfer, but I cannot take called hands free unless I pair my phone to the MK6 via Bluetooth tooth. Is there another way to receive and respond to calls and text messages without pairing the phone via Bluetooth? An app I can download maybe?
@@billwhite7551 if you need the unit to work as an extension of your phone, you need to Bluetooth it.
If you want it to be it’s own complete separate entity, that is when you use wifi hotspot or a sim in the unit.
For what you are trying to do, Bluetooth with CarPlay or android auto is your answer.
I have since learned there are some decent limitations with this thing. Once you know the limitations, your expectations are lowered
So the wifi Hotspot would constantly disconnect any fix for that?

@@PMPerformance so if I have Bluetooth and the mobile Hotspot on and click wifi it would act like it's turning on wifi but then turn right off
@oxmis you cannot run multiple radios at once. So hotspot and Bluetooth at the same time is not supported (on your phone)

I done all of the research about it but still find myself watching all the videos that I can find about the MK6 before I purchased it, which I just purchased today. If you DL it, I hope it resolves your issues!

@@PMPerformance referring to the stuff that was going on in your HVAC section. You were speaking on the defrost stuff, as well as the heated seats. Maybe it was just a bug?

While this unit is not bad, it’s an 3rd party coded Android device from a sketchy Chinese company. These devices will never be perfect.
So did the positives outweigh the negatives for you?
Yea overall it works pretty well with minimal aggravation.
Brother, thanks for the video! I have 2 questions for you. 1st. How's the audio quality, clear as OEM? and 2nd. How's the quality of the call?
The reason I'm asking is because I installed the non tesla screen Chinese unit, and it's horrible. The audio signal gets transferred to the car by a physical AUX 3.5 JACK cable that you have to connect to the AUX input, and you get a lot of hiss and distortion . Calls are a nother nightmare too. You have to use the microphone that connects to the unit, and no one can hear nor understand you. Even if you upgrade the mike to a Sony microphone, It won't solve the issue.
It works as OEM. It still uses the oem mic, so no issues there.
Audio is as good as oem if not better for the fact that you have more control with the DSP.
Really no qualms there I can think of. While I have not had much phone calls in the car myself, I have talked to my wife when she is driving, and no issues to report on that front.
Everything works perfect on my system.
This was very helpful! I had most of the same quirks you mentioned as well, with one addition:
My Bluetooth for Intouch and the AuCar unit fight for connectivity with wireless audio. As a result, I lose sound for all CarPlay features too - including phone speaker. I currently forcing Intouch to take control of BT Audio for music and phone, but I’m not sure how to rectify this.
I forget if I went over this or not, but you would want to shut off Bluetooth on intouch.
u have any problems with power harness keeping on ur dlrs having that issue they sent me out another harness hopefully it fixes it
Not that I have noticed. So your drls stay on when your headlights are on now?
@@PMPerformance no just when I have the harness plugged in when I turn the delay and car off they won’t turn off at all they stay on for hours

I am currently using my hotspot for everything. I'm having an issue when people call it just shows a phone number not the name. Also how do I make phone calls from the interface?
You need to use CarPlay or android auto.
The hotspot is so you can use apps natively on the screen, but your phone is a phone. They do different things
@@PMPerformance unfortunately I've been having issues with AA. It's not connecting. Any suggestions? It was working yesterday.Will there be a reason though when someone does call me their phone number comes up on my screen but not the name.
@@BrettGoldstein83 are you using is Bluetooth? Wired? Or are you trying to hotspot your phone and trying to use AA?
@@PMPerformance I've tried wired and wireless. The hotspot is turned off when trying to connect to AA. The device is recognizing my phone because it shows it's connected with Bluetooth but AA just doesn't load
I cannot say for AA as I am an apple user, but sometimes CarPlay can get whacky too. I haven’t had issues in a few months though.
Pretty sure the hotspot needs to be off though. I would try to change the mode and change back to AA and see if it changes back

I can’t say I ever remember either of mine doing that prior. What is the temperature threshold on that setting?

I got this unit and my back camera image is flipped. So things on the left are on the right side. Did this happen with yours?
No. You used the stock camera? Or you used their camera?
@@PMPerformance I'm using the stock camera. I looks like I'm the only person with this problem.
@trsskater the reason I ask is because I know the aftermarket cameras there is a camera orientation setting.
So I would go under settings and see if there is something for the camera to adjust the orientation. If not, hit the camera button on the console if you have one and see if you can change in there.
If none of those work, I would go under the car settings and make sure the approximate setting for LHD for your car is set maybe?

Not that I have found. They led me to believe they occasionally do updates, but I wouldn’t hold my breathe over it

Yes, there is a sim car adapter. I think I pointed this out in my prior video before this one
Can you use in touch to remotely start your car with you phone?
I cannot answer that unfortunately as I remote start with a key fob.
I thought they killed off the intouch mobile app years ago?
I would assume the answer is yes though as Intouch is still very present as it is the main underlay.
Remember, this is only a fancy overlay/piggybacked screen. So all the oem functionality is still present
@@PMPerformance Hey thanks for the quick response, I have a 2018 and the old 3g technology doesn't allow any in touch services too work , wasn't sure with the 4g data plan this would resolve that issue but I would assume not,
@@stevejackus3190 this would not as this is a separate technology.
Since this is just a tablet on a breakout harness, it gives you access to get into the old UI via the tablet, but it will not add additional functionality that is not currently available.

I’ve had the mark 6 for over a month as well and honestly, i wish I would’ve done the CarPlay mod with the OEM setup. Like this unit is just incomplete. Filled with bugs, and non functioning features. For instance, Talking on the phone with CarPlay is horrible, I have to switch to the OE’s bluetooth so they can hear me clearly. You try to disconnect the CarPlay and it reconnects IMMEDIATELY. So I have to disable CarPlay, then the OE bluetooth won’t work. -__- .$1,000 USD for an incomplete unit.
I think our calling works fine. I have not heard complaints yet. The persistent CarPlay can be annoying though. Mine will do that until another phone is connected I think
Man, I just got done seeing the video and I’m very disappointed not in the video but in the head unit or tablet the tablet should be worth no more than $500 like you guys stated it’s from China so trying to rip people off for 1000 it’s crazy when it doesn’t work properly
This is one of those I can kind of justify the price. If it were just the tablet, I agree.
But the fact it’s ALL plug and play along with all the extra harnesses, camera, sim tray ect and the OEM look bezel, I can’t argue with the price.
My Alpine ILX for my Vette was like $900 without all that extra stuff. I was closer to $1k in for a “basic” double din. Not basic, but compared to this it is.
I have a q60 and dont see aettings for my hvac have tried the q50 aettings but Ac heated seats still not correct

Can’t swipe up for hvac? Or you are saying your seat coolers and heat are not working?
@PMPerformance I can only use seat heaters if I first turn Hvac on then when I press drivers heated seat the passenger seat heat is changed
I did a factory reset of MK6 Ac / Heat controls are not funtioning correctly
@@johnmayo4889 the first part I think is common as mine does that too. I think I have seen them change on I assign though too.

It’s not perfect, but likely a ton better than the older models.
Wireless CarPlay sometimes does not connect, but wireless CarPlay in general is problematic. Otherwise, it’s been pretty stress free to be honest
Can you control carplay with the center dial?
Negative. The center dial is solely for volume now.
@@PMPerformance oh wow I thought that at least carplay could be controlled by the dial. Kinda a deal breaker for me…
I never really used that dial, so I even had to go out and check.
Remember, this is really just a tablet with a fancy UI overlay. While all the functionality works otherwise, making a directional dial work externally to a tablet is difficult. There need to be software mapping in the code for it. It’s robust, but not that robust.
While it is limited In some ways, I would not let this solely be your deal breaker. The advantage of CarPlay as a whole out weighs the dial not being used for directional controls
@@PMPerformance so if you move the dial to the left or right, nothing happens? Also what about the steering wheel controls? If you press the speak button while CarPlay is open, does Siri wake up?
How is the connection with carplay? Is it reliable all the time or sometimes it disconnects?

@@julioperezm2182 the center dial does nothing but volume up and down.
The voice button does not wake up Siri, one via the Siri shortcut on the screen.
CarPlay is decently reliable. If you use the same phone all the time and don’t leave the car with the radio on with the phone out of the car, it’s dead nuts reliable. If you inject those other issues, it can be a little bit of a pain
Sooo my top screen doesn’t work just reboots couple of time and then dies, but when I reverse as soon as i start the car the cameras work fine till it blacks out again…. No hope for This screen working? I honestly just want music and carplay working couldn’t give two fucks about intouch and cameras
I forget the full functionality of the top screen, but I think as long as your bottom screen is fine, you are good to replace with this “Tesla “ style unit even though the top unit stays in place.

I never asked Aucar about it since everything worked out of the box
@PMPerformance In yourOne Month video U had to turn on Ac or heat to adjust seat heat, how did u fix that
@@johnmayo4889 there is no fix for that. Hvac needs to be on for the seat heaters to work.

Nah, probably just in a funky state. It happens sometimes and can be a pain to get working again.
Restarting the car and letting it resync usually fixes it.
Otherwise forgetting the Bluetooth neighborship and allowing to relearn does as well
I have wireless CarPlay in 2 cars right now, and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Wired is certainly more reliable, but I found out after the fact this thing won’t do wired CarPlay.
@PMPerformance I did a reboot on mine because it wouldn't load the carplay app anymore. Now it looks like factory reset, but the wired carplay works kinda
You do not have this model then, because wired CarPlay will not work.
Rebooting does not do a factory reset either
